  • Does NOT manipulate luck, even if it may seem like it when I win the first round when playing Black Jack, but the fact is that if you use the newsclip on the dealer you will have like 97% to win, that's why it wasn't necessary to manipulate luck. There is no other place in the movie where I manipulate luck either.
Deja Vu 2 is the sequal to Deja Vu (hence, the name), and the story takes place just hours after the first game. You (Ace Harding) wake up naked in a bathroom. This time, however, you DO remember who you are, and you also remember that you owe some mobster a lot of money.
The goal in the game, however, is not to get the money, instead you're supposed to frame the mobsters, and you do this by planting a certain items in desks and stuff like that.
Before making this run, I planned the route very carefully, plus I did some calculations about cursor movement.
There are a lot of stuff that is a lot faster in this game compared to Deja Vu. The´re's also lots of minor stuff that goes a little faster.
In some places you have to wait for several seconds before you can move again, such as riding the train, or the elevator. This is really annoying and takes up a lot of time in the movie. However, it couldn't be avoided.
Special thanks to Walker Boh for giving me the inspiration to make TAS of a storybook-game that hasn't been runned before.
I hope you enjoy watching this movie, if you don't, let me know what you didn't like so that I can do something about it.
Sidenote: The ROM used in the making of this movie also includes remake of Deja Vu. I suggest you try this out if you liked Deja Vu for NES, the GBC version is a little different.

adelikat: This movie is on par with the other storybook runs and, like the NES Deja Vu, this game has interesting possibilities for optimal on-screen cursor movement. Randil maximizes these possiblities nicely. I am accepting this submission. Congratulations on being my first judged submission :)

If you want to watch this movie but can't find the ROM Deja Vu I & II (U) [C][!].gbc, try with Deja Vu I & II (U) [!].gbc. The [C] in the ROM-name just states that this is a gameboy color game, therefor it shouldn't be any difference between these two ROM:s.

Awesome game, even better movie. Nice menu manipulation and overall enjoyable to watch. I bought this cart awhile back and it took me a long time to figure out certain parts of this game. Anyone remember this game on an Apple IIe? lol

I'm really glad you liked my movie mrlemonlame! Yes, manu manipulation goes really, really fast in this game, which makes this run really fast-paced. And I agree, some parts of this game are "what the crap am I supposed to do now???"-hard. :)

Haha, doing a GBC run with FCEU is quite trivial actually, just rename the ROM to .nes instead of .gbc, and voila! ;) But on a more serious note, I think I'll just change that in the author's comments now. And thank you very much for your vote FreshFeeling. :) I had almost forgotten about this run completely... I believe it to be well played, although the game doesn't seem very popular. We'll just have to see what other people think about it.

Ok so I watched this run (sorry I used VBA to watch it :p) I liked it and it seems as high quality as your other storybook runs, so it should definately be published. Good job (and yes vote). The game seems an awful lot like the plot of the first one. At first I thought that was silly, why would he be running around doing the same stuff. Then I remembered, he has AMNESIA! He doesn't remember that he has been through this before ;) Seriously this guy should see a doctor about this problem!

Dude, he had totally been injected with something in Deja Vu 1, some bad drug or something. So it's not normal amnesia. :P Although I do think that he should stop making enemies all over USA, it's not good for him. Thanks for the Yes vote, btw. :)

It's a pretty enjoyable run. The speed of the menus is tight. I, though, being pretty sonicly inclined, am disappointed that there isn't a sound for each menu movement. It would give this run more of a barrage of sound/speed feel. Still; short, sweet, and to the point. Worth the time.

Thank you Bisqwit for endoding and publishing this run! And thank you too, Less Ashamed Of Self, for your kind words. I don't mean to complaint or anything here, but the text in the .avi says that this is a "Deja Vu TAS", but it is actually a "Deja Vu 2 TAS"... This is no mayor thing, the viewer will of course notice that this is a run of Deja Vu 2 and not Deja Vu 1 as soon as the movie begins, but it was just a small thing I noticed. I noticed that this run has no description yet, so here's my suggestion for description: "This is a TAS of the game Deja Vu 2, the sequal to the popular Deja Vu for NES. This time, however, you DO remember who you are, and you also remember that you owe some mobster a lot of money. Overall, this movie is a lot like the other storybook TAS: Superfast menu-navigation, a lot of routeplanning, and the general feeling of "What in the world is going on in this movie?"" As always, feel free to comment this description, it's just a suggestion. EDIT: And by the way, why can't the forum type my Location under my avatar anymore? The "ö" looks really weird. Just a sidenote. EDIT 2: Fixed it, so no worry.

I have a strange feeling... That you have done this run before... Deja vu! Bad joke, that was a real bad joke I know! :P Great job man! Watched the timeattack-both the vbm version and the AVI- file! Outstanding!
