"Metroid New Glitch?" by Koh1fds: Needs movie file to figure out what happened. Probably it was activated many screens earlier. Tecate glitch: I don't know, but the two reasons from nesdev seems reasonable: bumped the console -> misaligned cart -> false code or voltage dip. I guess it wouldn't take many time to reproduce it?

Some questions Wiki: Interviews: 1. Contains 8 Speed Game interviews. (Mass)Media page contains only one for [2725M], so I guess I should remove it from Media and add a link to Speed Game series on Interviews page? 2. Subpages contains usernames... ? I guess this was something an old tradition. Or maybe because of SEO? Do we need that extra subpage just to mention the user and the event at once in the link? MassMedia (this page): 3. Should I ask someone to move the current page to MassMedia (to keep stats)? Or just create it and link it from Media? (this way I could only put only the relevant text (subpages) to the main MassMedia page)

According to your answers to the questions, I guess: - it's might be a virus/malware/rootkit/youarepartofanewzombienet - it's might be a specific DLL/driver conflicting with one of BizHawk's DLL (for example Razer drivers side effect that some PC games don't even launch) If none of the above, please try and compare with an older version. If that's also didn't worked, we need more detailed informations (things I have in my head: perfmon session of 11 seconds span, tasklist and whatever services)

I see some potential in this, but also many problems (TL;DR: nearly same as greysondn's response). Currently what I see as problems: - False positives -> But on closer inspection it was part of a leftover debug thing disconnected from the rest of the game. - Doesn't works for unknown glitches at the first time, only after discovering and trying to defining how to search for it (NES DPCM) - Obfuscated codes Regarding L+R/U+D instant crash on NES is a common issue especially (edit) on not famous game ones. Sometimes you need 3 directions at once, because of differences of implementing it. edit: I would add that this post written based on my J2ME experience, as in porting back the .jad file to .jar and examining the converted code. Probably there is no code obfuscation in old platforms. Also I avoided timing based glitches for obvious reason as it can't be read out from source/compiled code.

- Bolded media sources (unfinished at other TASers) - Nicer grouping bots - lists instead of linebreaks Remaining: subpages

Wouldn't other games could serve as a better example / easier to test and compare the results of console and bizhawk? - Paperboy - Already verified hard to verify TASes (Mega Man geg, Battletoads geg)

Hmm... So much for having a Newbie's first publication on the site.
If you refer to the submission text, I think it's a nice gesture: - this submission was done independently from alex_ik's one - alex_ik's movie was about to be published but got on waiting (edit: feos judged it, than I showed my old improvement. feos compared it and checked that it can't be resynced. Now this movie got submitted which is even more faster and includes my improvement and will probably: be accepted while alex_ik's movie judgement to be changed to rejected for being slower) - authors express their feelings about this, making sure this wasn't planned beforehand or anything similar.

(Will add your informations to the page later, thanks for the notes!) YaLTeR: - Source 2 engine mentioned because Half-Life is present in both GoldSrc and Source 1, just wanted to list it as another example. Obviously there's a lot more engines with low-level operations and game changing stuffs. I guess I should remove the number 2. - Aah .gcf, well it does much better example than my Doom 3 zip tinkering! I could also mention those "preload" or "precache" files in some goldsrc steam games where it lists the order of loading game files in txt file.

Okay, I can say I searched for and collected all the possible techniques I wanted to list. That's being said, I'm looking for feedback or any corrections if someone finds on lack of (edit) mentioning a particular technique. The only information relevant TODO for me is check which bizhawk cores has already implemented the subframes/unplug/connectivity -s.

I'm currently doing other projects. I also wouldn't want to submit it until I can verify that the scissorman skip is possible so the movie does includes all known tricks. Also I still don't have a debugger enabled emulator that able to load the first level.

