For those who do not know about this game

moon is an RPG released on PS in 1997 and celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022. At the time of its release, the game was much talked about for its catchphrase, "No more hero" and for its gameplay, which is an RPG but does not involve defeating monsters. Due to the dissolution of the developer Lovedelic, the game was not playable on hardware other than PS for a long time, but it was ported to Switch in 2019 and to Steam in 2021.

About this game

The objective of the game is to go to the moon and open the door. In order to go to the moon, it is necessary to raise the level to 22 and collect 5 rocket parts, which are the conditions for clearing the game. Many events have detailed conditions for their occurrence at different times and on different days of the week, and the real challenge in creating the shortest possible time to clear the game is to construct an efficient chart that takes these conditions into account.

Relationship between TAS and RTA

This game is a recent addition to the RTA despite being an older game. (Registration on speedrun.com was in 2020). The early RTA records were very much influenced by the in-game time TAS I created way back when. The RTA caused a record fight. It has improved dramatically compared to the early charts. Around January 2023, the record was about 2h19m, but by March it had shrunk to about 2h3m25s. Because of the nature of the game and the waiting time, the concept of charting is not very different between RTA and TAS, and the charts are similar. This TAS will be the record based on that latest chart.

General Tips

The stories that affect speed in running RTAs are summarized on speedrun.com. And this is also helpful information for TAS.

PS vs Steam

RTA WR is faster than TAS. This is largely due to the hardware, which has a very long load time on PS. This results in the shocking fact that RTA is faster! (The player who recorded 2h3m25s in RTA and the creator of this TAS is the same person, me.)

Glitch for RTA only

Lehman glitch is used in RTA but not in TAS. The Lehman glitch is that if you get Lehman's love first in a separate saved data, you can get Lehman's love immediately in the separate data. However, this does not make sense in TAS, where the measurement starts from the power-on state.

Commentary

Japanese, but we have created an explanatory video.

feos: Fixed movie header.
Darkman425: Thanks to both Spikestuff and feos for getting the sync issues I've had all sorted out. Now that I can confirm sync on my end, I can properly judge this lovely game's TAS.
Darkman425: I do apologize for how long it took for this game and submission to be properly judged. Tech issues do be like that sometimes.
Watching this submission reminded me how lovely and charming this game is. I definitely recommend checking out Moon for yourselves if you haven't experienced the game yet.
As for the TAS, the heart and stamina routing is very on point and tight even with the intentional waiting for the timed events. The RNG manipulation seems to be on point, especially on the fishing. While this seems slower than RTA the main time difference is that RTA uses modern ports that have reduced load times across the board. While this submission seems like it covers most of the content, I can assure you that there's a whole lot of content that doesn't get covered that can be shown off with a potential "all hearts" TAS in the future.
Accepting to Standard.

As discussed here, it is re-created with the following BIOS because it was not reproducible depending on the BIOS. https://tasvideos.org/Forum/Topics/24290 The re-created BIOS is below. (PSX_3.0(J).bin)
Algorithm Hash
--------- ----
SHA1 B05DEF971D8EC59F346F2D9AC21FB742E3EB6917

I checked the input file and it still lists the other hash used in the previous submission rather than the PSX_3.0(J).bin BIOS hash. I did try to play it again regardless and it desynced at the same place as last time. Did you upload the older input file on accident? If you did, you can upload the correct one to Wiki: UserFiles so I can verify sync and replace the submission with the correct input.

It's the same file as the one in the submission. CRC32: 925C2C15 MD5: 0E5E16C2754C6D9C28BEDDCE5EE3F52C SHA-1: 6A89A7B2B24A2FEFA8052F1794C499778434A7AA And it doesn't sync for me with the B05DEF971D8EC59F346F2D9AC21FB742E3EB6917 bios. poco_cpp, what's the hashsum of your game files? I have
c0236a787207e09e61ae71801d712a638f7e2776 "Moon - Remix RPG Adventure (Japan).bin"

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The hash values are different....
>CertUtil -hashfile "Moon - Remix RPG Adventure.bin" sha1
SHA1 ハッシュ (対象 Moon - Remix RPG Adventure.bin):

SHA1 ハッシュ (対象 Moon - Remix RPG Adventure.cue):

I think the content of cue is text, so it may be different depending on the filename. Just to be sure, I imaged from the game CD again, and the hash value of the bin file was the same as above.

What does the dump status report say if you click the green checkmark? For me it says this
Moon - Remix RPG Adventure (Japan) Disc was identified (99.99% confidently) as known good with disc id hash CRC32:BF5383C5 Nonetheless it could be an unrecognized romhack or patched version. According to redump.org, the ideal hash for entire disc is: CRC32:1DF0DBFF The file you loaded hasn't been hashed entirely (it would take too long) Compare it with the full hash calculated by the PSX menu's Hash Discs tool
But when I use the hash disks tool it shows the same hash as redump has:
1DF0DBFF Moon - Remix RPG Adventure (Japan).cue

Oh hey it looks like you're using a different version of the game! http://redump.org/disc/57995/

I see...there is a possibility of "PlayStation the Best"... When I did a google image search, "PlayStation the Best" had an orange base with the words "The Best" on it. However, the game CD I have is white and doesn't have "The Best" on it... I'm not picky about early versions or "The Best" versions. However, if possible, I would like to submit it in this version. Is it possible? (Because I don't know if I can get the early version CD)
