Hi There I want to edit a Movie file for the PCSX-rr emulator. There are specific frames I would like to change. There has been a new glitch in Abe's Oddysee that allows saving time from the bird portal closure glitch and I all want to do is to create a new movie file, copy and paste the frames from up to that point and then I want to do the bird portal closure glitch and then copy and paste the rest of the frames. How do I set up the emulator so that I can see what input is going into the movie file?

If you're asking how to make the emulator display the input on screen, there should be a setting for that, just as there's a setting for displaying the frame count on screen. Most emulators have that under something like Heads-Up Display>Input Display or Show>Input.

PCSX-rr doesn't actually have a menu option to open up input display, but I'm pretty sure it displays input automatically if Show FPS Display is enabled (press . while the emulator is running). Note that this requires the default graphics plugin (TAS Soft Graphics plugin). If you're using another graphics plugin, input display won't work.

I can get the input and the frames count to show with the recommended plugin for Abe's Oddysee but what I want to do is to jump to a certain frame and change a few frames on the input as it's faster than what is currently in the current movie file. Can I use the TAS editor create a new movie file, create frames up to that point, load the movie file on the emulator, correct the input and add the rest of the inputs from the movie file?

Hi Samlaptop. There is no way to edit PCSX-RR movie files to remove/add frames except by HEX editing.Which might prove to be more difficult than what a movie editor can do. PSXJin however is text based and can be edited with something like notepad ++. All i can say really you can do for your situation is just ask Dooty's assistance via PM to finish the rest, or with your speedrunning knowledge of the game could attempt TASing the rest and credit Dooty in the submission.

This is why we made PSXjin all those years ago. It has text based input, or any other issue brought up here with PCSX-rr. It should be used, unless you have a good reason otherwise.

The PCSX-RR is required for Abe's Oddysee because it is unable to play on PSXJn and I am unable to change the graphics plugin. In PEOP Soft 1.4 driver it has a check called 'Disable sprite transparency (Abe game fix) and it's not included in the intergrated GPU. If there is away around of changing the GPU to the PEOP Soft 1.4 plugin I would be able to use that emulator. The TAS Movie editor allows me to edit the PXM file but I want to be able to see whatis happening in the emulator and it won't let me copy and paste frames to a new movie.

Well, unfortunately, what you want doesn't exist.

Isn't the closest thing to what Samlaptop wants is this?

Yes. I have been playing with it but I think I need to look into how many frames I need to remove before Abe does the chant. Basically you let go of the R1 button for 0.5 seconds I think and then as soon as the Mudokon enters the portal I can run straight through it and then the run is basically the same. I know that the glitch needs to happen at frame 7060 in the any% run.
