heh, i am looking at the cases for ff7/8/9, all of which i have still not beaten. i think i got to super kujo or whatever in 9, just got off the space ship making out scene in 8 and am looking for a key or something, in the ocean, in 7... basically it comes down to laziness

What's ecco gonna do, talk to flipper? all that god damn dolphin does is shoot out talk-vibrations whereas flipper actually kicks some ass, iirc. edit: damn, i think i just remembered that ecco has some sort of charge attack... >_>

I enjoyed watching this. Oddly enough, almost every level reminded me of some other platformer game. But I do have a question. Would it be possible to manipulate the rocks to fall closer to the swing-apult thingy at the cave cat boss?
iirc they always fall in the same place... but i havent played this thing in 10 years, so my memory probably sucks :P

I never realized how much i hated playing some of these levels... infact, most of the game. Yet, for some reason, I loved that game... weird. Yes vote for rocking my morning.

Wall jumping in realtime IS a matter of luck. The timing and collision point must both be precisely met, and isn't reliably accomplished by skill alone. If you practice at it for a fair amount of time you should be able to get a few jumps in as a fluke, but that's about it.
agreed. although i do not watch all of the smb speedruns, the only one i have seen in real time is by Andrew Gardikis. Of course, i am sure there is other examples; considering this guy played the game constantly for quite a while, getting a consistent wall jump is possible, but only under extreme circumstances. edit: heh, looks like it is easier than i thought, but as stated, consistency takes practice ;) edit2: woah, turns out andrewg is andrew gardikis... mind blowing

did you accidentally miss the elevator boss' left-middle arm a few times? you seemed to have clung to the wall a bit low and, iirc, that arm required more hits to kill than the other three arms. i may be mistaken, but that is what i saw that could be improved (if, indeed, those hits missed) on the train level, i noticed you stood around and waited for the boss to come to you (the red guy) quite often. is he invincible during this time, or is there another reason you chose to stand still? from the way i saw it, it looked sloppy. my movie desynched for the forge D-: lookin good otherwise, though!

Just watching the first three levels, I have several gripes. 1. why are you not running more often? you seem to slow down for reasons unknown (aside from 1 or 2 instances where you need to avoid damage, so you you dont die) 2. why do you take the time to hit that P button? why not skip it? 3. why did you feel the need to bounce on some of those music boxes; they tend to slow you down. 4. why did you collect three stars? the star animation thingy takes, like, 10 seconds to complete. if there was one place in your run that you should slow down, slowing down infront of the end-level box would be a good place to do it (so collect 2 stars and a flower). have you watched the tas of smb3? if not, you really should, in order to see some pointers on how to make your movie faster and look cleaner. (are you using frame advance?) edit: also, have you decided to not do the spades and all mushroom houses? your previous post says you will be, but you skipped all of the special areas (aside from the white mushroom house) in World 1. edit2: heh, misread. my apologies ^_^;

well, what i would suggest would be to get the coin ship first, and (after beating all the levels for the world) come back and take on the hammer bros again. reasoning being that you dont need to beat a level in order to kill a hammer bro, but you must beat a level in order to get the coin ship to appear.

It's interesting to see someone attempt 100% in smb3. Definitely looking forward to the wip. Btw, what are you considering 100%? I think for starters it should be all levels (required and optional) and all hammer bros. Not sure what other criteria would have to be considered to make it a 100% run though.
the only optional item that i would consider adding for a 100% would be all 3 warp whistles.

OK. dehacked.com worked. Here is a practice TAS of SMW2 1-1 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1784331918/SMW2_girfanatic501.smv I will have SMB3 V.1 up soon. My computer isn't working right currently (I have 2, the one malfunctioning isn't the one I'm using.) Also, I have found out roue that could be possible (but hard) not using L+R so that glitch is out of the question. I can't guarantee a "glitch-less" because when I try to grab a mushroom in 1-1, i get stuck in a block and ejected into a pit XD. BTW: I used Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (M3) (V1[1].0) [!] for the above movie. I can't find anything better.
wait... so are you trying to run smb3 or smw2? your posts are sending me mixed messages like crazy, and as such i am confused.

Well, the flock screensaver actually works on os x 10.5, but i had found another that would work equally as well... had it been upgraded recently. i found the source code for the original swarm (i believe), idk if someone already posted it. after trying to compile and run this code in dev c++, there was a gray screen and that was all... anyone more 1337 than this "child programmer" see any reason why this ran the way it did? (e.g. gray instead of little things bouncing around chasing another little thing)?

oh i know the rules quite well, but i think an exception would be made if, for whatever reason, hard mode made the movie desynch consistently while normal mode play never desynched. granted, it is up for discussion, but that was my take... especially considering that hard mode doubles the speed of enemies and could cause desynchs more often. edit: off topic, but saxxon, i am from madison wisconsin too! ;D

havent viewed the WIP yet, but would a hard mode run even be worth it? if the double speed of enemies causes desynchs, i think a normal difficulty would be legit. granted, hard mode DOES make the game harder (i.e. no JUST more health for enemies, but actually increases difficulty)

all right guys, i feel retarded for asking this, but i need help finding a screensaver for an old ibm or mac platform. basically, i want to download and run this screensaver on my new machine. the model of computer was ~93-96, but possibly older. I remember seeing the computer's screensaver in action during 4th grade, which was the 96-97 school year. It had a black screen with one little red line being chased around by twenty little green lines, and it was great ;P Anyways, anyone have any ideas where i might find a download (free or share, doesnt matter) or, at the very least, which platform it was for? Here is what it looks like (but with less motion XD)
