Super Mario Bros. 3 Ridley X Hack 6 is a ROM Hack of Super Mario Bros. 3 with a new item slot feature.
In the speedrun, I press the select button to use the item slot while running so the p-meter increases. I won't have to use the slow and steady technique now that the item slot feature is there. You're usually supposed to find the bomb somewhere so you can enter the pipe before the final castle and then defeat Roy in the small castle but instead I managed to beat it in the fastest way possible. Also, 1-5 was tough for me to speedrun because in the original TAS by Mizumaririn, they just clip through the pipe and I tried to do that too but it didn't work so yeah.

In verifying sync on this run, I noted that there are some places where Mario swims while there's still air above him (for example, in the second portion of 1-4). Since obtaining and maintaining P-Speed is done through much of the run anyway, I'm curious if it would be faster to do these sections with a flying suit (i.e. racoon) and fly past the water instead of swimming? While I can see how they are used watching the run, I don't know how critical it is to have both the fire flower and hammer bros. suits throughout the run instead of swapping one of those for a flying suit at times. Just an observation of something that at a glance made me curious if there was a potential way to get through some areas faster. Though without doing any in-depth testing on my own, I can't be sure that it would save time over the course of the entire run.
