http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

There are many worthy runs this year. In fact, all 10 candidates are very strong runs in their own rights. I ended up voting for 7 of them, although I could just as easily voted for 9 or 10 of them (even though 10 would be useless for the votes overall, and 9 seems more like having a bias against one particular run). I do have to say that one slightly jumps out above the others in my opinion, and that is the Spyro: Year of the Dragon run. It managed to keep up its great level of excellence and entertainment all throughout its two-and-a-half hour length without ever getting boring. It's something amazing.

I know what you mean, normally I end up on voting for say two of these, but this year I voted for four of them. It's also surprising that the SNES TAS is currently in 2nd to last place.

I voted for Spyro and Magician Lord. Magician Lord came out of absolutely nowhere and stunned me with just how much it managed to pack in such a short time, while Spyro was just amazingly solid and entertaining all throughout its long run time, which is something that you hardly ever get in TASes of that length. TAS of the year, to me, means showing off something new, something unexpected, something the community has never seen before. The other runs, while all amazing in their own right, didn't really give me the same sense of excitement that I felt while watching these two runs. It was either optimizing things I'd seen before or different applications of things I'd seen before. These two runs, however, actually kept me excited and entertained all throughout since so much was new to me.

Hyper Princess Pitch still seems impossible. Impossible and fun. It has the WOW factor. What a TAS should be like.

Voted for HPP (for entertainment) and Spyro (for technical merits). Of course HPP was technically sound and Spyro was entertaining as well.

And now it's currently first. Will Masterjun win 6 trophies this year? Or will someone else be appreciated enough to get 2 or 3?

Congratulations to Masterjun for winning TAS of 2014, counting up to a record total of 6 awards in one year, and immediately dethroning adelikat for highest overall award count with a total of 11 awards, beating adelikat's 10 awards. TAS of the year was a tight vote this year - Super Mario World won with only 17% of votes overall (in a field of 10 candidates), a record low. 2014 has had a lot of highly regarded runs.

Yeah, speaking of which, I don't know who's doing them this year. I did them back in 2012 I think, but I don't have the .psd files anymore. EDIT: Here are the .pngs though: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55220482/awards%202012.7z
