Game objectives
  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.2.2
  • Genre: platformer
  • Aim fastest
  • Take damage to save times
  • Enable kill cheat glitch
  • A improve version from Challenger
Tips and Tricks (only new)
  • Create game bug: at level 1, before change first map scene, select end game. If correct, game will crash, freeze or show break images
  • Use Kill cheat: after create game bug, make soft reset for enable cheat access. Then bind this cheat to a buttoon. It can kill every enemy on screen
Notes
  • Create game bug can work on all version, but use kill cheat isn't work on Japan version (maybe because it don't have). For easy understand how it work, try watch this
  • Most strategies/actions I used from Challenger version.
Possible beat this run
  • When create game bug in few times, if have lucky, can start game at level 8. It'll save very much frames. But it also make break images and animations, very hard to control. I was tried but I can't handle this probllem. Sorry, it need some magicans to do

The english manual doesn't mentions these (password and cheat menu). The japanese one... well, I can't speak japanese.

The above in better English: To use the cheat normally, you have to input a special password, then use an additional input combination (code) to access the cheat menu/cheats. The glitch bypasses the password requirement. It does not bypass the input combination (code) to access the cheats. My opinion: As the glitch only skips the first of two requirements to access the cheats, the second requirement is still unacceptable cheat code use, based on our current rules. If a way could be found to glitch past both requirements, it would be acceptable.

Note that the cheat that kills all enemies with X does not require the input combination, but just the password (or the SRAM glitch). Edit: actually, the kill cheat requires both the password and the secret input sequence, but none of them are used in the submitted movie.

The routine "kill all enemies on screen" is still a cheat; whether this is activated by the X button or by the Konami code is irrelevant. Note that around 0:50 in the movie, this cheat function has to be explicitly bound to the X button in the config menu. I don't think this should be valid.

Since lately the discussion in this thread has derailed from the specific submitted movie to the game research in general, I wanted the last 18 posts moved into the relative game thread. About this submission, I'm postponing the verdict until I'm sure that the game can be reasonably beaten faster by making use of the level warp glitch, as well as making sure that such hypothetical run would not break any rule.

The thread where our discussion was moved has a post showing a much faster, 1:41 TAS. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=440092#440092 As I see it's a totally legit TAS and completes it nearly 30 minutes faster than this TAS. Edit: it uses japan version. Currently getting softloxks at 2nd game end, before heavy corruption scene. Some basic route based on video encode: - [MENU] - [GAME END] after running jump while bumping the wall (can lead to crash under some specific circumstances) - [MENU] - [GAME END] after maybe ducking and jump down? (sprites already garbled) - [MENU] - [GAME END] after "heavy corruption" (you look like a soldier and sometimes a skeleton), jump down - He straight ahead respawns and probably press menu right before dying because of 0 health bug - He checks the menu and it says level 41 95:49 and password can be seen - He inputs the shown password to warp to level 20 - Somewhere near the end of the movie it says 36 minutes left from time and as far as I see the Prince saved the Princess I think it's safe to say there's no reason behind not rejecting this movie for being suboptimal. On the otherhand it's good to know we can use the cheat kill, theoritically improve upon the japanese TAS.

get die for show lv 20 password I think it isn't glitch, maybe juust something like as secrets from devs https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/588588-prince-of-persia/cheats and put password for skipp levels will be reject

If that glitch setup is used in a new movie, but not here, this one can still be accepted, depending on the details of the difference between using the glitched setup and avoiding it.

Ahhh I have confuse with TAS rules... That clip I had seen before make this run but I thought it'll reject because put password for skip levels, and it don't have any entertaiment for show. That's why I was passed it Something thought yes but almost no, and else... Facepalm...

We can use the cheat kill only if it's enabled by a glitch, and not by inputting a secret password.

1. The japan TAS warps to level 41 after 3rd game end and brings the menu to avoid 0 health. 2. He checks thw paasword the game provides, game end, inputs this paasword 3. Chances are high that the kill cheat glitch is activated before inputting this legit paasword Athis means that rhis aubmission contains many unrequired parts for doing the same route.
