As always, a bug on level 11 prevents player 2 from moving, so he gets a game over for that level. Player 1 plays level 11 alone and player 2 comes back for level 12. This is a bug in Battletoads itself.

Here you can see a revision of this game by nitsuja, 04:35.32 minutes faster than the previous run by mazzeneko. The strategy used was changed radically, using Raphael instead of Donatello and using dash moves more often.
The damage for every move was mapped out carefully by monitoring the internal values of the RAM, to be able to choose the best attack for every situation. Luck was manipulated to make some enemies appear in more convenient positions.

Ecco is a very original and hellishly hard game. You control Ecco the dolphin, navigating the waters, saving other trapped dolphins (which of course were left on their own here), finding key diamonds, schools of fish and pockets of air deep down in submarine caves.

This run of Donkey Kong Country aims for 101% completion.
The author of this run discovered several new time-saving techniques. Some of them are small enough to go unnoticed, and others are jawdroppingly huge. The total improvement over the previous run is 54 seconds.

Knuckles' Chaotix is a Sonic game that doesn't feature Sonic. The story follows Knuckles the Echidna as he tries to save his friends from Dr. Robotnik, one at a time, by tying an elastic band of "ring energy" between himself and each of them.
The gameplay is similar to that of earlier Sonic games, and after each stage, the next level is selected via roulette. These roulettes and the game's cutscenes comprise about 66% of the total movie length, so we recommend skipping through them.
In the site's first 32X publication, Upthorn uses a number of glitches (of which the most prominent is zipping through walls) to complete most of the levels tens of seconds faster than intended.

This game is considered to be extremely hard, especially for a speedrun. One hit equals death, and your character moves very slowly. Some quotes about this game:
Spacecow: Knowing how easy it is to die in this game, you certainly do cheat death an awful lot.
Frenom: I got the original of this game and I cant even make it to the next level without dying on Easiest.
daniayaw: This game is _impossible_ to beat without savestates..
The only things keeping Toki alive during this movie are the buggy hit detection and about two metric tonnes of luck.

TMNT2 is a classic beat-em-up game with 4 classic main characters: Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello. The latter is the only turtle used in this movie.
This movie is Baxter's new and improved version, which is an astounding 4 minutes faster than his previous version. Donatello has learned the secret ninja art of teleportation and... no, actually, a glitch that enables the player to move around extremely fast is used to hit all the enemies as soon as they come on screen. But most of the improvement comes from outstanding luck manipulation.

A game based on the show Samurai Pizza Cats. Five characters are available, but one (Batcat) is used extensively because his ability of flight leads to many shortcuts.
This game has a glitch enabling one-frame boss fights. To quote the author: If the team leader executes a level three ninpo attack on the first frame of combat, the boss is dead. Right there, dead, even the ones that don't show up immediately. As pulling this off requires your weapon to be maxed out, this saves anywhere from a great deal of time (first level) to a little bit (last level).

This little movie represents the hardest part of the game - Channel X, which normally appears as a secret bonus stage after the normal ending. This TAS however does not play through the entire game, but inputs a password in the beginning to access Channel X right away.

One of those hard-to-emulate games because of the hardware assistance provided on the actual cartridge, Star Fox is a well-known 3D shooter. Avoiding obstacles can be tricky on the digital directional pad, so some of the stunts seen are impressive to anyone who knows how hard this game can be.
Emulation of this game is not correct. Lag present on the SNES is not represented in this run. Expect the speed to be higher than actually seen on a real console. For this reason, the audio track lags severely behind the rest of the run. As a result, some of the bosses can be defeated before the boss music begins.

TMNT3 is the last installment of the TMNT series on the NES. Unlike in the second game, the turtles have different special attacks with different power and speed. The special attack also consumes one life point, unless there is only one life point remaining.
Raphael is by far the fastest turtle, but he also has the weakest special attack. Michaelangelo has the strongest special attack, though he is slow. Leonardo is also used occasionally in this run, since his special attack can hit some bosses twice. Unfortunately for Donatello fans, Don is not used in the run.

A rare instance of a Japanese-made NES game based on a U.S.-originated comic book, Bucky O'Hare (1992) provides a player with a good combination of platforming action similar to Mega Man, an interesting plot, and convincing production values. You can play as one of the five unique characters, which you are free to select at any time, after saving them from the clutches of the Toad Empire. Each character has special abilities required to take advantage of in order to pass through the game's numerous variably designed stages, ranging from single-screen puzzle rooms to autoscrolling shoot-'em-ups.
Interesting fact about this game is that Konami used to implement unconventional ways of piracy protection, in this particular case by making each hit or an otherwise harmful collision in the game result in an instant death if you play it illegitimately. Apparently, this was how a large amount of people were used to playing it in pre-emulation era, without ever finding out Konami's little sabotage.
This movie by AnS is set up in a fashion that imitates this handicap by playing the game in hard mode (accessing it through a password), where every hit results in death. Other than that, it also improves the previous movie by 2 minutes 48.7 seconds, using several major glitches and a lot of small tricks explained in great detail in the author's comments.

