Is there even Dracula in this game? Not sure!

Bram Stoker's Dracula (GB) in 03:16.51

Run details

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.9.1
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Skips all bosses
  • Uses hardest difficulty

This game is broken... Wiggle glitch!!

  • Welp, unlike the NES version, the GB version is actually broken. I think due to coding issues, they disregarded the fact that you can duck while falling from a platform. This is big for this game because you can trigger the animation for letting go of a soft platform, if you're too close, you can land inside the hard platform, from then, you can wiggle to zip to the left side of the screen, and LUCKILY that triggers the victory music which clears the level without fighting any boss (not even last boss).
  • I think this glitch is worth showcasing, as it is fun to see everything being skipped. Moreover, it is properly broken because it does require a platform to fall from, which for instance, in scene 5-1, we go through a bit of the stage to find the closest platform for the skip. A lot of lag management is involved there as well.
  • I would not like the glitch if it can happen at will, by like just jumping then triggering the skip as it would be boring.

Full game?

  • This run mostly showcases the said glitch, but the game itself is a carbon copy of the NES version, plus it is too laggy if you want to play it. I'd recommend watching the NES version for more content from the game.

Special thanks

  • RTA community for finding this trick (not sure who exactly).
  • k0zzx: For his WR run which allowed me to figure the best places to use the wiggle glitch.

Hope you enjoy wiggle wiggle wiggle!!

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Replacing movie with cycle count correction.
nymx: Well, there is no arguing with this run. You even did better than the "partial" TAS that I found.... That glitch really makes quick work of this game. Congratulations!
Accepting.
nymx: user has an update, that I will replace when I get home. Setting to delayed.
nymx: Replacing movie file at the request of the author. Setting back to accepted.

despoa: Processing...

Ah yes, the good ol' "clip and zip to do a level wrap" glitch; very familiar to anyone who watches 2D Sonic games being TASed. Yes vote. (At least I'm assuming it's a level wrap where the player ends up at the very right end of the level map by underflowing a location coordinate - have you looked in memory to confirm that because we don't have camhacks?)

Yes, standard runs are needed and very appreciated here too

Not really, didn't look at it (would be funny if it is xD) but while making this, I think it is different than Sonic games because it triggers victory music, so you win lol Also, for anyone replaying the movie and getting a bios disabled warning, here is an input file that fixes that and now it saves 17 frames thanks to a small zip in scene 5-1. I worked with a dev version that doesn't have that error, but it should sync in any case.

I feel like the actual gameplay is shorter than menu and score screens. Yes vote!
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

I'm most reminded of [3685] NES Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight "warp glitch" by MESHUGGAH & Challenger in 06:50.22. The glitch is cool to see, but once you know it, the novelty wears off fast once you realize this is how every stage is gonna be beaten. The victory fanfare also sounds a lot less pleasant than on NES. At least, unlike when the Street Fighter 2010 movie was submitted, this cannot obsolete the NES version.

I agree with you on that. It is repetitive and music isn't that pleasing like NES one. However, at least it is exclusive to this version, otherwise, there won't be anything to show as it is mostly worse than NES version. Also, this aims for the fastest time possible, so I guess it is just a standard movie.

That was repetitive but didn't last long enough for it to get boring. Yes vote.

Why is Mario in this game? :P
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX
