Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced is similar to Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped for the PlayStation. In this game, Crash is trying to rescue his friends from the hypnosis of Doctor Nefarious Tropy and his ally N. Trance. To do this, he must collect Power Crystals to open portals to new areas and move closer to the captured Bandicoots and N. Tropy's hideout.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: 2.6.1 originally, moved to 2.6.2
  • 100% completion
  • Take damage to save time
  • Genre: Platform

feos: This run mostly follows the RTA record route, but it's faster in every level and looks obviously more precise. Accepting as a full completion branch.
This thread is probably a precedent for not skipping the credits roll, so I'm replacing this submission with such a movie.
For encoding, I made a file that makes the credits roll play fully, and then I show the final stats (they have their own music loop that needs to be played of course).
feos: Handling the improvement...
feos: Verified, replacing, accepting, and here's the one for encoding.
Spikestuff: Publishing.

I was afraid that this was going to be very slow due to the fact that you have to replay each level again for the time trials, however I was happy to see that the fast dash makes them go by extremely quickly. This was a blast to watch and even more entertaining than the any% movie which I also was a big fan of. Yes vote. Btw in the 2nd shark stage in the time trials you did 2 jumps which seemed to slow you down, was there a reason for this?

This is a very interesting run, way more fast-paced than I expected, and the tricks/glitches used are really clever.
Games are basically math with a visual representation of this math, that's why I make the scripts, to re-see games as math. My things: YouTube, GitHub, Pastebin, Twitter

This is because there is no way to avoid it other than jumping in those parts or with a ramp, but the latter is much slower; Although before the time trial, aku aku allowed me to receive damage to collide with the buoy and pass that part without jumping, it would not matter, since to obtain aku aku it is necessary to jump, both in normal mode and in time trial

Ah I see, after looking a 2nd time I didn’t catch the fact that there’s grass to avoid. That makes sense now.

I think this movie should end on showing either credits or stats. The way any% runs end feels abrupt.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The way it ends is fine imho, and is a better for an Encoder/Publisher since it doesn't need to show the credits, since the credits are an endless loop. And if anyone wants to verify the 101% claim then they can check it themselves, we know at least that it is 101%-- meanwhile the indication on a different Crash 2 is a second cutscene then a game reboot, bye save. The video doesn't need extra run time and the input doesn't need anymore padding.

The movie must be complete wrote:
Where applicable, the movie must reach an ending screen that positively signifies a game is finished successfully. It must be able to reach the credits or end screen without requiring any further interaction; all input must come solely from the input file
It's quite applicable here, so it must reach some kind of a definitive ending screen or credits.

Only that it does show the credits (and final cutscene) for a total of around 3 seconds. The ending is found, so what's the issue?

I can't call this a screen that positively signifies a game is finished successfully: And I don''t see how skipping all of the actual credits is exactly the same as showing them in full.

It seems that I was very late but I made an improvement, I am very sorry for the inconvenience since it is already publication underway.

It's fine don't worry about it. If you find another improvement before publication link it again.
