Sorry for the doublepost, but I was wondering if you made any progress?

I see, but I was actually wondering about the normal TAS

I haven't really been working on it lately. I did make it to the engine room door during my last activity, but then kinda lost my motivation again. It's likely gonna be a tough section due to multiple RNG manipulations within a short timespan, as well as some strange lag going on. I might give it another try soon though. If i can make it past the engine room, the rest of the level/game(?) will be alot easier.

After 16 years, Goldeneye's first Out of Bounds glitch was found today by a player named Swiss: http://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=19969.0 Initial attempts to recreate it seems to point towards this being a very rare, maybe even pixel perfect glitch. However, it's only been a few hours and we don't really have any idea how it works. Any help in understanding/recreating this would of course be greatly appreciated (i wouldn't be surprised if a bounty is put up for it as well).

Link to video Obviously a huge help for any future TASes of this game. It was suggested to me that other games might benefit from this kind of map as well, and alot of code could certainly be reused. The main issue in porting is finding the relevant memory addresses and gaining access to clipping data. http://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=21141.0

Wow, fantastic work! This is probably the most visual lua script I've ever seen. In terms of porting this over, doesn't 007: The World is Not Enough run on the same engine as Goldeneye?
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Thanks! And no, those games are completely separate. Perfect Dark however, is based on the Goldeneye engine (though it's been modified quite a bit).

Is anybody actively working on a new goldeneye TAS?

A small improvement could probably be made on Train by using the RCP + hand laser combination at the end. I used ZMG + hand laser, but RCP is faster and more powerful, so it would probably save some time, even though it may take a few frames to pick up. Got this idea from watching this old WR video from 1998: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbRi6_7HkUU

Not just train, the RTA on runway is 1 second faster than the TAS as well. Also Bosshart said he'd used a new 2 nade tactic on Surface 2 on his last record but I'm not sure it'd be faster in the TAS

Link to video Haven't worked on this since 2014 but I always wanted to upload this since I worked so hard on it (117k rerecords, total for whole run around 330k). On this section alone I saved around 2.55 seconds over my old 56 run.

Wow, that looks insane! I'd love to see it in a finished run, though...

That's amazing. I've watched the other levels and I can't believe you can get those kinds of times with cinema and no lookdown. Crazy stuff. Do you have any plans to continue the TAS?

How about a run of the Goldfinger 64 romhack? It's pretty complete and definitely distinct from the original, plus it will run on original hardware. Nothing to really work on speedrun wise though as nobody has run it yet.

What about a NG+ category? Select 007, set everything to max.

Presumably 007 difficulty with everything maxed out would be "dodge all the things and take three hours fighting anything you 100% need to kill"

The mode you're talking about is known in the GoldenEye community as "Dark License to Kill." There are some really cool speedruns of this mode on the-elite. The total time for every level on 007 Max Stats is 1:37:41. There are also some TASes of this mode on YouTube.

So yesterday was the reveal of Whiteted's highly anticipated "M-Strat", and as part of this he asked me to make a TAS demonstration run: Link to video Final time is 1:35.70 which beats the previous record by 8 seconds.

That's fantastic! How much more do you think you can squeeze out after optimizing? I think Whiteted mentioned that 1:30:xx is possible with some other strats (which I'm not familiar with). I haven't played Goldeneye since my childhood. Does the "large/hut key" unlock (i) the fenced hut where the safe with the bunker plans is located or (ii) the hut where the safe key is located?

It unlocks both. I think 1-2 seconds lower would be maxed with this strat.

Link to video This world record has stood for 14 1/2 years. Can it be beaten?

I doubt 21 is possible.
