The goal of this TAS is to crash NES Tetris (Nintendo, 1989) as fast as possible. I suppose this is the sequel to this TAS: https://tasvideos.org/7624S I do have a sort of companion TAS to this submission that can be found here: https://youtu.be/VANrdLxnntY&t=0 which I may consider worthy of submitting on its own merits. You can find a level conversion sheet for this submission here: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/987042025624981534/1001200368086171709/Level_Conversion_Table.jpg This TAS features a boatload of RNG manipulation via pause abuse to delay when certain pieces hit the stack, and make it more likely that I get long bars for tetrises.
Seeing as this TAS may be the first of its kind, here are a couple of the possible improvements that I could make: Maintaining a center well for the entirety of the movie. Playing closer to the top of the screen (within reason of course).
A version 4.0 is currently in production.

nymx: Claiming for judging.

nymx: I had hoped to hear from the author, but I doubt anything can be said to explain the optimization issue that I have concerns over. The technique of building a tower to land pieces faster, was not used. If that had been the case, then at minimum we could have put this submission into "Playground"...as previously mentioned by feos.
I'm sorry, you have done great in your improvements...but please give it one more try. For now, I'm rejecting this due to optimization once again.

Nice work! I find it interesting that this TAS uses BizHawk instead of FCEUX, as FCEUX has more accurate sound emulation in general, and I am completely blind. I actually enjoyed this run, and I can't wait for a TAS of this on FCEUX!

The original submission of this TAS used FCEUX but the author was asked to switch to BizHawk for their second go-around due to the NESHawk core's better emulation accuracy with regards to the "rather timing-sensitive behavior" involved in performing this crash. The original TAS can be found here. Anyway, this TAS might not be perfect but it does seem to be a lot better than the previous and I find the idea quite entertaining. Would love to see someone write up an explanation for what causes the crash. Yes vote.

Voting No for obvious sub-optimal play and bad goal choice. To repeat myself from the previous submission, I'm all for an NES Tetris TAS that pushes the game to its limits. but I don't think crashing the game should be the goal in itself. Best theoretical score/lines/level would be much more interesting in my opinion.

Use cheat code 9C89:FF to keep the score rolling. It doesn't desync the TAS. 23 rollovers at 1490 lines with a score of 38131971. The crash is random with a score this high. To achieve all glitch colors, play up to level 191.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Here is what concerns me.

I'm just curious as to why this wasn't done on your remake. In my opinion, this jeopardizes your submission, since previously accepted TASes already do this. I commend you on cutting a ton of time, over your previous work....but this needs to be addressed.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game?
