SMB The Mystery of Luigi (ルイージの謎), a superb Super Mario Bros. hack by ATA (the same author as Extra Mario Bros).
This is the 3rd TAS I made for this hack, an 195 frame improvement over the last version. Main improvements come from two damage clips. Time-saving adjustments have been made for various rooms.

Game Objectives

  • Getting the best ending in the fastest time.
  • Movie stops after the frame Mario and lifts disappear (the same principle as every other SMB1 TASes).
This TAS has heavy glitch abuse. For those who aren't familiar with it, this hack can be completed without any glitch, and there are two bad endings if Mario hasn't rescued Luigi.

Minor Details

  • In the first underground room, I entered the pipe a few frames later on purpose, to save frames during the damage clip in the next room.
  • I've also thought of and tested other solutions in the Bullet Bill room, but this is the best I can get. The Bullet Bill used is frame precise.
  • In the Luigi room, the wall clipping isn't for entertainment; it saves 2 frames.
  • Before the flagpole, I performed music sync with jumping.
Suggested screenshot (frame #3847):

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: It's even better than I anticipated! Obvious acceptance.

despoa: Processing...

Very cool. This hack shows a number of interesting scenarios that you wouldn't see in the base game, and the glitches used to solve them are great. I'm glad you improved your run, because it's even better now. Yes vote.

Absolutely incredible and awesome! Voted YES.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Finally, a new SMB hack TAS, I love it! Been a while, huh? Well, I loved the new improvements (mostly the damage clips, as mentioned in the submission. I never knew that the 2011 run could still be improved further; regardless, this has been ten and a half years well spent. Obvious yes vote. :)
Yaaay, I'm an active player now! :D (as of 11/9/2024) Thanks to TASVideos for the support, they're awesome.
I'm Asumeh, semi-expert SMB1 TASer. :) Check out some of the TASes I don't submit/upload to TASVideos on my YouTube channel, if you'd like. In progress: - Extra Mario Bros. (redo) (with HappyLee and w7n) - I'm currently assisting with finding improvements before the boss. On hold; we're currently struggling to confirm that we have the fastest route. Some debugging may also help with finding glitch exits, but neither of us are experts in that field. - Record my older TASes (excluding any obsolete TASes) and upload to YouTube. - Pretty busy at the moment... Check out my other links here. (Mostly WIP hehe)

Loved it. Really impressive and unexpected solutions to almost every room. Well done! I support this being published. Entertainment was top notch throughout. Btw, which game(s) is/are the music and sound effects from? I feel nostalgia tickeling my ears, but can't quite figure it out.

The ROM hack is a parody of the infamously bad Transformers: Mystery of Convoy. It has elements from that game, including the unfortunate flashing. https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Mystery_of_Convoy
