Game objectives

Comments

This was a game I was making back in the start of the year but kept putting it off. I finally decided to sit down and finish it.
the main objective is to get to the bosses of each stage and beat them. I try to finish every stage with one hit point remaining as the game will count down in stage clear the amount of health you have. this saves a few frames.
the other thing is every time you collect a weapon, you power up one level. so if you grabbed as many weapons as you can, you will get max level for each weapon. since the most powerful weapon is the Axe, I get that in stage 2
you also can collect bombs from enemies which can be thrown using the Run button. They are useful in some boss fights and in stage 5 to reduce lag.

Stage by stage comments

Stage 1

In this stage you just go right, I grab the weaker weapon as it has nice range and allows me to get up to level 3 pretty quickly. I use some bombs and jump on the enemy until he's dead.
I end the stage being in the middle of the screen as the camera forces you to be in the middle.

Stage 2

here we can get a weapon upgrade to axe. the water slows you down if you fall in it and the only way to get back up to speed is to jump on an enemy or get off land.

Stage 3

this stages has a ton of unavoidable lag, with the skeletons bursting out from the walls. the gooey enemies on the ground you want to avoid as they hold you in place until you jump 3 times.

Stage 4

this stage has alot of enemies to avoid and alot of climbing optimizations. I do the best I can to keep climbing but also taking damage from enemies to get that counter down.

Stage 5

this stage is alot of lag and bomb usage, one area uses bombs to eliminate the most amount of lag. most of the other lag in the rest of the stage is unavoidable.
for the boss, I do 3 hits on him while he's in the air, take a thing of damage then hit him 2 times to kill him isntantly

Stage 6

this stage uses some flies to eliminate most of the climbing.

Stage 7

this stage has tiles that can lock you in place for a short amount of time, I was able to avoid all of them.
there is one part where I manipulate some rockets to bounce off of them and climb up a wall, which i thought was pretty cool

Final Boss

for this boss, the 2nd phase will knock you back every time you hit him. However I found a way to eliminate that knockback. if you bounce on the enemy on the same frame you hit him, the knockback will be eliminated. I do this by bouncing on the hand hitbox and turn to him as soon as I land.

feos: Nice movie overall, damage boosts and strats on bosses stand out the most, as others already mentioned. Level 4 looks messy but also hard to route due to damage management, jumping, attacking, and dodging lots of enemies.
Regarding entertainment, the feedback was good, and I also appreciated the run because I was directly comparing it with the RTA record. In total it boils down to two kinds of gameplay: enjoyable superhuman play, and long and boring run-right-for-justice segments. The first game's movie is in Vault and has really low ratings but I don't think they are comparable. I'll send it to Moons, after all there was no negative feedback, and I can see why.
Accepting.

TurboGraphix is not a system that I know anything about, but it does surprise me. I almost thought this was a SNES game. Anyway... I think this is a good run. It certainly avoids the RTA catastrophes, such as avoiding the rear approaching enemies (early in the game), without slowing down. Damage boosting was used creatively, especially at 1:52 where the d-boost was used to keep from waiting on a platform to continue your trek upwards. Boss fights were quick and to the point. The only parts that I wonder about are the treks through water for some areas. I know the barrage of enemies has to be played around with, but jumping does seem necessary to avoid the slow downs...which is done mostly. At 2:13, I don't see any jumping. Great effort, enjoyable to watch. Yes vote.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

Neat game, though not really much like its prequel. (Wikipedia had some history about that, saying this game was basically a port of something else retitled to try and make it sound more appealing.) Super dark, and the music gets a bit grating. I like the stage design and boss fights though. Nice run! The climbs in stage 6 and 7 stand out, and great strategy to completely own that final boss.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Sometimes your axe turns to be yellow. Is it just graphics or does it have any effect?

It was good to watch. Gameplay is not much complex, but I feel that this game would be pretty hard to play in real time, so it looked pretty superhuman to me. Apart from that, I appreciated the the jumping tricks and the quick boss fights. Yes vote. By the way, what's up with the game choice? It's so esoteric, and gets more and more dark through. And that ending it's a double plot twist :D

This is why I love PCE titles, because there’s so many different types of game choices that have incredibly weird thing in them. Also fun fact, the reason why I used the USA version instead of Japanese is because the ending where a woman lunges at you is naked in the Japanese version, so to be more modest I went with USA.
