No, it's been clear that not many people care about that specific incident in isolation (I think only some staff members and one or two regular members tried to steer the conversation that way, worried more about losing 850 YouTube users than about the bullying against our TASers by some staff members). Most regular users only wanted to say their piece about the response the administrators had regarding the culprits. Specifically, Nach's trying to imply that this thing wasn't that serious ("this wasn't a kidnapping or a murder") or telling HappyLee that only those who wronged him should apologize, for example. And as I said, my talking about Spike's toxicity was in response to adelikat's reasons (posted in this thread) for not banning/removing Spike from staff because they valued him very much, enough to make them overlook some stuff that would/should have gotten other people banned. (Usually moderators would split or rename a thread to make it clear what people are talking about, then others don't come around to complain about users not following the thread's name. But since most of Nach's posts have been about trying to hide this discussion behind "this thread is only for the TVC flooding", maybe none of them wants to touch it, since Nach's responses wouldn't make much sense anymore.)

Him dicking around here isn't in any way related to the flooding incident.
Yes, it is related. adelikat posted that they decided not to ban Spikestuff or remove him from the staff because he was valuable. Then I replied, telling him why it was a bad idea not to remove a toxic member, even if he may appear valuable. Now we were discussing why Spikestuff is or isn't a toxic member. adelikat is an admin of our community, so I believe it is important to let him know if we agree or not with what he had written. Posting many times to say "this isn't 100% related to the first post or thread name", though, can be annoying and it breaks the conversation other people are having.

It puzzles me a bit that someone said to have lost interest in TASing because of him, but then the only interaction they ever had was about soccer. Calling soccer a shit sport is something I could say myself in a bad day, so honestly I think we could be more tolerant with these smaller things.
I'll have to address this silly thing since you're the second person mentioning it. I don't give a fuck about anyone calling soccer a shit sport or whatever they think of it. My emulators have been called shit since the first day, I personally have been called a retard, a dick and a million of other worse things in these forums, which I didn't mind because we were in the middle of a discussion and I probably deserved it. But, if you join a thread about something just to tell the other members that this thing is shit... Imagine if I were to write several toxic posts in the anime thread to tell other people to stop watching retarded stuff for kids and losers and instead watch only smart indie movies from Iran or whatever? What would that make me? (And I disliked him way before that incident, as you can tell from my response in that thread. I've been here for years before he came, and he's always been the same. That was the only time I bothered to interact with him, thus why I used it in my example here.)

You're right, my mistake. I honestly wanted to be helpful, but this is not the place or time. I should have sent him a PM instead. Back on topic, if I had been the victim of something like what happened here, the least I'd expect from the administrators is to remove these people from the staff. The reasonable thing I'd expect is to have them banned and then receive a formal apology from the remaining staff. Instead, what the victims got from this is an admin (Nach) downplaying what happened, trying to quell down the discussion, and disrespecting other members who were mad at what had happened and how it has been handled. I wouldn't like to imagine what a victim feels every time he has to see his bullies still around and even in the same position as before...

People are usually nicer than me. Your problem isn't just that the posts are long, it's that you don't say things very clearly. Take this paragraph for example:
Aran Jaeger wrote:
To respond to this in short: I did not say this and I don't see where one would either see some of my messages as indicating this or which of my messages would reasonably be interpretable as having this meaning. And as second thought, I would in general suggest reading over compactified information (in form of text) slower or multiple times to possibly increase the capability of comprehending sentences that (e.g.) I wrote, in order to avoid misunderstandings like this one (as it to me appears to be one).
Maybe you could've just said: "That's not what I meant, you should read more carefully." About the rest of your post, it doesn't make any sense at all. It's just a longer version of Nach's "Why are you using the singular when it is plural?" (By the way, making a post with so many quotes in it, just to dissect every little thing the other person said, makes it even harder to read.)

@Aran Jaeger: Damn, your posts are kind of unreadable. I'm sorry if I sound rude, I'm just trying to help. You should read a book called The Sense of Style, at least the first chapter which treats your problem directly. I'll try to answer what I think the main points of your posts were: 1. Just forget I ever even wrote the word "toxic". The article explains everything in detail (and what we meant by "toxic"), so I'd say anyone managing a community with a valuable but "unfitting" member should read it completely, not just my silly post. (In any case, thanks for telling me what words I should use and how should I feel. You would make a great censor.) 2. You're saying there's a lack of evidence about Spikestuff doing harm, in a thread discussing his abuse of power just to humiliate another member of the community. In case that's still not too clear for you, here's another example from my only interaction with him: everyone was happily talking about the 2018 FIFA World Cup in a thread named "2018 FIFA World Cup". He came out of nowhere just to say "Don't watch a shit sport" and similar stuff in several posts: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=472417#472417

