Super Mario Bros. 2 (U)

Super Mario Bros. 2 is the American-released sequel to the famous Super Mario Bros.
Contrary to popular belief, it was developed from the ground up as a new Mario title with vertical scrolling, which the original game lacked. In the middle of its development, it was split off into Doki Doki Panic before being finished as Super Mario USA, a.k.a. Super Mario Bros. 2.
The game features warps and several unintended tricks and glitches which can add up to make a TAS even speedier.

Super Mario Bros 2 is one of our most competed games. This movie is Aglar and Andrewg's improvement of 00:10.73 seconds over adelikat and Cardboard's attempt to perfect this route.
This time, the authors found new glitches to get to the end faster.
If you are wondering how some of the tricks in this video work, see the Super Mario Bros. 2 tricks page.
You can also see this movie played back on an actual NES.
Runs for the GBA version and SNES version are available, as well.

WARNING: There are flashing lights during Rocket explosions (at 2:12 and 5:47 in the encodes) which may cause epileptic seizures to those affected.
Super Mario Bros. 2 is the 2nd game in the Super Mario Bros. franchise, except it's technically not. Instead, it's a reskin of a different game called Doki Doki Panic, and was released in North America as the sequel to the original Super Mario Bros., as Nintendo of America thought the actual sequel (which is known as The Lost Levels today) was too similar to its predecessor and too difficult for the American audience.
This is a 00:07.39 second improvement over the previous submission thanks to a new strategy that involves killing the mouser boss with an invincibility star.
For more information about some of the tricks used in this movie, check the Super Mario Bros. 2 tricks page.
This run has been console verified, which you can watch here.

WARNING: This run includes flashing lights that may trigger epilepsy.
The concept for this run originated long ago because Princess was the only character not used in the normal run aiming for fastest overall time. (In fact, Princess is the only character not used in the fastest warpless run either.)
This movie improves the previous publication by 00:02.95 seconds, manly due to heavier optimization.

WARNING: This run includes flashing lights that may trigger epilepsy.
You can watch the complete run being played back on a console.
