Feel free to use it, but tbh if Growl misses are a problem (AI players have a 1/4 chance to fail a Growl, so it's fairly easy to manipulate compared to some other events) you should probably work on your luck manipulation strategy instead. For starters, you should try and isolate at which point each random decision is made, so you can manipulate them individually one at a time instead of all at once (e.g. the enemy attack is chosen right after you chose yours, but the hit test, damage and crit for each attack is only determined after the "X used Y" text, so you can use the text to manipulate each outcome individually).

Yes i know how manipulate critical hit or misses hit , but it s not ennemy growl , it s my charmander growl i want miss , it's so hard to get this . So i took your start until the oak parcel , i will not submission before your agreement. Thank for the answer.

Oh, I see. As I said, feel free to use any part you want. Just consider sharing some routes or WIPs before your new submission, to avoid it being rejected for some small routing mistakes.

Thank a lot , i will use WIPs before submissions this time . So i have restart a run with your begin , i have made an awesome battle in forest , success to get 6 damage to critical ( in my submissions i just get 5 damage critical ) so i do the battle with 5 hit (6 hit in my submissions ) and i've made a really fast reset this time , i used all advices i get with my first submission. But i'm stuck , when i go to Saffron Pokecenter i can't talk to any character , i must use the computer , change box for save and reset , so i lost lot of frame here but i didnt test If I lose it more that I won it. In my canceled submission i dont need do this , i can talk to the pokecenter's girl. So what is wrong in the new version ? Idea ( Charmander HP, Level , or any stat ) I hope it's Charmander Hp or this run will not be faster than my old. EDIT: Well i got some problem , Charmander Hp stuck me so i need take damage for be able to talk at the girl in the Saffron pokecenter or use the computer for save , i tried all way and finaly the best way is take damage but the only way is with an other battle , that doesnt work with the bug catcher battle , he do me so more damage and i'm not able to talk the girl. So I dont take any part of your Tas and restart again with all advices and this time at the beginnig , tried put the option after the begin and finaly that work i win around 5 frames , it s right? But i need a last confirmation , if i can't be One shot in Red Version for the faint fly trainer glitch i will use the Blue version.

I can't really give any meaningful comment without knowing anything about the route, how you got to the point you got stuck in. You'll need to give way more information. I can't answer your questions about getting stuck in Saffron or getting one shot by something, I'm missing all of the context. In general, I have the impression that you put too much emphasis on the execution (like you describe getting 5 or 6 dmg) and too little on the overall planning and route. I remember someone mentioned on your canceled submission that the route follows some RTA route, which I'm concerned is far from optimal since TAS and non-TAS routes usually differ quite a bit. TAS-ifying an existing RTA route is fine in principle, but you'll need understanding of how things actually work and why certain route decisions were made in order to improve on it, since in a TAS the decisions might be different. Blindly following an existing non-TAS route will likely get you rejected for too apparent suboptimality.

Ok i'm sorry , i will explain the new route with your movie who stuck me : Manipulate Charmander DV for be 16 36 Lose the rival's battle Bring Oak parcel Bug catcher battle Shopping for have 6 item at Pewper shop Brock through wall Walk to Saffron Heal to Saffron Pokecenter Faint fly trainer at Route 6 Dojo battle Missingno catch Overflow With this way , Charmander is level 6 at Safron Pokecenter and have 21 hp . When i want talk to the pokecenter's girl that doesn't work and i must use the computer for save. I tried take damage for be able to talk the girl , that work but not always . Ok, so as I understand it you are getting stuck because after Brock-through-Walls, you can't talk to NPCs anymore. I assume it overwrote some memory you didn't want to have overwritten while corrupting the memory. I don't really understand your Brock-through-Walls setup here: You are using the DVs to spell out the coordinates 16 36, so the PP of the first two moves will be the address that is copied from. This determines what effects you will get. It has nothing to do with the amount of HP, as far as I know. Most likely you overwrote the addresses $cd60 (the LSB of which disables any interactions) or $cd6b (which suppresses buttons presses). Both of them could cause this behavior. You need to adjust your PP to spell out a more useful address. If you don't want to do the calculations to determine which addresses do what, the easiest way is probably to use a savestate before the Brock-through-Walls and manipulate the RAM addresses (find out which ones on the page you linked) to try some values out and see what they do.

