Game objectives

  • Emulator used: FBA-RR 0.0.7
  • Genre: Fighting
  • Uses hardest difficulty = LEVEL 8
  • Player character : Wan Fu
  • Purpose of this movie
    1. Make audiences feel refreshed by beating all CPUs up with powerful attacks, with maximum power (to be at the maximum stat with below)
    2. To show crazy moves, to attack enemies by "Exploding Confucious" which is not a popular to take a damage, basically at the end of the 1st round
    3. To give an entertainment, e.g. Deformed Transformation -> quick counter, some glitches - to get Perfect even with not full HP at Hanzo or Mizuki stage, Unnatural combo at the end of Wan Fu stage (Confucious Slash can't make 3 combos usually), copy opponent's movement at Wanfu Stage, Wanfu is behind the pillar at the end of some stages even though he is laughing, etc.
    4. With all of above, try to complete the game as quick as possible, try to beat all opponents before the time becomes below 80.

Comments

People loves Samurai Shodown series (Samurai Spirits) because players can beat their opponents with incredibly strong slashes when they are at the maximum power. I tried to get Perfect in all stages in Samurai Shodown 1 movie, however, it causes lack of excitement. Therefore, in this movie I tried to gain a maximum Power in every stages with the crazy special move, "Exploding Confucious", to hit player character's own head on the pillar. In order to avoid a big loss in-game, basically I used this one at the end of the 1st round. For some stages not.
Samurai Shodown 2 has more special moves so I didn't stick only to the finish move can damage the weapon (POWER SPECIAL: Wrath of God Blowout)
Other characters like Haohmaru has more powerful moves e.g. Heaven Supreme Sealing God Slash, however, Wanfu doesn't have rushing combo, so I tried to be dynamic even though I couldn't show many hit combos.

Other comments

Possible improvement
  • From entertainment viewpoint
    • Can leverage more Roll forward or Roll backward in order to be more tricky
    • Can leverage the movement, lie down, to avoid enemy's strong slash and give a counter. However Wan Fu is slow so the opportunity will be limited.
    • Can leverage more bare knuckle attacks? I don't think there is so much opportunity, just an idea.
  • From speedrun viewpoint
    • Try to have more counter attacks (limited opportunity)

Masterjun: Judging.
Masterjun: This movie fails in very similar aspects as your previous submission. This time, we have an actual faster publication, so for this to be accepted, it either needs to be faster, or it needs to be very high in entertainment. However, the viewer feedback was bad. Again, try either going for speed, or for entertainment. One of those aspects needs to be maximized.
Rejected.

Im a bit confused about the goals here. This movie says it’s a speedrun but if that’s what it’s going for, it’s slower then the publication: http://tasvideos.org/6004S.html As far as entertainment goes if that’s what it’s aiming for, this isn’t really a game that can make for an entertaining watch due to the amount of slowdown it has. Voting no.

This submission is doing things it's not, which is a weird way of saying it. - This does playaround methods but it isn't a playaround - This is a speedrun but it isn't a speedrun - It chooses slower methods rather than going for fast as possible as mentioned in the text What type of movie is this if it's not a speedrun or a playaround? This movie just reminds me of actual logic that fighting speedrunners would do by doing the backups as it's a pain to execute the fastest method, something we do.
If this is not a playaround this movie is then slower than the current publication. Don't really have to write this, but Abstaining from voting this time around.

This movie seems to be falling in the same pitfall as the previous submission - it tries to be sort of fast, as well as sort of entertaining, but it fails to achieve either. As pointed out above, a faster publication exists. As for entertainment, most fights come down to the same things, some strong hits or 2-3 hit combos and finishing with one of two finisher moves almost every time. It gets repetitive pretty quickly. No vote.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I checked description in his nicovideo and it said he were aiming for both speed and entertainment. (it applies to both his submissions) Abstaing vote because I didn't watch the run.

This comment applies to the Samurai Showdown Submission as well. Seeing as Ninja-kun wasn't responding to the comments on the forums for some reason I decided to make a comment on their YouTube informing them to have a look at what we're writing. Well to be exact I wrote:
