Trying to do a tas of breath of fire, a jrpg that has a ton of random encounters. This means i must near every town spend 20-25 minutes to grind before moving on. Is there any way i can pause tas, grind, and unpause it to continue the recording? Currently if i pause tas or even close it, i cannot play the game

What game is it? If there are multiple cores for the system, which core are you using?
First this happent on 1943 than on freddys nightmare. After doing a tas and rewinding to beginning i noticed buttons that i never pressed eg start button. Either i pressed some hotkey shortcut that changed something or maybe something got corrupted? Anyway i will try some other game and if it continues i will report. The core used was the best working. Biz said quicknes? is faster but the other is more accurate i always go with accurate edit Tried it with abadox and same happens. I record pass stages 123 and during replay at stage 2 i pick another weapon??? and after a while lose edit2 rerewinded. now i didnt die. it could be that the powerups in teh game are random and when you rewind you need that specific one or its game over dunno what else might be happening really. i even redownloaded a new biz and unzipped it on another disk to make sure it wasnt my hd edit3 could it be because i opened the project today, the game got a different rng? or seed? i think this was the common thing in the past two times i save the project and opened it and continued, if i do it in one run there is no problem

This is the second game this happens and i dont know what is causing it. While making a tas i usually reqind back and re-record what i do. Lately after i finish a game and replay the saved file i see game overs in stages where i passed them. Any idea what is going on? I think i might pressed a button that was a shortcut to something because i havent fiddled with the settings of biz at all

You can play it back within TAStudio using the controls above the checkboxes, set Markers on specific frames so you can jump back to them whenever you want, click in the box to the left of a frame number to jump to that specific frame... TAStudio's pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it, but there are tutorials on the forums that can also help you out if you need it.
Thanks samsa much appreciated, thanks all for helping out!

Uncheck "Recording Mode" in TAStudio, that's for recording live input instead of painting it in. When you have that disabled, it won't delete your input on playback.
exactly that was happening, i thought it was for recording what i input but that was not the case. So after i input my commands i do what? Save the project and run it to see what happens? That recording box was causing the problems.

Which emulator are you using? What exactly do you mean when you say the tas tool and tas window?
The bizhawk, the latest version. Tas winwod i mean the excel like window that has all the inputs, like up down a b etc

Make sure you were actually recording your inputs as a movie(Yeah, that is what it's called) and not just playing the game, rewinding it, and playing it again. Even if you push buttons, if you don't record your inputs, it won't actually do anything. If you're using FCEUX, you should see a red circle on the bottom-right part of the screen when you're recording. If that is not the problem, like the response above has already mentioned, you should use the correct terminology. I hope this helps in any way.
Should i change to fxeux from biz? I think there is the problem, i pressed it and i think it was recording but wasnt keeping the commands, then i tried the play button and it was deleting all my inputs. I will try again in a bit and report back Okay when i have in the tas window the recording mode selected it doesnt do anything, all my inputs are deleted when i unpause it, if i deselect it it keeps the commands it seems
