[2513] SNES Super Mario World "arbitrary code execution" by Masterjun in 02:25.19 This is the movie that set ACE on the chart not just inside TASVideos, but way beyond as well, when it was first unveiled at AGDQ 2014 nearly a year ago. Said unveiling let out a worldwide shockwave of hype unlike anything any TAS had ever done before. It has to be worth a mention because of that. Also nominating: [2696] SNES The Mask by TASeditor in 05:45.16
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Gotta give a nomination to[2543] SNES Final Fantasy IV "warp glitch" by pirohiko in 1:42:03.71. Aside from me being an RPG guy, this one blew me away. Just such sheer technical prowess went into this one; including the warp glitch, unexpected improvements in boss fights, as well as the big payoff in the end (Zeromus likely didn't see that one coming!). I don't see this run being obsoleted, anytime soon. Great work from pirohiko!

Strangely enough, I didn't find we had too many really good SNES runs this year. However, [2513] SNES Super Mario World "arbitrary code execution" by Masterjun in 02:25.19 seems to stand above all other TASs ever made. It even got news coverage! However the update to this TAS with the new impossible payload is even better. I'd also consider [2639] SNES Super Demo World: The Legend Continues "all 120 exits" by PangaeaPanga in 2:02:04.49 as a standard well played SNES TAS worthy of TAS of the year.

This was a very good run and entertained. Deserves being nominated.

That was a revolutionary run actually. No one expected a GT code run to be so superb entertainemnt-wise, and it was the first one to prove game end glitch is possible in SM (after a tremendous amount of research the authors did). TAS of the year to me, no discussion.

I'm not so sure with the competition from SMW if it should be TAS of the year. But otherwise I agree with everything you said.

This was a good year for SNES, in part due to a lot of ACE runs. I nominate: [2558] SNES Super Metroid "GT code, game end glitch" by amaurea, Cpadolf & total in 14:52.88 While the movie is obsoleted now, it was the first Super Metroid ACE on the site, and still the one that entertains me the most. In addition to showing a then-new ACE trick in Super Metroid, it also shows the GT Code as bonus, resulting in an unusual route choice for a Super Metroid run. I also nominate: [2682] SNES Out of This World by Archanfel in 13:31.10 Had some pretty cool tricks.

Probably meant 2558, which thankfully was already nominated.
