So I've recently finished making a TAS of Mario Party 9 controlling all 4 Emulated Wiimotes (won't submit it, it'll get rejected), but when I try to watch the movie, I keep getting this error message that says "Fatal desync. Aborting playback. (Error in PlayWiimote: 19!= 7, byte [insert random value].)" From what I remember, all of the settings were all the same before I went to watch it. There were no other programs running, the controller layout is the same, and not one Gamecube controller was present when I was recording the inputs (in other words, all 4 ports of the Gamecube controller section were set to "None"). In other words, everything was basically the same as they were before I began recording. I have read the Desync Help and Desync Help TAS pages, followed all of its suggestions, but nothing worked. And there are more things worth mentioning. When a playback movie has ended, Dolphin crashes. Dolphin even tends to occassionally crash when the previously mentioned error message pops up.

I went there, but everything was too confusing for me, and not a single problem included "TAS" in it. When I went to type up the issue, the questions looked nothing like it can be a TAS problem. I'm not too comfortable with this...

You should try making a new issue. There's a button for it that also displays a template on what to place. It's better since it gets more attention to the devs.

So I mentioned the issue there, and of course, I'll say something when things either do or don't work out.

Marked as "Invalid", and I receive suggested instructions I had already done but does not fix the problem.

See http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12484 . Will most likely fix your issue. If not, you probably need to ensure your wii folder matches what it was when you started recording (usually the easiest way to do so is to delete it, and allow dolphin to recreate it).

Out of curiosity: is the cause for the desync known? From what I can tell, the WiiMote reports IR data while recording, but doesn't during playback. To me, that seems like a determinism issue at first glance.

Something like that, yes. It is a determinism issue, probably because of using the wrong settings, or starting from a different state (wii nand isn't saved to the movie).

Nothing worked. Not even letting Dolphin recreate the Wii folder. I still receive that error message. Aaaaand I just got an even worse problem. It appears that Dolphin either fails to even load an ISO or it takes an extremely long time to load (approximately 10 minutes). This has recently become a frequent issue for some reason. Like I said, there are no other programs running, it's just Dolphin. Turned out it's just the computer I'm using. Still, I can't seem to play the movie without that error message. Even when the playback fails to load, the game runs fine, but when I stop the emulation, either Dolphin crashes or it just freezes.

Looks like I solved the problem with the error message. Apparently, the TAS originally had all 4 wiimotes connected to an extension (Nunchuck to be specific), and I had to set the extensions to "Nunchuck" before I began the playback (D'oh!). I swear, I don't remember either wiimote connecting a nunchuck before I began recording. (In fact, I went straight to watching the playback just after I finished recording.)

I've had that problem before, Dolphin crashing when a movie has Nunchuk data but yours isn't connected (and the reverse as well). Anytime you get a PlayWiimote error, I recommend checking the Nunchuk first.
