Because why should I need to go out of my way to download a third party app just for a basic function that should be default on the OS. It was perfectly fine on XP, an OS 8 years older than 7.
What about preserving the many numerous early movies and hacks that are only compatible with early emulators? Are they not a viable piece of cultural history too?
I can't run zsnes0.989 anymore on a modern PC to watch those runs from Zophar because the old, legacy support for DOS has been dropped and for good reason. But I can still make a DOS drive and watch or a DOS VM to watch from the OS.
What's the awesome reason for going 20 years in the past and dropping bilinear interpolation in favor of shitty point-sampling? Obviously this is not a technical obstacle. Why not go back to 256 colors too?
It's not just emulators but multitudes of programs that I'm having this problem on, sir. I will not abandon virtualdub for some bloated, malfunctioning garbage like Avidemux or the non-free overkill professional ones.
And I'm certainly not abandoning snes9x that many movies were made for.
If no one can suggest any solution I'm just going back to XP.
WOW. You're telling me that bilinear interpolation has gotten so resource intensive in the 21st century that it had to be phased out, chips getting twice as slower every 18 months and all? This really is retarded. And it's not the only example of how bad software sucks these days. Windows 7's photo viewer actually uses nearest-neighbor zoom, something last used in like Windows95.
Wtf is next? No more color support in the new Windows OS? Sigh. I should have never upgraded from XP, or should I say downgraded?
So is there any way to get around this?
Yes.
No it is not, I never touched the emulator's settings since upgrading. This problem only began after migrating to Windows 7. The files that hold the settings are exactly the same as they were on XP. A little coincidential that EVERY single emulator and program including ones I have only used once 5 years ago and the ones whose .cfg I have set to read-only a long time ago suddenly have no hardware acceleration, no?
I just upgraded to windows 7 and now the video in all the major emulators, FCEU, snes9x, ZSNES and others are all blocky when any bigger than their native resolution. I can't change hardware acceleration because the option to get there in windows 7 is greyed out.
Same thing with virtualdub when resizing the window.
How do I fix this?
I haven't though of this, thanks a lot Patashu. This was definitely faster and easier. I used to hack on games all the time in the past but now that I've grown up I have kind of lost the impulse even when I should have it. Being adult sucks, it's like you get dumber. ^^
That TAS was made with the Japan ROM. I don't wanna play the Japanese version.
Also that TAS doesn't complete them in the correct order. Link doesn't have the slingshot by the time he gets to Lord Jabujabu so I wouldn't be able to beat that level at all without re-completing Deku tree level.
Can anyone give me a save or state of OOT before completing Lord Jabu Jabu or right before the Dodongo boss?
I'm playing OOT retextured version and the settings were off before I realized they were after I completed Jabu Jabu level. I assumed nobody did any work on Jabu Jabu level so I didn't notice. Now I need to go back but I don't feel like playing all that way again.
I tried running an old speedrun (guanobowl) for OOT but it desynced after completing Deku Tree. He was headed for gerudo desert so I don't think this speedrun even has point before Jabu Jabu. Do any of them?
I got it to work even on the svn330 I didn't know the lua window had to stay open. I closed it last time. I feel so dumb now. I'll be using the latest version now, the 330 I had since forever to play the latest movies released because they desync on the 2006 visualboy. Now you all use that bizhawk which doesn't work on my computer period so I get the MKV movies instead. :)
Thanks for helping me out Bobo the King.
The script does not work. I am using VBA-rr-svn330.exe.
If I run the script without a game being open it crashes and if I run it while having a game open then nothing appears on the display inpuit.
No some parts are too slow and boring. I love the speedup key I've been using it since ever been using an emulator. Speedup key rocks! Thats one of the reasons besides save states that I preferred emulator to my real nintendo. But with computers becoming too fast now its not so good to speedup when it speeds up too much especially with gameboy that don't require so much CPU.
This is too awkward for regular play, it doesnt help that it only speeds up to 112% on first press then 125 then 150 etc., if it sped up to 400% right away then it would be better.
Sorry english is not my first language though I think I speak it fluently by now. Thing is I learned my basic english first from video games and people from online games so I learned the harsh tones first I guess, ha.
Bobo the king, thanks a lot.
No no, that makes it go Turbo regardless whether I'm pressing anything on the keyboard. I want it to turbo when and only when I press a button.
This is the only emulator I know where the Turbo control is so idiotic.
Hi I figured this out, it's done by hex editing part of the rom. Exp is divided by 7 by default and you can change it to 1 to get 7 times more exp.
An expert hacker gave me this pointer, I wonder how he figured out which of the 1 million bytes to edit?
I know there is an autofire trigger button where it makes the button turbo until you turn it off but I want a key to make a button turbo only when I'm pressing it.
I need to be able to use both regular B button and turbo B when I need.
Another question, is it possible to throttle a maximum CPU usage for Visualboy? With this i7 computer it goes way too fast when I press the speedup key, I actually miss my old computer now, HAHA.
How do I hack the rom? Would this take a long time? And I didn't know I would need a new code for every single pokemon, I thought all of them give consistent experience points depending on their level or if they're wild/trainer's pokemon?
Not sure if this is the right forum or if we're allowed to discuss cheat codes here but does anyone know a cheat code to gain 2x 4x or 8x the exp. from a pokemon battle? It would give the games very interesting replay value.
I already searched intensely for this on google so please only tell me what you know.
The pokemon runs on this site are amazing and do things beyond my imagination and all this only with input without hacks or cheats! So I figured you guys would be right people to ask for this kind of cheat code since you know how to use cheat codes in the game without even using them!
OmnipotentEntity, have you ever thought that perhaps if you were a bit less of a fuckhead that people would be more likely to reciprocate the opposite?
You were doing ok for a while, but you quickly fell into total dick territory even before the first page was complete.
More name-calling and accusations. Citation needed, my friend.
No thanks, the run is playable now albeit with some bugs. The submission page of that run should be updated with those save states though, or maybe just the .SRA as I couldn't get the save states to load at all.
Okay, so before this gets out of hand. I will say I was just poking fun at your comment and kept feeding you. I didn't expect this to get so big, lol. My bad.
Continue believing that I victimized you if you want, but observing that a 240p is really shitty quality that in no way compares to the original is the truth. Whether or not you wanna feel insulted is up to you, but don't put words into my mouth.
Good luck.
EDIT:
Last poke: It sure was easy to get the run you're asking help for to playback correctly =p. Sorry, had to do it.
It doesn't playback correctly. As I've said, it crashes on reset and save states get unpredictably corrupted. However, I've lost much of my respect for this community and don't have the patience for any further discourse than the bare minimum necessary to get this problem somewhat resolved.
Good luck to you.
If you enjoy 240p quality, you need to get your eyes checked. Virtually everybody outside of your little video game club would agree I'd think.

