This TAS does not use the recently discovered Demo% Route. Instead the goal in the taken route is to go through all of Porky's dreams and ultimately defeat Daffy Duck.
Demo% is when you let the game cycle through the demos it shows you after you wait on the start screen, then hold start while the 3rd one loads. This allows you to control Porky in the 3rd demo and complete the game.
This TAS was originally for personal use. I was using it to see how to improve my own run. Since it contains a few things the only other TAS of this game does not, I decided to submit it.
Tricks:
Moonwalk
Holding Left and Right at the same time forces Porky to walk left while in the animation for walking right. This minimal animation reduces lag frames in certain parts of the game. It can be made more visually interesting by alternating Left + Right with just Left, every other frame. This causes Porky to spin, or something like it.
Slope Jumping
Porky keeps 4 units of speed when jumping off a slope for a few frames if you don't hold a direction.
The Camera Trick
You can move the camera while Porky is stationary. This allows you to load in sprites a bit earlier and get them to more beneficial positions.
Sprite Glitch
If you alternate left and right ever other frame bosses will not advance to the next sprite they would use. They do advance as soon as you stop alternating left and right. This leads to either complete garbage being on the screen (see 2nd boss), or is used to save a few frames by forcing the boss to not be animated.
Zip/Enter Ceiling
The old TAS enters ceilings by holding the X button while on an ascending platform. This has been improved by holding down + x, then releasing x while in the ceiling. This zips Porky backwards. It saves many seconds over that old TAS.
Improvements over old TAS:
Frames saved thanks to Sprite Glitch on 4th boss. Added early hit on Tweety before he falls at the start of the fight. Zip added in Atlantis. Improved weather manipulation. (Some weather takes longer to load than others)
Input ends before final hit on last boss.

I made a crappy encode. https://youtu.be/ZXjr01LEVdc I don't know that this game will ever be interesting to watch. This is just what I had after I was done messing around learning how to TAS. Learned a few things, and it is quite a bit faster than the old one.

it's cool to see a new TAS for this game come up, as I have been seeing the current one many times. the game is so creepy for a loony toons game. the only thing I would ask about is when you get that helium in the first level to float up, you grab it from the bottom, wouldnt it be faster to get it from the top?

If I recall, I grabbed it from there because you rise at such a rate that you'd hit the spikes if you grabbed it from the top. I could be remembering wrong.

by the way, I'd reccomend editing your submission to include the encode so people dont ignore the post.

I'm surprised with these new glitches and improvements! But I noted that you lost some frames on some paths, such as skipping the Sunsoft logo a bit later (music is notable); other, on the options screen; and not ending input eariler as possible before the last hit on the last boss (you stopped the movie some frames after the defeat). I haven't compared the stages completely, because I'm very busy on this week. So, I'll not to vote at the moment. Did you compared the stages? Also, if the demo glitch can skip to the half of stage 5, It sounds much better for this game, since the published run is on Vault.

I was a bit sloppy before starting the first stage. It wasn't until late into the TAS that I learned they were timed from system on and not from the start screen. That and a few minor things I noticed later in the run didn't seem worth going back and fixing due to the fact I would have to change most everything after them. Since a frame difference would mean different weather/background on every stage of the game. And that would cause each screen to load slower/faster by a few frames to many frames. And that would cause the swinging chains and balls to be in different places. Edit: I did compare the stages to the other TAS, to be sure I wasn't messing up. I think everyone stage but The Mines was faster. The Mines just lined up terribly and I couldn't fix that without messing up The Alps. I tried to get the best weather, chain swings, and swinging balls I could.

Aside from the questionable opening and ending input (Heavy-Spiking needed). This TAS is done well (enough) and improves on the previous publication. My vote is Meh for entertainment.

the music in this game is eerie, seems like something made by satan himself sometimes lol yes vote
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Oh! Never noted this when I worked on my run before. I decided to TAS this game again to include the demo glitch. EDIT: Found some paths that is slower than my run (Actually there are more paths that I haven't checked yet). Strong No vote!!!

I have worked on ''demo glitch'' TAS and comparing by framecounter (from the beginning of the second half of stage 5 until the end input on the last boss), it's 477 frames faster on these levels (actually I improved more paths on stage 6, but lost due of a global timer on the chain swings - you need to wait until the rope reaches exactly where is possible to proceed - on the first bathroom room). Another possible improvement for all levels is more lag reduction. Link: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/62287509/porkypigshauntedholiday-demoglitch.bk2 (almost completely optimized. Some more lag reduction could be possible, I think)

I definitely think demo % is a better way to show this game. Besides setting up skip to stage 5, there's much less down time. I'm very happy to see it optimized with new routes and tricks. Since this demo % TAS is obviously better than the full TAS, should I remove from consideration the full TAS? Or, is it at all useful archived or something?

I don't know exactly if a full TAS still could be possible to accept, because since the published run is in the vault, probably the ''demo%'' could be considered to a fastest ''any%'' run (I think).

Yeah, a demo% run would be considered a faster any% for Vault purposes, and obsolete the published run and this submission.
