I've decided to step down from my judge position. It's been 4 months since my last judgement, I was waiting to see if things would change back for me, but it didn't happen. I'm just not motivated anymore about judging. I'm also not TASing anymore, lately. But I still love this site, and community. I may come back at some point to produce more silly TASes and contribute in other ways. For example, I'm studying html and javascript, so I may contribute on site coding better than I did before. Feel also free to DM me on Discord for anything. You may even ask me for help about anything (TASing, lua, etc) like before, just know that I may happen to not be as much enthusiast as before. See you around. :)

Another solution would me to use as label the name of the biggest glitch used. "X glitch"

https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638431845236301656 here is updated TAS, 14 frames faster than the submitted movie. 12 frames from new bomb order in PR 2 by ktwo. 2 frames from new bomb order in PR 3 by me, inspired by ktwo's PR 2 routing.
Before I replace the movie file, I have to ask: ktwo, do you want to be added as co-author to this submission? Edit: also SpaceColonizer, do you agree?

  • No dipswitches were changed from default since none have any difficulty settings.
Actually, there is difficulty settings. See from the original manual, page 12: (5) One-player game difficulties A (easiest) to E (most difficult) (Factory setting: C) The submitted movie is already acceptable as is, with the standard difficulty. However I wanted to make sure that this reflects your intention. Are you ok with having the current submission accepted, or would you prefer to cancel it?

The movie file uploaded for replacement seems longer than the published movie. What's going on here? Edit: also, I'm having issues with the controller settings. What are all the necessary settings?

fair enough. i guess the Main Game TAS could be put in playground?
Yes, I don't see any problem with that.

even if the inputs were the exact same as the Main Game TAS, the argument could be made that the warpless TAS of Super Mario Bros. uses the exact same inputs on 1-1, 4-1 and all 4 levels in World 8. those two things being said, i would prefer Main Game and Marathon Mode to be separate publications.

What kind of contribution did Lapogne36 make?

This TAS aims to complete all 150 levels the Marathon Mode in record time. The first 15 levels of each 30-level phase are exclusive to this mode. THe other 75 are repeats of the Main Game levels.
Are those 75 levels beaten with the very same inputs as a movie that plays the Main Mode? If that's the case, then the existing publication will be obsoleted by this submission, as explained in its judgement note, due to the superseeding clause (see first precedent here).

Yeah, that's what I was suspecting... Thank you, I'll convert it with that program and I'll see. Edit: note to self: CHDMAN doesn't work, many other utilities don't work; AnyBurn does.

I'm failing to sync this submission, I get stuck to this screen. what am I doing wrong? I'm using a confirmed dump of the game and the exact bios as indicated in submission.

I think the 2.0.2 movie should be used for publication here, since the 2.0.1 version does not save the game properly due to emulation error.
I tried resyncing it to 2.0.2. Loading times got longer in a couple of spots between levels, and I couldn't resync Casino Paradise 1. Have my resync attempt here: User movie #638363403786680201. Desyncs at frame 14296. I don't think that resyincing this movie to the latest emulator version should be a requirement, as it seems to play back just fine to me with 2.0.1, so my judgement stands. Unless anyone wants to attempt to help with the resync. Edit:

It was this one. Thank you so much for going through all possible scenarios! It made the fix quick and easy.

I'm having troubles syncing this. I played back the verification movie, then the submission movie, but it desyncs at the beginning. What am I doing wrong?

I figured out I'm not cut for the moderator job. I explained my reasons to Moozoo in private.

We can't have a submission delayed for months. If you're not working on this anymore, just say it and I'll accept it as is.

Hello, Cephla. It was brought to my attention that this movie doesn't end on reaching the credits like current publication, but it stops earlier, at the last level summary. Was this intentional? I'm asking because I don't want to replace the submission file without first asking if you agree.

Thank you so much for your patience! I can't claim the submission right now because I already have my hands full with other ones. I'll claim it in the next days, unless there is another judge who wants to pick it. In the meantime I'll leave a quick review: I've confirmed sync with the provided verification movie. Also the execution looks really optimized. Great job!
