When I have made a few seconds of gameplay in a tas, the input seems start lagging by one frame.
Are you using Keyboard or TAS Input? Because I know that if I use my Keyboard the input is delayed by 1 frame but if I use TAS Input, it is fine. Not sure if this applies to anyone else or just my PC/Dolphin
That makes no sense at all. tasinput just hijacks the normal input polling, it doesn't change anything else.

I intended to tas all debts in this game, and to that end, ran a bot to search for a map that would be good for it, for a number of months. I won't be able to do it though, and don't want to waste all that time put into it, since the hardest part is already done. If anyone wants to complete the tas, here is a dtm that gets this map. Would be pretty cool to see this tas get finished :D https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11111638/p/ac.dtm Made with dolphin 4.0-4191. It should still get the right map if you change the name/town name.

Something like that, yes. It is a determinism issue, probably because of using the wrong settings, or starting from a different state (wii nand isn't saved to the movie).

See http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12484 . Will most likely fix your issue. If not, you probably need to ensure your wii folder matches what it was when you started recording (usually the easiest way to do so is to delete it, and allow dolphin to recreate it).

Um...it should be? It just sends raw values within the limits of a real wiimote. Are you sure you're setting them right?

Does this happen in latest version? 4.0 is ancient.

Here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11111638/p/frame%20calc.zip Only works with wiimotes, if you have a gc controller connected it will not work.

Depends on the game. Open up the dtm and see. Some games change reporting mode constantly, others don't. The format is 1 byte indicating the size of the data, followed by the data. Some games may use one reporting mode on the health and safety screen, and then change it, and never again, which would make it easy to calculate. You'll have to see on a case by case basis though. You could also just hack dolphin to display the current byte, and play the movie back and see. Edit: actually i'll just write a quick program to calculate it, won't take long.

How do you find a frame's offset in a Wii .dtm? If I recall, GC is frame# ---> hex*8+1024
Write a program to parse the file. The length of the data for each frame is variable.

There are plugins for virtualdub that will allow you to use h264 videos.

Is there an ETA on this being finished and merged? I'd love to start the SMG1 any% with 2P enabled on a non-bootleg revision that includes this and a working AVSync.
It's already finished, just waiting to be merged. You can download it here https://dl.dolphin-emu.org/prs/pr-1380-dolphin-latest-x64.7z

"As long as I am near a piece during the right time, it will be skipped." You should probably try to route it so that you'll ALWAYS be near a piece at the right time. Why do you say you can move around faster? Is there something I don't know about, about Olimar's walking speed in the different versions? I haven't really played the Wii version much, but I don't think you can throw Pikmin farther either, I thought it maxed out at a certain distance (which I assumed was the maximum distance you could throw on GC). I might be wrong about that, though.
Yes, his walking speed is faster on wii, and yes, you can throw pikmin quite a bit further.

Even just from gameplay alone it's going to be much faster, just because you can move around faster, throw pikmin further, more accurately, and with instant aiming, without having to face the direction you want to throw them. It'll be a lot faster and a lot more entertaining.

Well, that's a tough question. All of the top runners play on GC, and only one person has ever gotten a 6-day run on Wii, as opposed to three people who have gotten it on GC. Most people play on GC, and none of the Wii runners have gotten a run even comparable to the top GC runs. So it's really hard to say.
I have a really hard time believing it's a hard question. Wii version is definitely faster by a ton.

Dolphin's load times are pretty accurate to an actual gamecube, and have been for a while now. I highly doubt any difference, if any, will be significant enough to affect strategies for anything.

I really want to know how the world will end if they try to tas it, and fail, or create something that you guys deem to be terrible? If it's bad, then oh well, it's bad. Don't watch it, don't help them, and vote no on the submission. The world won't be worse off because they make a bad tas. Who knows, maybe you'll be surprised. And even if not, at least it'll give a point of comparison for the next attempt. The worst thing that can come of them trying is they waste their time, and that doesn't affect anyone but them, so if they think it's worth trying, let them try.
