Someone else (I think it was FODA) already made a 14 minute speedrun. I have the video if anyone needs proof. Or do a search.

Here's a video of me crashing Super Mario 64. Not a speedrun, but it's pretty funny. CAUTION: this video really strains the emulator, so it will most likely desynchronize. If it doesn't crash at the end, simply run forward towards the snowman. Then the game will freeze for sure. http://uploader.polorix.net//files/347/m64%20crash.m64 Don't complain if it doesn't work. This is a major glitch that strains the hardware. I duplicated the hats in the background until the N64 couldn't take it. This is possible on the actual N64, which freezes much sooner. This also works on the Wii virtual console, which results in a total freeze of the Wii software (i.e., I need to unplug the Wii to turn it off). This is also possible on the DS, which multiplies the hats rather than duplicates them.

A more interesting speedrun can be the main plot, rather than secret levels. Also, the giant snake can be defeated almost instantly which is fun to watch...

I'm not sure if that counts as an actual freeze. A freeze is only when the sound stops as well (such as in that Kabuki - Quantum Fighter video). I actually froze Super Mario Land 2 by using a glitch, a video of which I'll post soon...

I meant this as more of a "play around tas" idea, not serious submissions. I find it very funny to see a game freeze due to a glitch, and it would also be funny to see clever ways to die fast on certain games.

I had a great idea for a new type of speedrun: crash the game as soon as possible, or if there is no known way to crash the game than just get a game over as fast as possible. I know this has been done with Kabuki: Quantum fighter, but I think it would be awesome to do with rockman or mario 64. Is my point clear enough to understand? If so, would this be cool?

1. Turning off the sound vastly speeds up the game. This would seem good, except the speed is not limited. I.e., when you turn off the sound, it's as if turbo has been turned on. 2. (The biggest problem) Hotkeys can't be changed at all. This really, really bugs me. The most annoying thing is, when I try to save (CTRL-S) while holding the A button (X is the easiest button for this), it results usually as CTRL-X which quits instantly without warning. Are these being worked on?