Updated the page with articles up to the start of AGDQ 2019. It's very close to my imagined final form. Initially I didn't thought the page will become this massive, so I'm looking for some feedback on where to go. Let me summarize the contents of the page first and then the questions. edited from here - Contains many non-TASVideos TASers under TASers - Contains TASes not available on TASVideos at the moment under TASes - Contains many articles in different categories 0. Name and subpages? - Any better name to reflect "TASers, TASes and TASVideos in the media"? - Divide pages in to subpages? (Media/TASers, Media/Movies, Media...) and names? 1. Where should this page located? - Wiki: Interviews are under Members, but maybe Other is more suitable. - Wiki: Interviews currently edit: contains only shows and text interviews 2. Where should this page mentioned? - Somewhere in Wiki: SiteHistory (see #5) - End/bottom of Wiki: WelcomeToTASVideos (see #4) 3. Should I make subpages to exclude non-TASVideos TASers and TASes? - Especially that most of them refer to a youtube video, not uploaded by TASVideosChannel - Also this way it should be easier to navigate Plans without questions: 4. Editing Wiki: WelcomeToTASVideos - A better example than 2009 crispy gamer article - Linking this Media page for more articles 5. Editing Wiki: SiteHistory - Move interviews (Speed games mostly) from my Media page to here

That pause trick looks awesome, nice find xxNKxx! The end result might be not that entertaining, but it's definitely in the same vein as the Ninja Gaiden Pacifist strategies.

I also think the judgment is okay and should be published: - My WIP desyncs on level 2, which means it requires lot of work ("3D" shooting scenes) to resync / add to this movie - This submission still beats all known records (as in beating the game, not per level)

I saw similar problems on random computers. Can you answer these questions? 1. DPI settings? You should leave them on normal, 100% (Start > Settings > System > Display) 2. Any windows program with UI/personalization running, like Window blinds or theme programs? -> Try turning them off. 3. Did you activated Windows? Any more informations like did it worked earlier, what changed then..?

My personal opinions and views I wanted to share: - Totally agree with Alyosha even after Nach's microsoft knife post: "I am almost stunned at the staff response here. I can only describe it as half interested and tired. " - After reading the public thread of private staff conversation, I still understand that what is the staff response now? - I hope we don't lose Spikestuff, an avid encoder who frequently takes time and effort to point out might be obvious mistakes with concrete examples as well as fixed movie inputs. - I see there are some witchhunting surrounding this drama which I don't understand why it's needed to brought up... Also why they are not gruefooded already?

All these informations are so scattered. I would like to help in solving the situation but as I see it's all comes down to this: - We need all information from Spikestuff's side - Categorize the relevant other side from OP at some degree - Some official statements on most of these pieces.

I don't find the answers at your link feos. What I said is that there are multiple differently clocked "IBM PCs" at the time and the "default 20MHz" seems arbitrary to me, depending that the very first one was running at 4.77MHz and we are here with many GHz today where the 1 GHz upper limit seems arbitrary as well to me (pentium IV 1.7~3.8GHz) edit: well the answer is "In-game settings and environment parameters that have arbitrary nature and don't belong to point 1 should be left at default values", my question is still: why these numbers? what's based off?

Regarding Wiki: MovieRules#CpuFrequencyRestrictions I have a few questions: 1. Why 1 GHz is the upper limit? 2. Why 20 MHz is the maximum otherwise? 3. What kind of proof considered to be enough? - This limit may be stretched if proof can be provided that the game was designed to run on faster systems than the 20MHz default. I spent a little time on gathering informations about this but still unsure about these particular numbers being picked. The wikipedia articles about these are a real mess, so I gatherd from other places. Regarding 2: As far as I see, for example 286 what referenced in the rule also had 25 MHz clock speed variant. The first IBM PC runs at 4.77 MHz. So... 20? Regarding 3: I checked a few manuals for DOS and the most common things are these: - Invalid informations (mostly by human mistakes) - Earlier only minimum requirements were being told - IBM PC without mentioning any models but emphasizing "100% compatible" (Duke Nukem games for example) one OR a list of possible variations with some pitfalls (Lemmings for example) Well then manuals are definitely out of question for providing as proofs, right?
