And why is this named DSHawk? It wasn't developed by the hawk folks but ported. Keep the name "melonDS".

DSHawk is the nickname for the core, not what it's going to be named. Just like with PSXHawk or SaturnHawk.

Don't forget peripherals like a Taito Paddle, a Guitar Grip, a Rumble Pak, a Memory Expansion Pak, a Bluetooth Keyboard, and compatible GBA games. We could have SaveRAM for GBA and DS be independent so that we don't use up excess storage.

Has anyone managed to import an existing dsm movie into bizhawk and have it sync? I couldnt even get it play at all because of multiple error windows that came up.

Support has not been added yet at all.

Ok so support is being added, but it doesn't look finished yet.

This might sound dumb, but how does one use the stylus in DSHawk? Changing the input settings still won't let me do anything?

You simply click the touch screen like how you would in desmume. If youre using a laptops little mouse pad built in while in frame advance, it wont register. Unpause the emulator and clicking should work. If you use an actual mouse adapter, it works fine under frame advance for some reason. Thats just from my testing.

I downloaded the latest interim build (should be https://github.com/TASVideos/BizHawk/commit/631fedcd9cf84a457d34e24895137edb849d02ef), and my touch screen config says "WMouseL". Using a wireless mouse, not the laptop touch pad. Is the mouse driver a potential problem? Also switching from a GBC rom to DS seems to crash BizHawk. DS to GBC seems fine however.

It seems like it might be. I used a wired mouse and it works. You can also use the virtual pad if all else fails.

In Sync Settings, change "MelonDS" name to "Phoenix", reboot the core, check the Sync Settings, name is changed back to "Bill Nye" (name in the firmware I have). BizHawk version: BizHawk_Developer-2020-05-07-225140

I found that setting sync settings in emulation works the best to keeping those settings changed. Maybe this isnt somthing that's supposed to happen.

It seems that I was able to find a way to get around the name problem in the bios quoted above with a "neutral" bios in .nds
SHA-1: 2507BC8F8C3F2741AC67CADD22640CC8E1A2368A
Would it be possible to implement a way to dump the video according to the orientation of the screens? (normal, side by side etc?) Is it planned to implement an option to improve the native resolution as on Desmume X432R for example?

This was a treat to try out on Bizhawk. Most DS games I've tried seem to work fine and play well with little issue. Good job guys. The only games that seem to have issues I've noticed are games made by n-Space. All seem to share the same problem of having sound chopping and frame drops that aren't native to the game when there's a few models/objects on screen (Especially when there's voice acting) 007: Blood Stone, Goldeneye 007, Goldeneye Rouge Agent, All of the Call of Duty Games, TRON - Evolution, Star Wars - The Force Unleashed, etc etc. All seem to have this problem and I think it's the game engine that MelonDS just doesn't agree with.

yeah I gotta say, having MelonDS in BizHawk has made casual play of most DS game really nice to do. Been using it mostly to play Ace Attorney games and they work out well. great job everyone.

Can there please be a way to: 1. "Unhold" the stylus in TAStudios. Right now, if you were to use record mode, stylus position is set even if you're not clicking anywhere. Please make it so it's like DesMuMe where if I don't click on the screen, there's no touch input, so it won't have long columns of TouchX + TouchY with numbers, but "T" for touch is not set. 2. Allow vertical and horizontal bars to visualize where the stylus is like DesMuMe. The numbers by themselves are helpful for those who can't picture what position corresponds to which number. 3. Allow to set a touch coordinate in TAStudios by clicking on the emulator screen. Virtual Pad is disabled in TAStudios, but at least make it so there's a way to set "TouchX", "TouchY" for 1 frame by clicking on the screen. (Out side recording mode for 1 frame, touch screen, then disable it). That's risky when I want to change 1 coordinate for 1 frame with visuals. 4. .dsm files converted to bk2 treats no stylus input as
| 0, 0,...............T|
When I open it in TAStudios. Can this please make it so that it converts treats touch as false (the last value on the right)?[/code]

Does any dsm file converted to bk2 even sync with any of our published runs? Lego star wars ii the original trilogy comes with some error that something out of bounds on latest interim. I never succeeded with even getting 1 frame imported. Because lego star wars ii doesnt require bios, its recommended to not have it on as it may cause desyncs.

You can't always expect movies made on old emulation to sync on newer emulation.

I didnt expect it to sync, I was just expecting some kind of playback. It doesnt even try to play it back. Just an error saying a given key wasnt present. Several times too.

Sometimes it works with the virtual pad, sometimes not, sometimes it works with a mouse (wireless, not tested with a wired one) sometimes not. Over the last couple of days I've been trying to test a few games that are only playable with the stylus, neither the virtual pad nor the mouse works on my laptop (but the mouse works on my desktop, though sometimes with a few or many pixels between the actual position of the mouse and the actual position on the touchscreen, the closer you get to the edges of the screen (I get the impression (maybe it's because I'm on a large 4K screen, so I've increased the scaling of the application display?)))

Exactly, that would be really nice! I guess it's already possible to do it in lua, but having very little knowledge in this language, I wouldn't know how to do it easily. Including the position as in Desmume with horizontal and vertical bars would also solve the last problem I mentioned before.
