The main point here is that the game itself isn't trivial overall, so it's acceptable. If some movie may lead to simplistic strategies, it's still not as simple as #5799: Flip & ajfirecracker's Genesis Disney's Aladdin "demo glitch" in 00:02.64. So yeah, worth submitting, for Vault.

OoT MQ was released on GC in the form of a n64 rom, and because of this it can be ran in an n64 emulator. I see that there has been an exception made for MTA's unfinished MQ TAS, so I was wondering if I could also do the same. The alternative is Dolphin, but working with Bizhawk is much easier for me. I have not started on my MQ TAS yet because I am still planning the route for it. Thanks for a response.

It should be fine to run it in hawk: http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#ExtractedGames

I wanted to ask because I was unsure and I didn't want to go ahead and submit it to the submissions page, but I did make a new Top Gear 2 TAS for All Tracks that beats the currently published movie by 3 Minutes & 48 Seconds with a final time of 2:15:59.96 Thanks, Technickle (I was trying to figure out why the message wasn't going through, now I understand ... I believe)

And what's the question?

The question is: Can I submit my new All Tracks TAS to the submission page for an overview since it beats the currently published movie by 3 minutes and 48 seconds, or should I leave it in my User Files?

I believe he is asking this question because he doesn’t want to be rejected and lose his submission privileges.

Hello, glad to see the interest. I'm preparing them for submission right now but there's a couple of questionable moments 1. End of E1M8. This entire movie tetralogy was meant to be a proof of concept, and it ended up proving that it's not possible to finish the game without taking damage. You're obligated to have 20%> health in order to finish E1M8, so the only way to make it fall under the "no damage" category is to use a mod that removes all health pickups and sets player's HP to 1. 2. Getting damage with an invulnerability powerup. Technically it's still damage, but the player doesn't lose health. All damage effects, such as momentum, still affect the player, and i used an enemy attack to increase my speed one time. What do you think about it? 3. Is it worth it after all? It's the first movie in the category, merely a proof of concept.
Ladies and gentlemen, what do you think about those future Ultimate Doom submissions?

1. Don't use a mod. I think it's reasonable to call it "No Damage" if the only damage taken is required at the VERY end of the game. This is similar to the Swordless Zelda 1 challenge where one is required to get the sword towards the end of the game in order to actually defeat the final boss. 2. If an invulnerability powerup is active, you are by definition, not taking damage. If it was "no hits" run, then it might not be acceptable. 3. Can't say for certain whether or not people would find it entertaining. Only way to determine is through submission really.

Would it count for a 100% completion if I were to do a TAS of Mickey's Dangerous Chase that collects all bubbles? each level has 4 bubbles you can collect from question mark blocks. if you get all 4 of them and finish the level, it gives you a congrats screen showing that you collected them all, and rewards you with an extra life. After that, the game continues on. I am not sure if this is enough to consider it a 100% completion, and doing an "all stars" TAS would not work as some stars are impossible to get, as it would require backtracking in a game that locks the screen as you move forward, like in SMB1. I might make a TAS of one anyway since I love this game, but I am worried that submitting it would result in rejection due to not being significant enough for 100%. Do you judges think it would qualify?

In other words, are some stars mutually exclusive?

as far as I can tell, the screen lock would definitly be a major issue if I were to make such a run. I can always do some more investigations if I need to.

Sounds like bubbles are full-completion kinda items, and stars are just for score, like coins in Mario. You can still do "all bubbles, max stars", but that requires Moons feedback.

Yeah, I’m very doubtful max coins would be entertaining enough for the moons category, so I’ll just consider an all bubbles TAS instead.

What are the requirements for a Secret of Evermore 100% run? I'd propose to remove the illegal and redundant rules from RTA:
-Beat the game as fast as possible -Collect all Charms/Trinkets/Market Items (There's a few exceptions, Tinker's turn-in's) -Collect all Weapons/Armor -Collect all Alchemy/Call Bead spells -Pre-existing save on game to skip intro -Must verify that all items were collected (save in Ruffleberg's lab; load after final boss) -Does not include killing all bosses.
Which would lead to the following rules: And excludes:
  • Showing secrets and Easter eggs
  • Getting as many alchemy ingredients, trade items, Bazooka shells, consumables and Tinker turn-in's as possible (In theory you can glitch the turn-in's and end the game without turning them in)
  • Dirty SRAM to skip the intro
  • Redundant save states
  • Killing optional/skippable bosses
  • Using the ACE glitch to stock up on reagents, to make the first bosses easier

I don't know the game at all, but here's what we want for full completion: http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#FullCompletionRules

I personally think that it should also kill all the bosses. I know in RTA they're two different categories but they seem like a pretty natural part of 'fully beating the game' to me, more natural even than filling your inventory with all unique stuff.

