Post subject: A different kind of TAS

I made a choose your own adventure style TAS of Super Smash Brothers Mele (found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDfOFyXGgJU). While I know that it's not appropriate for submission, is there a place for this kind of TAS on this website?

Alright this is actually pretty neat. Only tried one run, got wrecked, will try again later.

Very creative! Good job Most importantly, the gameplay was top notch

This is a very fun and creative idea! I really liked it. Took me a few tries to get the victory ending (first try I got the sudden death one). It really makes you hooked into the TAS match, rooting for the Fox to take the advantage with every choice you make. Only thing that bothered me a bit was how random the results would be after the particular decision you've made. As in, you can take one of two choices, and either result will be basically fine, it's just the rest of the TAS (until the next split) is basically a blind gamble with who gets the advantage afterwards. Also, the winning ending was slightly anti-climactic - it was a good TAS, but I kept expecting there would be some last-hit decision to make or break it all. The 30 seconds of TAS game before the win was played well, but it was just not quite as satisfying as I expected it to be.

I thought about making a last minute decision a bunch. But ultimately, I decided not to because I wanted a long extended combo with a nice flow to it. I tried to get back some of that last moment excitement with the missing of the second hit of the first upair which was closely followed by a second hit only upair. As for the randomness after each decision, I tried to make it as fair to the viewer as possible. When options such as "Waveland Upsmash" result in a bad combo, the reason is because that decision is suboptimal at lower percents. So while fox gets the hit off, falco DIs away and is able to become frame positive against Fox. Which is why Fox eats the punish even though he successfully got a hit off. For each decision, I story boarded the outcomes past that point, and they all have reasons for going the way that they do. Those reasons sometimes get muddled and don't come across as clearly as I would have liked, which is something that you experienced. This style of video is new to me, and I'm still learning how to best communicate my ideas through it. So I''m glad you liked it, and thank you for the feedback. It will help me make videos that are more clear and less frustrating in the future.
