I've started experimenting with frame-by-frame play for the minigames in this game. If we can pull a route planner (and maybe someone who's patient enough to do the battles frame-by-frame) then this can get going again. Of course, that means my playthrough is going to have to start over again since my experimenting started against Wiggler...

Notes (and I apologize if anyone posted notes like this before): Both A and X can be used to advance text boxes, independent of which set of characters are having the text boxes. It's faster to have Luigi open boxes that you need to go past because he's taller. If you're in a position where you can open two Attack Piece Boxes at the same time (the Trash Pit is a good example), whatever brother hits the box first opens their box. The other box does not open. It may be possible to hit both boxes on the same frame, though I don't know what brother gets priority in that case. Probably Mario. Because the doors in the Trash Pit are locked until you gather the attack pieces, there's no skipping getting Green Shell. Green Shell feels easier for me to do in realtime than at frame-level. I don't know if there are any major improvements available to the route, but the battles... eeech. I want to say that Wiggler can be improved - I seem to remember that you can punch out the wiggler's 4th segment before he does his charge at you, saving a turn from this video each time. Plus the heavy reliance on the multi-hit abilities leads me to believe that a lot more luck manipulation than what happens here should be going on.

Right, and I think luck has to be manipulated before battle :/

I'm thinking more and more about the route now... I've not actually completed the game myself so I don't know which Attack Pieces are required (I watched the video so I know Green Shell and Snack Basket are required), but skipping over some of them may be very beneficial - it depends on damage vs time spent as to whether some should be skipped or not. Also, Daredevil Boots from A-rank Jump Helmet in the Cholesteroad will be worth it since the only forced damage in the game goes to Bowser well before you can get it.

Edit: yes for boots Also, we have problem with luck, I tried once but didn't managed to manipulate it >.<

Don't know if anyone's still working on this, but BIS (U) uses the same RNG advancement and Lucky! chance formulas as Partners in Time. RNG address (U) - 0x0205bac2 (16-bit) RNG advance formula: next_rng(x) = floor(x * 41 / 2) & 0x7fff, + 0x8000 if x was odd. Lucky chance = floor(Attacker STACHE / 4 - Enemy Level / 8), clamped to [1, 99]; you get a lucky hit with RNG value seed iff next_rng(seed) % 100 < Lucky chance.

Nice to see that RNG was figured out! I actually wanted to TAS this, but the problems with the RNG prevented me to do that. Now, it will be easier to figure out what advances RNG and get lucky hits. Now that I know more about RNG for this game, I plan to TAS this game. Help for routing would be appreciated.

Also, I was thinking about getting magic window since it is an infinite attack. In combination with the daredevil boots, it would make fights a lot faster. The downsides are that it cost 18 SP and that it is extremely out of the way (In Bowser's castle and fighting 3 shroobs with 500 HP each)

What you have so far seems fine but there isn't exactly much interesting stuff yet. I would look into intentionally inducing Bowser's fury on the sea pipe statue fight. Bowser enters fury on a random hit after taking a certain number of hits. Two of the spinning in Bowser's belly attacks should do enough hits to get Bowser into fury. I don't know if Magic Mirror would be worth it. By the time you're able to get it, the only bosses left are in Peach's Castle. Maybe you could get it in time for Bowser's Memories fights as well, but idk. Falling Star is really good too, and is able to destroy the Dark Star Core in two turns with D-Star Wear (randomly dropped from the Dark Star).

I will try to look into that. When I checked with the address, the RNG changes very rarely (once every 3 or 4 seconds) in battles which might make it difficult to manipulate fury. I just tested on the very first battle though so I don't know how it changes with different attacks.

That isn't too surprising if the RNG behaves similarly to that of partners in time.

Well at least lucky hits work the same way as Partners in Time so they might not be too hard to manipulate.

In the video that Kurabupengin linked, you can save a small amount of time at 42:48 by climbing the bone staircase first, then dropping straight down for the Picnic Wear (if that's an item you still want in your run).

I just checked and picnic wear is pretty much useless. It adds 15 to DEF and sells for only 7 coins.

Ok, could be usefull for that. Syrups cost 15 coins so I need to sell some stuff. I can get 3 1up mushrooms in the Trash pit very fast and they sell for 6 coins each.