DVD, Blu-Ray, HDTV and quality settings on YouTube up to 1080p. Everybody else sure loves greater-than-240p resolution, I guess everybody is sick except you.
I'm sure being mean to others for doing something they don't even need to will surely lead you to a successful life.
I'm an encoder too, been one for 11 years and continue doing what I'm doing because I have a set of testicles and could care less about the hundreds of people critical of our group and about a dozen who spread propaganda and released fake rips in our name.
Capturing and encoding video game replays is pathetically easy and anybody can do it. You sure demand a lot of respect for using somebody else's codec to do something that takes no skill.
High-degree narcissism at its finest. Rejecting this unwarranted sense of self-importance is of course being mean, I imagine.

When you create good quality, you are commended. When you create bad quality, you are condemned. This is a fact of life regardless how you may wish it to be.
But you demand compliments regardless of your fruition. This is your problematic delusion.
When you get a job, you'll only profit if you create profit. If you don't, you lose the job and earn no more money and your boss certainly won't care how you otherwise feel about it.
I refuse to lie both to you and myself by satisfying your narcissistic demand for endless compliments and respect.
Nobody in the real world will either. Grow up.
Bad quality my ass. Aktan is the best encoder of the site and everyone agrees that he does the best encodes.

As you could probably figure out by now, quality is very subjective and we all have varying tolerance to lossy encoding. This is why it's fruitless for you to "disagree" about someone else's perception of good quality and attempt to force yours down their throat.
If you wanna have more credibility, show some numbers instead of meaningless opinions and whiny protests. Give me the average SSIM value of every frame compared to the lossless original. For me, anything below 0.99500 is noticeable quality loss and I can't watch it. Of course, that number varies with different sources. For captures of 2D games 0.99950 is indiscernible quality and easily achievable with low bitrates.
I'm sure insulting others for doing something they don't even need to will surely lead you to a successful life.

Except you didn't really give me the feedback, just stating it in a thread I had not noticed until now. Also I wasn't exactly complaining about it, but you were asking for some citation. I just gave you the citation. So do you think calling "sucks" is not insulting? This is what I think you believe currently.
You and several others accused me of throwing around insults when I was nothing but neutral with all of you and for that you've lost your right to a modest decorum from me.
I told you that the quality of the MKV capture I was watching sucked. Is it the content or the delivery you're complaining about?
Thank you. The save states are useless and dont work (I never saw a save state as small as 64KB before) but the .SRA helped and everything is in sync and playing smoothly except if I'm watching full-screen and the TASer resets the game, MUPEN crashes with Direct3D error, but is fine on windowed.
I kept periodically saving states as game progressed so I can reload if it crash, but my save state halfway through run before Volvagia boss didn't work and now is desynced again. Damn.
So... am I the only one that needed an .SRA in order to play the movie? Why is this even required? I've never played the japanese version of Zelda ever so I don't have any conflicting SRA files.
Aktan wrote:
Not sure why you need a citation. Calling anything "suck" is insulting as far as I know. Is it different for you?
Giving you feedback on the bad quality of some encodes is insulting? Sorry dude but grow some balls. Nobody will commend you for bad quality. Expecting only compliments and no criticism reeks of severe narcissism to me. This is a very good way to lead an unsuccessful life and learn nothing.
Okay let's make this clear: I do not watch encodes, ever. I only watch the perfect quality original on the emulator, the only exception I made is that super mario run where a guy played 4 ROMs at the same time because I didn't know how to reproduce that on the emulator. k?
insult people.
Citation needed. Sure are a lot of pretentious whiners on tonight. Your never-ending accusations are starting to get annoying. Is this a regular habit around here? If so, I wanna talk to your admin.
