suggesting [3497] PSX Crash Bandicoot: Warped "item glitch, gate clip" by pirohiko in 05:40.77 even though it's short, the amount of speed and crazy movements makes everything super fun to watch.

Crash was considered a few months ago, but discussion somewhat died.

I feel that the gate clip TAS is more suitable for stars because it shows off just how broken the game is. while the branchless TAS of Warped is pretty fast, I feel that the other levels that dont abuse that trick cause the rest of the run to seem slow. with the gate clip it's alot shorter, and shows off more than just spinning around super fast. especially how the final boss battle is done, moving so far off the screen is just funny to watch. With it also being the more rated Crash TAS on that list, I think it deserved the Star just for how insane the movement is.

I agree with EZGames69.

Suggesting [3827] Linux SteamWorld Dig 2 by keylie in 18:11.87 for stars. The movie starts off a bit slow, but as the character gets new upgrades, the run picks up a ton of momentum, especially once the hookshot is obtained.

May be better to give the first Lunix star for one of Shovel Knight? All three of them are great, but personally i enjoy the slowest one the most: [3800] Linux Shovel Knight "Shovel of Hope" by keylie in 39:37.68 Also this is the first ever publication using libTAS. So it has the same historical significance for TASVideos as Cave Story.
I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Current projects: NES: Tetris "fastest 999999" (improvement, with r57shell) Genesis: Adventures of Batman & Robin (with Truncated); Pocahontas; Comix Zone (improvement); Mickey Mania (improvement); RoboCop versus The Terminator (improvement); Gargoyles (with feos)

Personally, I'd be more in favor for [3805] Linux Shovel Knight "Specter of Torment" by keylie in 35:04.23 if we're going to star a shovel knight tas. Shovel of Hope is still a good movie, but I think Specter of Torment is a lot faster in pace and more fun to watch.

I would like to suggest this for stars [3292] SMS Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse by Tee-N-Tee in 11:46.53 The reason is because the movement that goes into this tries very hard to preserve as much speed as possible, from sliding down slopes, making it fun to watch. There’s also that one section in stage 2 where mickey picks up an entire door which was completely unexpected to see, and actually made me laugh. Not to mention the random times where Mickey will just start clipping into walls. I feel like this could be a good pick.

Specter of Torment getting the star certainly makes sense to me, since it's the most 'refined' and recent iteration on the formula.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of starring Twilight Princess, there's a ton of Gamecube stars at it is and this one can be fairly repetitive and dull at points.
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours

Being somewhat unfamiliar with the game I need the commented encode to fully enjoy this TAS, because otherwise I cannot appreciate all the tricks.

Twilight Princess is my favourite Zelda game but my points would echo to what Memory and Warepire wrote about why not.

Such a weak reasoning. For the 500th time, if a run deserves a star, let it have it, regardless of name of the game, category or platform.

It's almost like I included other reasons why this movie did not deserve a star.

That “weak reasoning” is actually one of the starman requirements. http://tasvideos.org/StarmanGuidelines.html#AmountOfStarredMovies The only reason I suggested TP was to see what the community thought, if people thought that it was good enough to be starred then we would figure out a way to star it by seeing what could lose a star or the like.

I'm going to say I really like it, but if you look at TP as a run without any knowledge going in, you sure as hell ain't going to be able to follow the whole thing, and there *are* parts that are boring about it. Much I love it, I don't exactly feel it's a likely star.

The original purpose of the stars was to form a representative sample of TASes that illustrate what's so cool about TASes, not really just a list of best-regarded TASes. Such a representative list should be varied, and I think a variety of platforms should be one of the aspects to consider in that. I would be honestly interested in knowing what you think makes a TAS "deserve" a star. A star isn't (IMO) really any sort of award granted to notorious TASes, and thus no TAS "deserves" it.

This is a very good post, I feel we may have collectively forgotten this and started to treat the Stars as something that they were never intended to be.

[3878] GBA Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure by WarHippy in 33:31.87 Got GBA TAS of 2018. Extremely entertaining, fast pace yet enough easy to follow, lots of quick and optmized movements, very satifying to watch. I don't know what else to say.
