So, I use Bizhawk and have played around with Tasing a bit of Super Metroid. I looked around a bit here and on youtube for TAS videos of common games. What I was surprised by is that some games seem to have TAS's of mainly glitching but not that many of doing glitchless runs. It made me wonder if this is what is expected from TAS? For instance, looking under NES and Mega Man 1. There are 2 very fast playthroughs. Reading them it is apparent that there are tons of glitches. And that is fine if this is what you like. But then is that was is expected? If someone made a full run without avoiding mandatory fights would that have room on this site or would your run just be considered too slow and be rejected? I get that the rules are mainly Subjective and maybe it's more about being voted as an interesting enough of a run to be accepted. It's just that I would have thought some of these games would have many more videos. Perhaps its just that there are not that many Tasers out there. Any insights would be appreciated. FlyMario

Hi FlyMario, and welcome to TASVideos. To try and answer your question, we for the most part focus on completing games as fast as possible, and that can come from the use of glitches. However, we aren’t against runs that avoid those kinds of techniques, the only requirement for those is if the community here finds the run entertaining and thinks they are different enough to the any% or 100% branches of the game. I would say the reason that you dont see as many as those kinds of runs around here is because they require a bit more approval from the community than an any% or a 100% run would need. If you want to read more about it, our rules talk about the Movie goals and what we expect from them.

Thats fair. The longer the run takes, the longer it has to take to validate the results.
