Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 is an SNES sequel/updated re-release of Baseball Simulator 1.000 on the NES. Like in the original game, there are 18 different teams from three different leagues. The ultra league gives the teams different powers for a completely different experience. You can also customize your teams with the editor and also make an original league for the season game.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 1.11.6
  • Aims for fastest time
  • 2 players
  • Uses an in-game editor

Comments

I used an editor to give max stats to one batter and one pitcher. The only drawback to the editor is you can only select the ones digit, the thousandths digit in the batting average, and the hundredths digit in the earned run average. This was not the problem in the NES original, but was addressed in later sequels. The improvements to the editor include changing the color of the team's uniforms, editing the team name starting with the first letter, and earned run averages don't need to be distributed completely.
You can set the length of the game before you pick your teams. For the Ultra Power, you can set the power points to unlimited before the game starts.

Exhibition game

One inning game

Player 1 picks Boston and Player 2 picks the edited team. Player 1 is assigned to the team's manager while Player 2 controls the pitching and batting. We get to the bottom of the inning as quickly as possible for Player 2 to score a home run.

Other comments

There are so many methods of getting three out in a row including a triple play. This run could be improved by assigning only the important stats.

Samsara: Okay.

I have absolutely no clue about Baseball as a sport or this game. This encode might actually be desyncing and I wouldn't know. Link to video

[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

I'm guessing the object here is "shortest time to get the first home run in exhibition mode", which seems kinda lame. Unless it is a playaround, the goal should be winning the entire game in the fastest time or at least the most entertaining manner. Moreso pointless because the main batter is edited to possess godlike power and batting averages. More time was spent editing those stats than playing the game and I would assume RNG manipulation could have achieved that homer in a more timely manner.

Based on what I was able to decipher of the submission text, that encode is correct: he edits one player's stats to make him godlike, and wins a 1-inning game by having that player hit a home run in the bottom of the inning.

From the Vault rules change thread:

Team-based sports and sports running with a fixed time, such as baseball, football, soccer, or basketball are not eligible. The run must not be seen as trivial. If a run consists of doing a trivial strategy, made only nontrivial by having to do it over the course of several rounds, it will still be judged as trivial. For example, bowling games where the player gets a strike with ten pins every time.
Completely trivial baseball run which breaks several rules.

User movie #34554351600061670 It's possible without any edits, but still not acceptable at all.
