All new useful tricks/glitches were added during the making. Though there are some minor known timesavers that were found later on. One being better whirlwind movement in the second dungeon just before the Angle Retention glitch. It's only a minor timesave of a couple of frames, though redoing that would change the RNG and the hassle for it was not worth it.

Many attempts at TASing this game has come and went... I'm giving a shot myself at it, because it seems like a fun game =).
The current discussion is mainly going on in the speedrun Discord server, where I'll also be posting progress. You can find a link here for those curious: https://discord.gg/kz3nZE6

I think the most clear and logical ruleset you can have for any game is to have the run from a fresh unaltered save file, regardless if this is the fastest category or not. It should never be completely obsolete by a run which take advantage from having a save file.
Not saying that sram runs shouldn't exist.

Wonderful run! I love all the Pegasus Seeds drop, that's one of the things we surely could have improved on in the last TAS, the RNG is such a struggle though...
Obvious yes vote.

A lot from lag reduction, by having speed 0 when landing on chips whenever possible. This was mentioned for the previous submission and a faster first level with this in mind was posted. Some critique that neither the first level was matched in this submission nor was the 0 speed tech used barely ever when possible. Regardless =).

What surprises me is that, despite you redoing the run, the very first level is still 10 frames slower than the version I posted in your old submission. Another general thing I've been improving are the turnaround. It's usually not faster to hold a direction then instantly switch to the other one. Instead, it could be faster to go: right, right, none, left, left etc. or even , right right, left, left, none, left, left etc. or similar. This can be done at multiple places to save more time. It's important to both watch the speed, x-pos and x-sub addresses to make sure which method is faster.
I've started improving this regardless. Will post the run once I'm done.

I'm done finding improvements for it.
Well, if one would be technicaly about co-authorship... While I did already improve this TAS many years back and this submission brought no new info to the table for me, the more logical aspect would be for me to make a new submission with my improvement as a single author.
However: The reason why I put the run as unlisted in the first place was because I think this is a quite silly and pointless TAS in general, so I won't bother with my own submission. Though feel free to replace it with my version and add me as co-author I guess.
Though then the question is if it should be the version that actually syncs on actual hardware or not? And if so, Alyosha should just as well be added as an author.
In any case: I don't care. Do whatever.

A bit late to the party...
At the time when this was a popular RTA run, I too did a TAS of it. I only posted it to some of the runners IIRC, and put the video as uinlisted because I thought it was too silly. I went by RTA timing for it and therefore the video started at that point, with the A press on "First Player", I also had manipulated the luck before this point to give me an optimal result.
I was anyway able to stack my row to the right of the middle. This was faster because the computer always starts from the middle, reducing movement from the hand, as you can drop instantly to the left/right. How much this could potentially save, due to the extra luck manipulation for you, I don't know...
Here's my video of it:

EDIT: Here's also the .bk2 file of it, though I do not know which emulator version it will sync on.. Despoa confirmed that it syncs on 1.11.8.2 : https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638355029862106686

The lantern is required to beat Big Octorok, there is no way around that. It will also be used in Dark Hyrule Castle for one of the small keys, this one can however be substituted for a different key.
Boss Key is needed to open up the big door in a dungeon. Doing that is required to do the glitch I did with the Ocarina in order to bypass large part of the dungeon.
I have made a detailed explanation in the video description about what's going on as well.

An update to the low score!
In 2 player mode, the score from one of the players can be copied to the other while you do the Battle Mode. So if Mario has 100 and Luigi has 0, Luigi's score can be replacing Mario's score. This way it's possible to have a score of 0 when entering Bowser's Castle and thus being able to beat it with a score of 50 minimum.
