De-starring the all souls run for even an instant would be an insult to the site. Personally, I would just star both of them. They're both fantastic in their own way.

This. I've watched that run (and the runs it obsoleted) dozens of times and it still amazes me. Sonic 3 and Knuckles has two Starred runs for it, so unless we're bringing up the old "past mistakes" adage again I don't see why we can't have both of the AoS run Starred as well.

One desirable feature of stars is variety. Giving multiple stars to the same game is dubious in this regard (unless the different TASes really are so different that they deserve it.) I'd suggest two stars being the absolute maximum for one single game, and even then only for good reasons.

Both Castlevania runs deserve to be starred. But if only one TAS can have the star, my vote falls on the "all souls" TAS.

All Souls is RNG manipulation at it's best (apparently) so, it should keep the star.

I concur, and for this reason I object to having to having two Star runs for Aria of Sorrows.

I was also thinking if the same principle should be applied to game franchises as well (although perhaps with a number slightly higher than two.) We all know that, for example, Mario games are great, but we probably shouldn't be assigning a disproportionate number of stars to the franchise.

Variety is good, but we shouldn't forget to take into account the individual qualities of each Star candidate. Two runs from the same franchise or even the same game can be starred for vastly different reasons, and putting arbitrary limits on stars per franchise or game means you'll have to make arbitrary choices between different qualities. ("Which run should we give a Star, the 100% run or the warped run? How do we choose between this?") Case in point, Aria of Sorrow "all souls" is currently starred because of its display of heavy luck manipulation, while "Julius all bosses" is nominated for a star because of its fast-paced action and zipping. Do we have to choose between starring a movie featuring heavy luck manipulation or starring a movie featuring fast zipping action, just because they share the same game? Just some food for thought.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

That's why I suggested a limit larger than 1 for runs of the same game. The other extreme is that if we liberally give stars to everything that's popular, then some game might get as many stars as there are TASes of it... (*ahem* Super Metroid *ahem*)

Majora's Mask has one already, that's enough for N64 Zelda.

It's enough with one N64 Zelda starred, and Majora's Mask is more worthy, it shall keep it's star.

I agree that Majoras Mask deserves the star more than Ocarina of Time. For OoT to earn its own star, I would want to see a an "all dungeons" or 100% published here.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

If you put yourself in the shoes of a first-time visitor who has not seen many TASes (if any), but perhaps knows the games themselves (and might have even played them), which one of the two suggested Zelda runs would be a more awesome introduction to TASes? (Would this change if we assume that the visitor has never seen nor played the games?) What we find impressive might not always coincide with what a first-time visitor finds impressive.

I get really annoyed when people use the argument: "this series has x number of stars already and therefore another run of said series cannot obtain a star even though it clearly deserves it". If a run deserves a star, then let it, regardless of "Well Ocarina of Time has one so we must take its and get it to Majora's Mask". I don't care if it's a Mario, Mega Man, Zelda or Metroid game. If a game clearly deserves a star, then give it to it.

+1 also, [2592] SNES Chrono Trigger by keylie in 2:17:08.86 could use one. Actually surprised it doesn't have one already.

I agree when it's a game series (especially one that's so loosely connected as the Zelda series). However, I think that stars for different TASes of the same game ought to be limited to a rational amount.

[2653] GB Pokémon: Red Version "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" by MrWint in 1:54:56.62 is an excellent example of how glitchy gen 1 Pokemon games are.

It's a fantastic run, but not (for me) star-worthy because it's somewhat repetitive, using the same glitches over and over again to farm otherwise unobtainable Pokemon. The pi run is short and sweet, and also demonstrates Pokemon's brokenness pretty well.

[2823] SNES Umihara Kawase "sightseeing" by Alyosha, ars4326 & Samsara in 11:44.77 is an excellent example of being a unique game that's fast, and also entertaining. Its rating is also quite fair, so why not a Star? Edit: How about [2835] NES Super Mario Bros. 3 "all levels" by Lord_Tom & Tompa in 1:04:36.90 ? I know the any% already has a Star, but this is neato.

Very neat run, akin to [2661] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "all relics & bosses" by ForgoneMoose in 36:58.32.

Can we put a Star to [1973] GBA The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie by jlun2 in 28:18.78? This movie always entertains me, and I've seen it a couple of times in the Featured Movie section in the site's home page, so... why not?
Interesting run, lots of tricks and glitches. Anyway, my latest suggestions include: [2589] Genesis Michael Jackson's Moonwalker by Odongdong in 18:53.64 Yes seriously, Moonwalker. He's got the moves. [2506] PSX Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions "100%" by theenglishman in 2:10:12.43 I hate MGS and I like this run. [2391] PSX Crash Bandicoot by pirohiko in 36:19.85 ....seriously?
