So apparently I found a new glitch: Link to video

Unspin Clip By flipping into Paper mode, walking into a tight space between two solid objects and then unflipping in that area that's supposed to keep him flipped, Mario will sometimes clip into both objects. This can be used to enter buildings without having to unlock or open the door. This doesn't have any use in a speedrun yet.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

Link to video This cool little trick saves 5 minutes because Mario only has to go down to Rank 11 to retrigger the chapter successfully.

Don't tell natt. Poor natt, I wanna hug him. Oh well, find more ways to destroy the game.

Sorry I took so long to reply. By using a glitch in Chapter 2, we skip a sequence cutscene. We complete most of Chapter 3 (this is when we get Yoshi) and then go back to Chapter 2. We trigger Chapter 2 and then re-enter Chapter 3. There's no goombella buffer lol...

What events does this trick skip and how much time in total saved?

This way we don't actually need to battle our way to the top. We get to rank 8 to get Super Hammer and then retrigger the chapter and go straight to the boss. It saves... 10 minutes iirc. It might save more in a TAS though.

I just saw almo's stream to see how he applies the glitch, and he uses groundstomp to get up the shelf. How does that work? Any other uses for that?

Basically, the ground pound makes it easier to clip up to the platform. Also, thank you very much to the publisher for getting our run done! But a re-do is definitely required, which is why I already started one. I completed the Prologue 520 frames faster (-8.67 seconds). I've currently gotten up to Hooktail's Castle where I am approximately 6000 frames faster (No, that is not a typo). This is because of the Shwonk Fortress skips. Much more progress will be made in the many months to come!

Are you working on the new TAS with the other guys as well, or is it just you by yourself?

I'm happy to see the revised run is in the works! :) I'm guessing it will save half an hour with all the new tech combined.

Not quite half an hour. I'm estimating 15-20 minutes. And in fact I'm working on this run by myself with help from CoolKirby for the plane panels. My goal is to sub 1 million frames which would only require 15 minutes of time savers.

What kind of major time savers are there that weren't in the published run?

I'm not sure if you're familiar with this, but there's a chapter 2/3 sequence break glitch that Almo uses in his current WR.

Yep, Koops skip is another part of that saved time. The run is being done on Dolphin 4.0-926.
