About the run

This is an improvement Version of My TAS. 1157frame was updated. This is based on zipping different from last time.

Tricks

Magic seal zipping

It will reappear, if Magic seal of Menu is taken out when it is in Out of Bounds by Axe or Cutall. However, Screen change is required.

Improvement points

  1. It changed to level up zipping and used Magic seal zipping. Thereby, exp acquisition became unnecessary.
  2. Movement of near entrance has been improved using exp acquisition having become unnecessary.
  3. The improvement of other thin paddle movements is several points.

Special thanks

  • McBobX: TAS which took in new movement was created first.
  • gocha: Most technology currently used by this TAS is built by him. Moreover,it was exerted for the improvement of DeSmuME.You could not make this TAS without him.
  • Kriole: Technology shown by 100% soul TAS , such as a random number method of preparation and motion cancellation, was greatly consulted.
  • KAZU:levelup zipping was found.

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Accepting as an improvement to the published movie.

It would be difficult to destroy the semblance of gameplay left any further at this point. Who knew that practice really does make perfect? (Yes vote)

This was something new. Who knew that zipping like this was possible?

The fun part about this is that it is easily doable in realtime. Not as fast, of course, and hitting the flags will take a lot of practice, but getting to that point is incredibly easy.

Getting to that glitch spot, or getting near this time? Anyways, yes vote because the boss gave up.

Remembering where the appropriate flags are, and getting near the time. Doing the OOB glitch is trivial; the window to pause while off-screen is enormous. With knowledge of where the appropriate flags are, I can zip through them. The right side of the screen is a bit of a minefield, from experience -- I triggered the Julius Mode flag early this morning while I was trying to replicate mtbRc's work on my handheld. I did, however, find two strange items that aren't on my save anymore because shortly after, the game hung completely: https://plus.google.com/109057714508885066316/posts/ZC9P3K3deGZ Edited to add: I am not implying /at all/ that the run is trivial, it's beautiful. My statement is simply that the OOB zip is easy to trigger in realtime thanks to the recent discovery.

There has to be a way to bring this thing under 3:30 Not that there's much of the game left anyway...
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

If a room can be found along the path to Flying Armor that allows the glitch to be triggered, and it is possible to set the "Flying Armor dead" flag along the path to acquiring the relevant souls and abilities for travel, along with the Abyss warp room and Menace dead, then traveling through the remaining rooms using Black Panther would likely be faster, and sub-3:30 could be achieved. I am not a TASer, I don't have the time, knowledge, etc., I just have a very high interest in this game. In my attempts to replicate the glitch in the rooms to the boss during my ride to work this morning, I was unable to get it to trigger.

Humm... excuse me, but isn't this movie corrupts the memory? The category is not present in the publication, or am I wrong..?

It's covered by heavy glitch abuse. Memory corruption is a much different matter, as all this run does is trigger flags.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

It triggers those flags by doing out-of-bounds memory writes on room visit data though. I'd count it as memory corruption.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