The all bosses category seems to have the messiest rules, and they aren't even spelled out on speedrun.com. To my knowledge they are based on whether or not encounters had boss music, fanfares and loot. You'd recommend to beat all these once? Or just actual bosses?
  • Mandatory bosses - They literally block the way to next screen
  • Skippable bosses - Glitches in tricks allow the player to bypass them (includes "Tiny", which is a maze with boss music)
  • Optional bosses - "Face" is not required to beat the game regularly
  • Skippable mini bosses - The "Viper Commander" (second boss of the game) reappears in the volcano, and respawns (not required for all bosses)
  • Skippable monsters with different music, but loot - The raptors at the start
  • Optional monsters without different music, but loot - The raptors in the cave (not required for all bosses)

Maybe use a category like "all items"? or "all equipment"?

Don't confuse speedrun.com rule sets with what we look for here. While there are often similarities, our rule set is independent of what speedrun.com does. Our definition of 100% or full completion may be different than theirs. Theoretically, the respective definitions of any% between the two sites may vary as well for any particular game. feos already linked to our requirements for full completion runs. I'm not familiar with the game in question, but I'd agree with Patashu that all bosses would likely be necessary to fulfill those requirements. The rules on full completion state:
Full completion can only consist of optional one-time, irreversible, or otherwise strictly limited accomplishments that can be objectively measured and maximized.
If the otherwise skippable bosses can only be fought once (or a unique reward is only given for fighting them the first time), they would fall under this sub-point in the rule. This sub-point may also impact what needs to be collected vs what doesn't. It could be argued that only the items which can be collected only once need collecting. For example; if there are multiple places to get a particular piece of armor, and there's no restriction to re-acquiring it once it's already been acquired, it may not need collected to fulfill the requirements for a full completion run. Part of the concept of full completion is to actually do measurable things that could otherwise be skipped, and thus add more content to the viewable result. As far as determining a definition for what our site would require for a 100% run of the game, you might have a better chance of getting a community consensus by asking in the thread for the game. EDIT:

If full completion was deemed to require more than either of these options, the resulting video would have to warrant good enough reception for moon tier publication as the run wouldn't qualify for vault.

Full completion in RPG games should often include clearing all side quests. This doesn't count for games that feature mutually-exclusive quests, or branching subplots.

This was previously discussed in the thread when I was intending to work on the 100% TAS initially. Saturn's definition was that you needed all of everything, which was definitively shot down by several people here. I also brought up the All Bosses categorical definition, which was also decided to not be included in said definition for 100%. What I had started on as my 100% definition for this specific game was as follows: - All Alchemy/Call Bead spells - All Weapons/Armor - All Charms/Trinkets/Market Items* - Beat game as fast as possible * Tinker's turn-in items are not counted because if played naturally they'd all be gone from the player's inventory anyways. There is not a single skippable boss that gives the player anything of note that is not otherwise attainable elsewhere, which is why I chose to specifically exclude all bosses when routing the TAS initially. It's also why 100% RTA doesn't include them, on top of the fact you're adding addition time/frames for literally no reason other than fan favors, at which point you may as well be doing an All Bosses TAS. Just my 2 cents, whatever that's worth.

So for the Shinobi III speedrunners I had started a LOTAD for the No Kunai category of the game. However I started getting into it and am making a good effort at it. I do however notice that many parts are going to be quite similar to the original Any% TAS. Would this No Kunai be a good or a bad candidate for Moons? https://www.speedrun.com/shinobi3/run/zx246wem Edit: The No Kunai would be using the 6 button mode for the game. The route would be a bit different since you cannot use ceiling clips with kunai. Zipping with dive kicks would still be used. There is a pretty restrictive wall clip, but it may or may not save time.
