TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand
Glad somebody finally made a video of how Kooper Skip is done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgvhHRELJQ4
English versions only. Hard to say if skipping Kooper saves more time than the JP text, but I think the TAS should be done on English regardless, unless you can figure out how to do it on JP.
I worked on the first two rooms. Uploaded to show optimal spin movement.

Sweet!
What's your configuration on Bizhawk? I remember there was still some flickering during the very first battle against Bowser, but it was long time ago when I got that.
The flickering is fixed in Bizhawk 1.9.1. I use Glide64 video plugin for N64 too and emulation seems very smooth. Also make sure you have Interpreter Core activated.

We have decided that because Kooper skip does not work on Japanese, the TAS will be done on English. Though some time will be lost due to text, time will be saved overall.
That video is now obsolete since I've gained greater understanding for how to optimize in this game, so I'll upload my improvements later. Thanks for the support :D

I'm hoping for about 1 hour 30 minutes, but I'm not entirely sure if that's a good estimate yet.
The PAL version is also English.
Anyway, here are my improvements, though I also am going to try some RNG manipulation after talking to Goompa on the balcony so the Goomba by the gate doesn't move as far down.

I believe I've noticed a possible improvment.

That's linked to 8:01 in the video.
When you go to open the door, Mario needs to walk to a predetermined spot so that the door opens. The first time you go into this door (7:02), you'll see that Mario needs to walk a shorter distance as you are opening the door from the left side. For this door, you can probably save time if you find the best location on the door to open it so Mario needs to walk the least.
"I think we can put our differences behind us... for science, you monster."
It might actually be faster in this game because Mario doesn't wait before gaining the ability to move after entering buildings, so I will check that.
EDIT: It's equally as fast to open the door from any position.

Alright, the Prologue is done. I'm going to keep it unlisted until the full run is almost done. It'll be a teaser for the full thing. Working on Chapter 1 now and it is about to get really hype.
