short tatsu is bugged for big damage in this version, i use the hop kick as well to keep enemy close for more tatsu, other moves put you further away, i tried really hard to keep apocalypse stuck so i could combo and tatsu him as much as i could
ryu was chosen to die in 3 hits against tatsu, him and chun have low health

Interesting run.
Is it possible to manipulate what opponents/stage you get? Wondering if it might be theoretically possible to avoid the Raging Inferno stage with its time-slowing stage transition, or avoiding the Juggernaut/Zangief team.
Is Ryu really one of the lowest health characters in the game? I'd have expected it to be someone like Cammy or Magneto (shame you can't pick another Akuma). Is there a character health chart anywhere for this game?

partly answered on discord:
@Noxxa
I was too lazy to login on tasvideos but answering your question
Better stages and enemies would make it faster
I gave up on further attempts because that emulator crashes very frequently
And it doesn’t save the movie modifications when it does so
Most importantly:
Magneto Ryu chunli all die in 3 hits if 3 tatsu full hits
you just need to see which characters i use a hopkick before
Ken takes an extra hit for example
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
I love this game and it's awesome to see a TAS for a fighting game that aims for shortest movie (and not just playaround, which are great in their own right). However, these questions remain:
In particular, the possibility of manipulating opponents -- is this deterministic based on your own choice or RNG-based that could be manipulated by delaying button presses? If opponent health determines the number of tatsu cycles requires to defeat them, then this is a crucial issue. This movie might be already be optimal, but we won't know until these questions are answered.
yes, it is possible to manipulate at the start but i have no idea how to find all combinations without playing the full arcade run a billion times, it's set after taht so it will have no change after the first 2 characters

Since BizHawk 2.9 came out with MAME support, I decided to investigate the character health situation. The results are posted in the game's thread.
Tl;dr: Akuma is the lowest health character, after that it's a tie between Cammy/Chun-Li/Dhalsim/Storm/Magneto. It might be possible to optimize combo routes a bit further with this information.

there's a double akuma glitch i posted in the thread, this could be the best possible combination if there's no problem with the final fights

I tried this out earlier today - it works fine, and it definitely saves time on the final fight (around a second). Definitely worth doing in a new run.
