What would be the time on N64 with this ? close to sub 5 too I guess ? Hopefully Snark (or Tyler or someone else) will still find a few optimizations :)

Tyler is amazing, but he's probably not the one to look for for optimizations, he's more about coming up with new strats. Snark seems to be having a bit of trouble so far.

Epic, it's nice to see another big project up and running. I thought there'd be more authors for a big project though.

Isn’t Japanese version faster for 70 stars?

Both Japanese versions are slower in 70 star. Shindou especially because of the loading times.

I thought that was only 0 star due to that long Bowser speech at the end. Why is it faster?

Bowser has the same amount of text in 0 and 70 star, it's only different if you collect all stars.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

He was referring to the difference in number of text boxes at each Bowser fight between the U and J version, as shown in this video. US version is faster in 70 for basically the same reason. I don't have the information on hand, but it has been timed in the past to be at least a couple seconds faster in 70 star. The Japanese version is only fastest for 120 star (or 0 star if moat skip is implemented).

Yeah, I thought that extra text would be faster and cancel that out, but coming to think of it it is all pretty short.

I just found the 2 frames that I think snark saved. One was while in the PU, and the other one was during the pausing to change camera. I didn't know you could press right and start at the same time lol.

I'm wonder if the menus reuse code or something, I just noticed (I have probably before and forgot) that you could hold down of the first frame for save to so it loaded one down on the save menu. If someone has nothing to do I guess they could check.

If you're going to switch the camera angle, it would surely be best to do it during a pause blj. Especially earlier on, given it would allow for a lot of stylistic choices throughout the run.

Sorry if this is a dumb question: Why is it necessary to wall jump up the elevator shaft then fall back down to BLJ? Is it possible to begin BLJing without first getting to the top of the elevator?

You can't change the camera angle to "fixed" while Mario is moving, you have to pause while is Mario is standing still.

If you start BLJing too soon, you'll go through the cage before building up enough speed. You need to be BLJing against the gray bricks to build up enough speed to go to the PU.