Hey sorry for late answer , Im destuck , i finish the movie but i need work on the missingno fight ( i need three growl failed with my charmander , it s so hard) The movie is 12 min 4X sec , i didnt remender i'm not on the good computer. I will submit when my missigno fight will be good . If anyone want see the movie i can upload this . For ALAKTORN , Why you want other people make pokemon TASes , i remenber what you said in my submited topic. "Why would anyone bother TASing Pokémon games when you’ve completely mastered them with a bot? I don’t even look forward to any Pokémon TAS unless it’s from you at this point."

I'm happy to take a look at your WIP, but it may take a while until I come around to looking at it closely. I'm sure others are happy to help you, too.

The code is hacked together for my personal use, I didn't bother make it any pretty or easy to use. If I published in its current state, I'd need to do constant tech support duty for all the quirks it has. Tbh I'd like to keep it as a personal project, not extend into some fully supported piece of software that I have to spend time maintaining. I originally planned to pretty it up in the end but never came around to doing it (making new TASes is just more fun than refactoring old code). With the comments I saw in leopo89's last submission though, I see that it may be necessary. It seems I created unreasonable (and wrong!) expectations for TASes of these games. I'm glad that my submissions were well-liked, but execution is only a small part. You can optimally bot all you want if your route is suboptimal, a few lost frames are irrelevant compared to the seconds or even minutes you can easily lose/gain in these games (im)proper routing. I'll make it public, but don't hold your breath for it. In the mean time, please don't judge submissions purely on the fact that it doesn't have millions of automated rerecords :).

Hello everybody, Shenanagans here. You may remember me from around the time Brock Through Walls was discovered. For those of you that follow Speedrunning you may know that a Pokemon glitch exhibition has made it into AGDQ 2016 this year! In order for this to be as successful as possible I am reaching out to various communities for support/help and would love to hear any ideas that you all have! My knowledge from the games mostly comes from knowledge of speedrunning glitches so I am fairly useless when it comes to more intricate setups. We will be limited to gens 1/2 as we need to use the gameboy player for these glitches, and the glitches will need to be preform-able on console as well. Let me know here if you have anything in mind!

Doesn't the Gameboy Player emulate the GBA, so Gen III would be possible as well? EDIT: @Pokota: Thanks, that's very interesting to know.

GBP actually is a Game Boy Advance in a shell that fits in the Gamecube's footprint. So no, it doesn't emulate the GBA - it is one. Same processor and everything.

There seems to be a difference between GBP and GBA in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, however, whereby waiting on the title screen for the cinematics and subsequently playing the game will create extra lag on GBP.

It's mostly due to layouts (we want to stick to gens 1/2 because they use the same aspect ratio, whereas gen 3 games would require a new layout)

Aww, no chance for RSE to make its GDQ debut? BibleThump ...Hang on, why would there be a change in layout? It's off the GBP, so GB/GBC games would have black bars around the border anyway, along with the GBP's border (the one that says "Z Button: Options"). Edit: A better phrasing might be "either way, you'll have the GBP's border around the outside and the game screen inside, and the GBP's border is the same aspect ratio regardless of whether it's a GB/GBC/GBA game".

They crop the whole outside layout (as can be seen in my last sgdq run here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtZ7CzbxBFM ) We could potentially do gen 3, but it would require a change of layouts, which may be a problem :( Edit: actually it looks like they only cropped the boarder, so gen 3 should be ok!

...and Gen III still didn't appear. :( What would be nice to see eventually is an Emerald glitched speedrun with the whole Pomeg glitch -> "throwing Bad Eggs at the Pokemon League to make them forfeit" joke. The audience/chat's reaction to that would be hilarious, and it would bring something unique to a GDQ Pokemon run/event that hasn't been shown before. --- On topic, since this is R/B, are there any plans to submit an actual optimized No Save Corruption category? (The current movie is NSC and no warps.) Or since we have equivalents for Gen II and III already, any plans to submit a No Memory Corruption/"glitchless" category? The current real time record for that is now faster than the ancient TAS record. (While I'm talking, how about a Yellow No Save Corruption category? The route for that is now substantially different.)

I know there's duping, but I'm not sure if there's that 100 point cap with stat boosting items in G1. Also, that's slow for mass editing values. Is that possible without TAS? Edit: I meant max legit stats btw, in case they have some check.
