• Uses FCEUX 2.1.0a
  • Aims for damn fast time
  • Does not color a dinosaur
  • Flies on them instead
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Does not use the warp glitch
I'm gonna let adelikat describe the first expression this game gives.
<adelikat> seriously, in that room there is an egg, a bird, japanese text, and him humping the floor
<adelikat> I don't even want to know what is going on there

The major difference between this run and the old one is the use of damage boost.
The most important feature of this run is to keep damage boost-speed. By pressing Down, the speed is kept, but to avoid crouching, one must jump as soon as the player hits the ground. This does not to the skateboard or snowboard. Yeah. He has a skateboard. He rocks. This reminds me of my Skate 2-reel.

<LagDotCom> "Hej Kartong"
<LagDotCom> "drifblim" <LagDotCom> "- Lag"

I start the run by picking up the egg in the room with the old dinosaur. The egg is later used as a teleport device. I decided not to take damage in the first room since it would have been less effective than later. After getting out of the cave, I stumble on a rock for the purpose of manipulating luck. The aftermath of this is that I get a star from the spider-thing. The Star is used to kill the miniboss faster (The Star does 16 damage per hit, the bone only 2, and the boss has 30 HP). After getting the Hammer, I proceed to the right. Now, it's time for the first damage boost in this game! As you might notice, the game keeps the speed when entering a new room. Thank you, game designers!
The first "dungeon" is a joke. See how short it is! I manage to hit the boss twice per attack, making the Hammer as efficient as the Bone, but I won't have to change weapon, which saves time. The boss goes down with relative ease, and I am awarded with a torch and a Dino! Woho! Running through the room leads you to the cabin again. Time for new adventures!
As you progress down the ladder, you see that the cookie has crumbled! Cookie, in this case, being another word for rock. Early in the next room, I take damage for another damage boost. It is relatively short, but I gain time from it due to getting the dinosaur in the next room. The Dino moves slightly faster than Higgins and does 4 damage per attack. It can also walk through lava. Using the Dino's lethal powers, I get the Water Gun...thing which must be used to resurrect plants and put out fires. I take a long damage boost when there's Volcanoes in the background and progress to the boss. Here, Dino makes the best of the situation, and in the end, I sacrifice him as a lethal weapon to kill the last flame. On a related note, the dinosaurs are returned to the the den after each boss so booo.

For new tricks for the run, zggzdydp and klmz,
the users who have made me a better TASer, mainly adelikat, JXQ and moozooh. Others also. But not mainly.
Special thanks to this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSbT1RycDY4

mmbossman: It started off kinda slow, but turns into a pretty versatile and entertaining movie. And he seems to leave the ladies wanting more of what's under his green loincloth. Accepting away.

Walrus dies
A game that endorses walrus clubbing? I'm in.

The movie had some nice bits, like starring the first boss fight, and the boomerang boss fight, and looks generally well done. Yes vote.

This game breaks a record, the most gain from a damage boost in history. That is so lol that you can keep damage boost speed for multiple screens. Also, what a goofy game. Entertaining, nice tricky, yes vote and all that.

It's funny how the Monster World series uses all the same locations: islands, desert, pyramid, ice world, underwater area, volcano... Many of the enemies are the same too. Boooooring, not!

You only manipulated one super star in the whole run? You lost lots of time on bosses. I'm sure my test wip is faster than you in stage 1. I'm kind of disappointed, no vote, sorry.

Probably because the Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima series is a branch that resulted from the first Wonder Boy game... :p

I don't know the details of how this could be best TASed, but I do know that it's entertaining enough for me. Yes vote.

Oh, it would be nice if someone added in the info about this game being the fourth title of Adventure Island series, unreleased in USA and the last game released in Japan for Nes (according to Wikipedia)

Uh-oh, why did you only use the super star once? Because using it too much would be slower? Holding my vote for now.
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

I just love the Adventure Island series, and you did a great job, I can only say YES to you.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