James Pond 3: Operation Starfish (1993) is a platform game starring a super agile fish named James Pond, which has been Amiga's somewhat preemptive answer to Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World games. The physics of this game allow for many interesting acrobatics, like running up the walls and ceilings at breakneck speed. As such, these abilities are abused to the point where, in some parts, Pond bounces around as fast as Sonic does.
Following the game's plot, the evil Dr. Maybe attempts to take over the dairy industry, for which he constructs a giant stronghold on the Moon. Because, as you probably know, its surface is made of cheese. The overworld map spans over 100 levels, but most of them are optional.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 is quite an improvement over the original Chip 'n Dale in terms of graphics and a whole lot of other things. Thankfully, the original game's solid controls haven't been changed. The plot of this game is that Fat Cat has stolen the Pharaoh's Urn and wants to use its power (for evil purposes, of course).
Like the first movie, a two-player run makes for some interesting things, like Chip and Dale carrying each other around, and heavy abuse of death to take advantage of balloons. By killing off one character, he respawns on a floating balloon, thus going ahead of the other character. Unlike the first, however, this run frequently destroys bosses by using one of the characters as a weapon. Only in the Chip 'n Dale series can such apparently irrational action be justified.

In this movie the authors control two characters (Goofy and Max) simultaneously. This allows for a good deal of team work as one character can go get an item while the other heads for the exit. When there is no multi-tasking to do, the authors do a good job performing antics with one or both of the characters.

The ceiling and wall physics are very similar to Bubble Bobble, which means some of them can be passed through when you wouldn't expect it. In addition to this there is a glitch that sends you through the floor, saving a lot of time in the final stages.
The first submission was almost 14 minutes long and thought to be optimal, and now we are below 3 minutes.

Wendy Witchcart is an old human witch who rides around in a specialized rail cart on an island that she claims as her own, and is the main villain who turns the islanders into crystals. Miles "Tails" Prower, better known as Sonic the Hedgehog's sidekick, is afraid of seeing a world filled with the witch's rails and decides to stop her on his own.
While Sonic collects rings to protect himself, Tails carries a special ring that he can throw like a boomerang or grab things with. Since collected crystals cost time on the score tally screen, the author simply ignores them all.

The downloadable encodes in the second set use a camhack, which attempts to always keep Sonic onscreen and puts HD sprites on top of the background to make the TAS look even better.

A very important part of Nintendo's history is being presented here on our website — as a tool-assisted speedrun.
Donkey Kong Jr., along with Donkey Kong, were classic games that were played by millions of players on various consoles, including the NES, Atari 2600 and Game and Watch. The story is that Jumpman, now known as Mario, has captured his rival Donkey Kong and it's up to Junior to save his dad.
Although one would not expect a movie of Donkey Kong Jr. to be interesting to watch, except in the retro sense, this movie is actually quite surprising. The vines are cleverly utilized to move the hero forward faster than any member of the Kong family before or after this game.
This is a 1 frame optimization of Level 4 compared to the previous movie.

This is a raptor movie of the Genesis version of Jurassic Park, which is completely different from the SNES version. In this game, you can choose between Grant and the raptor, each with his own set of levels. Grant's levels are like Prince of Persia except with dinosaurs and better weapons. The raptor's levels go by much faster.
The collision detection is quite buggy, and the author takes advantage of this.
This is a 12.34 second improvement on the previous movie, almost all of the improvement coming from better optimization.

In this special episode of Looney Tunes, Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Porky, Taz, Speedy Gonzales, and the Road Runner decide to rip off popular games such as Atomic Runner, Sonic the Hedgehog & Gradius. They do this by going through this Sunsoft classic as fast as possible so that they don't die from all of the ripoffs.
This has led to even stranger results than the other run, clearing five and a half minutes thanks to a glitch that allows for skipping several levels.

Bubsy can run very fast, but unfortunately he almost never gets a chance to, because there are obstacles everywhere. Unlike most bobcats, Bubsy can die by touching anything remotely dangerous, like eggs or water. Also unlike regular bobcats, he can glide through the air, has a t-shirt with an exclamation mark, and a smile you'll just be dying to wipe off his face.

In this game you get to control all four turtles and draw use of their different abilities ― or, at least that was the intent, but Donatello has both better reach and damage than the others, so he is used more or less constantly. The rescuing hero, Sparkster, thinks that espionage is boring. So instead of infiltrating the Gedol empire by stealth, he goes in sword swinging and jetpack blazing, cutting down swaths of whatever poor lizardmen decide to get in his way.
This game is the official sequel to Rocket Knight Adventures, whereas the SNES version with the same title is some sort of spinoff. There is more than just an appearance change to this game. Tails' abilities remain intact. If you haven't seen Sonic the Hedgehog completed before, you may wish to do so before seeing what a character with flight and a spindash can accomplish.
There is also a run for a Knuckles hack of Sonic the Hedgehog, done by JXQ. It replaces Tails with Knuckles and flying with climbing and gliding.

Ludicrous-speed bouncing around. Completed without collecting any emeralds, with both Sonic and Tails controlled by the player.
This run takes everything you know about Sonic 3 & Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to zip and warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and effectively skip entire stages.
It is worth noting that nitsuja and Upthorn did not directly participate in the creation of this movie; instead, marzojr incorporated several additional tricks in multiple stages and spliced them in for a total improvement of 02:14.32 seconds over his last effort at doing the same.

This movie of Sonic Advance is unique as a speedrun in one aspect: Sonic moves so fast that the "camera" of the game cannot even follow him. Therefore, he is rarely seen in the movie.
On the rare occasions we get to watch Sonic, we get to enjoy seeing him moving through walls, charging up for another dash, or making short work of bosses.
Besides the super fast speed itself, the speed also provides Sonic an ability (glitch) to pass through platforms and walls under certain conditions.
