So you never gave up with that game. Good job.

Getting the mushroom later in level 4-1 and flower in 4-2 should leave it so that no time is wasted later... I think. I'm a bit confused. Happylee, are ideas 1 and 3 are equally as fast, both saving 63 frames? Also, I feel like combining ideas 1 and 2 could result in the fastest method.
The idea 3 could save more than 63 frames, we just need 2 frames in 1-1, and I wish my other idea could save time.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/371032180/smb2j-glitching.fcm ^ fast-forward to 4-4. I was trying to make it so that 5 sprites were on screen when bowser spawned so that Bowser would NOT spawn at all. If this could be done quick, there could be a possibility to "kill" Bowser without getting fire-power at all. Instead, my attempt ended with me accidentally killing a podoboo with a shell haha.

That's clever. But I don't think it can save time even it could work.

Yea, even if it was faster than collecting power-ups, it would slow down level 8-4 quite some time. :/ I wish there were some way to do this. I think I might do a TAS of SMB2J Warpless.

SMB2J Warpless, I like that. But, what about World 9-D?

World 9 would be done. Unfortuntately, Worlds A-D probably would not be seen. I'm still not sure if I want to do this project, but if I do, I would like the SMB2J Warpless run to replace this movie: http://tasvideos.org/1134M.html I'd want to do the run on FDS.

Play from a predefined save with at least 8 stars or with a patch that gives you 24 stars. Hold A and press Start to start from World A.

yes, that could work I guess. Sitting through the ending after beating it once takes a little while though. I guess it wouldn't be much of an issue, though maybe a reset after beating it would save time (if it could be counted like that). If I do this, I'm not sure whether worlds A-D would be played or not, they probably would with a reset after beating world 9.

Oh my God, you cannot be serious xD I am just starting on an SMB2j warpless run (only worlds 1-8, though) and was gonna announce it today. Bah. D Not much effort is going to be put into this, though. I'm currently done with World 3. Statistics so far Time) 753.29 Frames) 28412 Rerecords) 897 None of this information is completely accurate, however. My emulator crashes a lot and I'm not sure how to connect 2 parts of a run together. (I use FCEUX 2.1.3). If you want to see World 1, it is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ7IKQXnnkI

As for strategies, you didn't go into the ground in 1-1 as this video shows. I'm not sure why your emulator keeps crashing, but you don't put several movies into one. You play through the game using only one fm2.

How do I continue recording one FM2 file after saving it? Also, I am not the best TASer out there xP You will also notice there are no flagpole glitches. So yes, about a minute can be shaved off this run once I finish it already...

Open it in Read+Edit mode, save a state on where you want to continue and load that state. Also, a valuable lesson to learn: Make backups, erasing a movie file because you accidentally loaded a wrong state is not nice.
Terrible annotations, and the run has many areas for serious improvement.
I know. While it doesn't beat the All-Stars run, I checked how much time could be improved on this run, and it's around 45-60 seconds worth (including if I did A-D and someone were to optimize that). And the annotations they were just to explain anything that the viewer might not have known. PikachuMan- yes, but would it come up as a new post from "so-and-so"? Lx

This is actually my first post on the forums here, and I hope this is the right place to say this. I've been playing this game recently, and I haven't seen a warpless run of this game on the site yet. I'm thinking of making it, and I know on a lot of the pages on the site it says that when you want to start making a movie you should get feedback on the forums. So what do you think about me making a warpless run of this game? (This would be my first TAS I've ever made, but I do know the game very well.)

Lo and welcome sudgy to tasvideos, enjoy your stay. Anyway, this is a published warpless run on the SNES version, because it allows you to access worlds 9 - D from the very beginning, as opposed to the FDS version, which doesn't. An FDS run had been submitted, but rejected, I think. Anyway, good luck with your endeavours, here are some nice tricks to try out

Was it rejected because it wasn't the snes version or because it wasn't that good?
