Tangent made a lovely post at your other submission. A run which had a 4:34:81 IGT.

His point is that that run beats yours by about half a minute. Which means that your run is quite suboptimal.

So is the one that demolished a 20 seconds off your run. Your point?

Also, if the discussion thread I vaguely recall reading is correct, you could skip some bosses but are deciding not to. Is there a reason for this? And, it's nice that you're not using the Game Genie code to enable Tails. Is not having Tails the main reason why this is slower?

Here's another issue: this hack is just the bosses of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The bosses are the same, so there is hardly any new content here. Why should we accept such a hack, if the same bossfights are already in currently published Sonic 2 runs? The movie rules state that hacks must provide unique gameplay.

The idea here is defeat each boss and I apply "skip boss" glitch because some boss is more fast defeat by the glitch. And i can't invoke Tails without use codes.

Look for example boss of Sonic 1. There you can not use Spindash. And I can only play as Sonic, thing that I can't see in Sonic 2 runs. I think see continually fighting is something fun to see. Not to mention the few glitches that can be observed. I think it's a hack with movie potential.

If you watch the two videos side by side, it's very obvious where you're losing time. I suggest Youtube Doubler. When you start the boss skipping trick, he beats a boss quickly that you skip, putting him about 5-10 seconds behind, but then by the very next boss, you're already behind him again because it took you a ridiculously long time to beat it for whatever reason (not familiar with the trick/mechanics of the trick). And as others have said, I don't think this hack is really worthwhile or adds anything that's not already covered by other runs.

I do not see where waste time. Remember that the intention here is to defeat all the boss. Except for Labyrinth Boss because him is not necessary him defeat by hits.

Which would fall under what category exactly? "Beats all bosses except for the one I didn't want to but otherwise foregoes time saving skips?"

Maybe because I'm kinda not familar of sonic games, but is the original games this was based on really that slow and boring to the point a TAS of a hack where all those boring stages are skipped really needed? Also this didn't even feel like a boss rush; it felt like some overly long stage with 17 bosses eggmans with rather poorly looped music ("boss" 10 for example). It became rather tedious when I had to sit through 17 eggman executions. No vote. Edit: Also in ~3:00 of the encode, that pretty much reinforced my view that this isn't a boss rush; it's a stage with all the enemies as Eggmans and his bots.

You don't say "foregoes time saving skips" now.

It was a fun watch (voted yes) and a "boss rush" hack of Sonic 1 & 2's battles is an interesting idea. Felipe, would you be interested in doing a 1-player run of this game in the future and eventually re-submitting? That way, you would not only have a run that's within the site rules, you would also have a very good chance of having it published.
This was what I was doing. I accept it again as a "Boss Rush", which would be more entertaining. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16823&start=17

Okay, after checking a few non TAS runs, I think I understand what he's trying to say. This is meant as a form of 100% run (all bosses defeated), whereras the one I linked is an any% because it skips bosses. HOWEVER, he does use the same glitch that enables skipping. From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si2Ip3upZMc
It's got a really neat glitch on the Casino Night boss, where if you exit the arena super quickly after beating him, the bosses kinda glitch out after that for a while. It opens the doors as soon as some bosses start, allowing you to leave as soon as the bosses appear. However, if you do that some of the earlier bosses, this will softlock the game, as the doors will not open for later bosses even after you beat them. As a result, the bosses you skip are Mystic Cave, Star Light, and Metropolis. Oil Ocean also freaks out, hard, and actually becomes harder and slower, as the period of time he is available to hit decreases, so instead of being able to 8-0 the best you can manage is 5-3
So he's using that glitch, just not using it effectively. Either way, I fail to see that it adds anything not already in the other Sonic games, and 100% definitely isn't a meaningful category here.

well its nice that you came back and tried again without using the tails par code, I would rather you keep up the speed and do the skips, if the game glitches out cause its not able to load fully/properly then idc. meh vote from me cause I find it suboptimal more so on ARZ its noticed even before you do your delay to instigate the boss skip in a further boss. also tangent makes a valid point do we really need another sonic game?? doesn't seem like it really adds anything new to the table its almost like watching a tails playthrough of sonic 2 (adds nothing)

If I wanted to skip to the Boss Fights in a TAS, I would create bookmarks in a Media Player than watch a hack where it just goes to one boss after another. That and getting to use Spin Dashes on Bosses in Sonic 1 isn't enough to equal Rockman 4 Minus Infinity level of uniqueness.

I think that understand what is happening here. You are judging more that this game hack not worth a position here in TASvideos that judging the quality of submission. If you investigate a little you will see that this run is optimal.

I believe you are correct, Felipe.

Non-official games (hacks, homebrews, etc...) Non-official games are allowed for submission. However, they go through more scrutiny than other games. This is because the game itself also becomes a subject to judgment, so it must be a high quality and notable hack or homebrew with a strong following. The TAS should be high quality on its own merit, and must also show something interesting compared to other game(s) made on the same game engine, if applicable.

Truth be told, this is part of the reason I voted no; I love the hack, but it is much more fun to play than to watch. But this is not the whole story. Another major point in my decision to vote 'no' is the arbitrary restriction of fighting all bosses after triggering the boss skip glitch. Had the glitch not been activated, this would not have been an issue; as is, it sticks out like a sore thumb. But there is more:

No, it is not. This was a test run by WST and feeuzz that beats your run by about 40 frames up to the point it stops, and this is with your silly restriction.

Sincerely you almost fool me with the illusion of defeating the Casino Night Boss more fast, marzojr. This is only a very little faster, I do not see it as a reason for rejecting this submission immediately.

If your TAS is slower, and there's legit proof that it can be optimized better rather easily, why should it be published?

Because the difference is minimal. EDIT: Here you accept the very slight errors.

It doesn't matter if it is minimal. Considering the big, TASing history of Classic Sonic games, it's pretty significant.

It doesn't matter how minimal the time difference is. If it's faster, it gets published. Movies on TASvideos get obsoleted all the time, by quite a few 'minimal' differences. That's the point of the site. To beat games as fast as posssible. Heck, the original Super Mario Bros. run was obsoleted by 1 frame. Therefore, voting No due to lack of optimization.
