This is the first speedrun of Crystal's Pony Tale I've seen. Of course, I did it, so... Anyways, I have played this game forever, so I decided to do a speedrun.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: <Gens v2.12 Movie 11>
  • I saw there was a need for a Crystal's Pony Tale speedrun, nobody did one before, and it wasn't on the "bad choices" list, so I went for it.

Comments

  • I tried to beat this game in the fastest time that I could, and it seems that the quickest I could do was 22:35.72.

Other comments

  • If you want to try to beat my time, go ahead. It might look like a cute little kids game, but it's actually pretty challenging.

That video on YouTube appears really unoptimized too (though it's not a speedrun by any means), though I think either the character is slow or the game is just really laggy. Either way, we can't verify that the uploader didn't skip parts of the game or something sneaky like that, and keep in mind that this is the first input file of this game being completed. JayTheBrainMann, I haven't watched the movie, but you never mentions it being tool-assisted. You just refer to it as a "speedrun". If you didn't use frame advance and savestates to make the run, then it's not a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) and it doesn't belong on this site.

I msut admit, the name got my curiosity. The fact that the rerecord count is unknown somewhat worries me, along with that the author refers to the movie as a speedrun, so I'd like to see an encode before I vote.

Ah, I see another speedrun for a game I suggested! I haven't watched it, but 22 minutes seems like a really long time for this game. An optimal route would require manipulating the gem and pony placements to reduce the amount of backtracking needed. I'll wait for someone to graciously provide an encode as I don't have my emulator setup on this lappy.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

9m42s is an unassisted record. The placements are randomized every time. At least this game is better than these two ungodly abominations... but it isn't that great. I made a review of this game here. Link to video