Also another way to look at "if you do a lot of work for the site you get away with stuff" is to say "This community means a lot to someone, and it drives them to do an insane amount of work FOR the site and people". Encoding and publishing is hard, takes a lot of technical expertise and isn't glamorous. It means a lot to me how much our publishers, especially Spikestuff do this for the community year after year.
That reminds me of this: https://blog.vanillaforums.com/product/dealing-with-toxic-community-member "The Jeremy Clarkson Effect is when a toxic presence in a community has value too high for them to be easily removed." Personally, I think Spikestuff does a lot more harm than good. It certainly has made me lost most of the interest I had in PSX TASing, reading these forums or joining the Discord server (servers, actually, as I had also joined the Japanese TASers server, but I couldn't stomach to read him there too). I'm sure a lot of (probably even better) people would come out of hiding and help with encoding and publishing if you remove such a negative person from that role... For example, I was an even more toxic person than him when I was working on some emulators. When I stopped working on them, more and better programmers came and no one missed me (in fact, anyone who knew me probably was happy that I had stopped posting.)

Firstly, most 2D games on the PSX just use flat polygons, even though the hardware has functions to quickly display 8x8 and 16x16 sprites like older 2D consoles. On the PSX, 2D games mostly use the same functions as 3D games to draw their graphics. Secondly, games can run at any frame rate they want/can. There are many purely 3D games that run at 60 FPS and there are many purely 2D games that run at 30 FPS or lower. Many 2D games even struggle to keep 30 FPS at all times. Finally, I'm glad I don't have to deal anymore with ungrateful users who treat me like shit for making some free software for them.

I believe you're only allowed to set the CPU overclock slider within MAME and it can't be saved in any way. (Because people forgot they had saved/automatically changed it and they would later report fake bugs.)

It's also nice that Europe has dominated international football for well over a decade now, something that no continent had managed before.
Considering UEFA now has three times as many teams in the competition than any other continent, that's no surprise. South America is the only other continent who usually wins the World Cup, and they only get to have 4.5 teams (compared to 14 for Europe.)

Hey, I'm not Brazilian. I'm from Argentina, their rivals. Though you found my words about Spain to be trolling, pretty much everyone who cares about football agrees that Spain was the worst champion of the modern era. 2010 was the start of the anti-football that dominated this world cup: extremely boring, purely defensive, zero creativeness, etc. Now every team has turned into a hybrid child of Spain and Italy. Next world cups will have even more mediocre teams added, so things are only going to get worse. As a Spaniard, it's no surprise you found this world cup to be a blast. But as an Argentine, Brazil (even though we hate them) and Belgium were the only teams fun to watch, playing real football, taking chances and being creative.

I didn't even know this was a thing. How do these players not know the rules?
There are at least 5 million rules, changing all the time. This whole thing started (IIRC) with a viral post showing a picture of Portugal leaving a single player inside the field after scoring a goal, otherwise Spain could have resumed the game without waiting for all of them to end the celebration and come back. This rule is obviously fake, but it appeared everywhere... Then Panama and England tried to apply it. For what it's worth, one of our 1986 champions told the story about how they trained for the celebrations: always leaving one player in the middle of the field protecting the ball, to prevent the other team from resuming the game. So, this probably was legal at some point in the past.

Croatia played the worst possible match they could play. They made all the same mistakes Argentina did, except they could have prevented them this time if they had watched that match first. France was an awful team (almost as bad as Spain in 2010), but they're the champions and that's what everyone will ever care about. In a few weeks, no one will remember that Brazil was the best team or what a bunch of nice people the Japanese were. This is how you win a cup when you're not Germany or Brazil.

they shouldn't have been surprised - England's performances in youth tournaments over the past few years have been very good, culminating in victory in the Under-20 World Cup last year.
For comparison's sake, Argentina won the Under-20 World Cup 5 times (out of 7) from 1995 to 2007. They also won the Olympics gold medal in football (which is Under-23) in 2004 and 2008. Our main team hasn't won anything since 1993.

Neymar. Then, many levels below him, Mbappé, Lozano, maybe Pulisic if USA get their shit together; also Isco, Lukaku, Coutinho, Salah, Hazard, Griezmann, and many others still ~30 yo by then. I haven't been impressed by many young players in this cup! That Japan v Belgium game was heartbreaking...
