Comments

To save time I avoid the majority of the enemies, and take the power-ups of the statues.
The game finish in the scene 8,and then begins the round 2.
Has an interesting trick that was used in the boss 6.
Basically few seconds before him do vulnerable,do an attack with multiple scrolls, depending of the number he can lose 2 bars of health.

feos: Updated the movie with a 751 frame improvement.
Noxxa: The movie looks technically sound, although it comes short on entertainment value and audience response (largely due to the eye-searing scrolling). Accepting for the Vault.
feos: Pub.

Ooh, I didn't know this game before. The run was fairly interesting, and short enough not to get boring. Yes vote.

is this related to pocky and rocky SNES game?
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

grassini: I was thinking the same thing. There's also one stage of Rainbow Islands (Bubble Bobble 2) that is probably referencing this game, since it starts with the same music and similar images. The scrolling made my head hurt at first, but the action is pretty good. It looks like the run makes the game look too easy. zupapa, can you explain bosses 6 and 7, since they look quite different from the other fights?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

Boss 6 has a period of invincibility, I think this can not be manipulated. Boss 7 is much healthier than others, and usually follows the character making it impossible to beat him with normal methods. Update: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/35928501575170431 That is a version improved in the boss 1,boss 6 and some routes were improved.

According to the Wikipedia article of KiKi KaiKai: Like The Ninja Warriors, KiKi KaiKai had been a one-off work until 1992, when Taito allowed Natsume to release KiKi KaiKai: Nazo no Kuro Mantle, which would be known as Pocky & Rocky for its North American release. Therefore, Pocky & Rocky is the sequel of this game. Anyway, the TAS was pretty solid, but....I'd prefer if it was either done on the Arcade or the PC Engine version. Really, this port's main weak point is the choppy scrolling. This gets a very weak Meh for the entertainment for me. By the way, the 7th boss is a tanuki (or rather, a bake-danuki), known in Japanese folklore to transform into humans or other objects. See the Wikipedia article for more details. By the way, said Wikipedia article also mentions this is, in fact, Rocky, who turns out to be an ally in Pocky & Rocky.

Interestingly, this game was reviewed by a Dutch MSX Magazine and also there the biggest comment was the very annoying choppy scroll. Also, they didn't know the real title back then (look for "Katikuya Fighter King"). And funnily enough, they choose a very similar screenshot :) See page 26 of https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.msxcomputermagazine.nl/archief/bladen/msx_computer_magazine_36.pdf

If that's the same as DM then that's quite expensive...

Yes, it was very expensive and the review also mentions that as one of the reasons why the conclusion is "Highly NOT recommended!!". It was a direct import from Japan and these were always quite expensive in those days. But for that money you could buy much better new Japan imports.

I enjoyed this run's movement optimization but I struggled with the scrolling. I don't often vote Meh but I've opted to do so here as I think it falls just short of the bar in the entertainment category to be in consideration for Moons. Well done on the optimization though!
I was laid off in May 2023 and became too ill to work this year and could use support via Patreon or onetime donations as work on TASBot Re: and TASBot HD is stalled. I'm dwangoAC, TASVideos Senior Ambassador and BDFL of the TASBot community; when healthy, I post TAS content on YouTube.com/dwangoAC based on livestreams from Twitch.tv/dwangoAC.

Synced/dumped. Should I judge or publish this?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Maybe someone with SVP can make it smoother :)

SVP won't help. It's not a frame rate issue. It's just bad use of the hardware... they're not using any sort of scrolling register of the V9938.
