all right guys, i feel retarded for asking this, but i need help finding a screensaver for an old ibm or mac platform. basically, i want to download and run this screensaver on my new machine. the model of computer was ~93-96, but possibly older. I remember seeing the computer's screensaver in action during 4th grade, which was the 96-97 school year. It had a black screen with one little red line being chased around by twenty little green lines, and it was great ;P Anyways, anyone have any ideas where i might find a download (free or share, doesnt matter) or, at the very least, which platform it was for? Here is what it looks like (but with less motion XD)

It's called Swarm, it's installed on my Linux machine, probably part of KDE 3.x. edit: the about box says
Swarm Copyright (c) 1991 by Patrick J. Naughton Ported to kscreensaver by Emanuel Pirker
so it's likely there are other versions around. Maybe those names will turn up some starting points on google.

I remember seeing something similar to this on someone's avatar. It's bloody hypnotic :) Sticky, if you find it, post your findings back on here. I might be interested in it too...

Why don't you try After Dark? It's really good, and it's been around on Mac (and PC) for more than a decade.

Does that even work on current-day Windows? I had that back on my 486. It was pretty damn cool, though... between AfterDark and More AfterDark I had over 100 modules.

Using the info that Tub posted, I was able to find this site and this site that were helpful with further searching. If you do a Google search for swarm.c xlock, it seems like you can find several versions of the source file for the swarm "screensaver" (the second link explains that it's not really a screensaver). The original does not appear to be for Windows, but the first link has a recreation of sorts for Windows.

You can get Really Slick Screensavers, which is free and has a flock screensaver.

Well, the flock screensaver actually works on os x 10.5, but i had found another that would work equally as well... had it been upgraded recently. i found the source code for the original swarm (i believe), idk if someone already posted it. after trying to compile and run this code in dev c++, there was a gray screen and that was all... anyone more 1337 than this "child programmer" see any reason why this ran the way it did? (e.g. gray instead of little things bouncing around chasing another little thing)?

You can download After Dark 10th Anniversary Edition and install it on XP (or possibly Vista)
