This is a new run of Castlevania Cotm wich clears the game in deferent way than the previous runs.It uses something like "replay mode" or "new game+" in Sotn,is Magician
This mode uses the same caracter in the regular mode, but ther are some differents betwen the both like HP that is devided by 2 (50) and STR (75) and that makes the movie a little bit unoptimazed, however,I tried to do my possible to show the good playing, but the good thing is MP that increased to 400
In this run,I avoided to use any warp glitch
Soory,I don't have more comments
I hope you'll enjoy this new run
feos: Everyone agreed that optimization efforts put into this run are very good. But to be published in Moons, a run also requires to represent enough unique content, to prevent overlap, or be better than already existing branches, and obsolete some of them if similar enough.
This run appears to look pretty similar to the current any% run, but isn't more entertaining than that, and also uses a replay/newgame+ mode, which makes it incomparable with any% in pure speed. However, most people agree that a "no DSS gltich" run would definitely be entertaining and unique. Rejecting this one though.
Rebeat the game in another classe might be an nice idea.
You can take less hit due to less defensive, but the route in magician classe is moslty the same as the default one.
However, I like the idea and this run. That would be a "Meh".
What about a run with the Shooter or Fighter classe ?
If no DSS card appeared, you cannot performed card glitch. So a well different TAS may be done.
Anyway nice played.
Funny fact : Nathan looks like a mouse if you play the movie a little bit too fast ^^
I felt that magician mode didn't really bring anything 'new' to the table, compared to the existing movie.
It's a bit sad because the execution on this run is pretty well done otherwise. Meh vote.
One of these days we'll have to find a way to make Nathan jump without slowing down...
I'm inclined to agree with Darak and Atma on this. The movie was well done, and I'm all for more CoTM, but about 90% of this movie played the exact same as the regular TAS. The only difference is that instead of skipping to a late-game item using one unintended method, it does so by using another. Unfortunately, I don't think this is enough for publication, which is quite a bummer.
(Haven't watched since there's no encode, but...) One of these days I'd like to see a run that doesn't use the card glitch (or Magician mode's access to all cards from the beginning), so that you'd gradually increase in powers as the run progressed. It might make routing more interesting as there'd be incentives to go out of your way to get certain cards, too.
A Fighter or Shooter mode could be good too, where the cards simply aren't available at all.

Before I start TAS Cotm as Magician,I decided to improve the current run.So I wanted to skip Chapel Tower using DSS glitch and just beating Camilla then complet the game normaly but I was thinking that the run will not be accepted for publication because zggzdydp's run do the same and this on 2007 and Cardboard's was published on 2008.
For that reason,I tried to do a Magician run that skips Chapel Tower
The most desirable cards are incredibly annoying to get, and not only from a non-TAS standpoint. Pluto, in particular, having all those things you want like "faster movement" or "skeleton mode" or "invulnerability". It drops from candle mimics appearing...in the very first bossroom, after you beat Camilla. Significant backtracking.
Of course, for skeleton mode, you also need Black Dog, which is only available deep in the Arena.
Also, Shooter mode gets cards as pickups like normal, though if I recall correctly they cannot get the last few Power cards like Pluto.
A Magician-mode showcase of what you can DO with DSS would be neat (though many, like most of the attribute-boosting ones, would be boring.) Something of a 100% completion, perhaps? To show off all the effects, one would need the ring that alters Pluto+Black Dog...
(I have not watched this movie.)
Right, part of the point of a no-DSS-glitch run would be that you don't have access to the "most desirable" cards for most (or, perhaps, all) of the run, because they make the actual strategy of the run pretty degenerate. Fast-run card to boss, skeleton big bone, repeat. You're not going to see weaker cards get acquired and used if you have access to stronger cards. And of course that means that traversal of the castle is a lot slower, but that's part of the limitations imposed on the run, so oh well.

I finally got a chance to watch this. I was surprised to see that newgame+ didn't seem to make a lot of difference. You skip out on one slow scrolling message before Dracula is revived, but that seems to be about it. Is newgame+ needed for anything else?
This does look a lot like the currently published run, but it jumps over a lot more enemies. The crazy resource management isn't there as much in this run, but the optimization looks pretty good!
The biggest differences here are the first boss fight (which does NOT use skeleton) and the clever way to skip most of the underground waterway. Thus, this run skips one more boss than the current any% run does (since this run skips Adramelech).
I'd probably be interested in a no-DSS-glitch run in the future, but in the meantime, I think this is good. I'm not as worried about the use of newgame+ as I thought I would be. I recommend that this obsolete the current any% run because it has a better route.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically.
Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.)
Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html)
Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature!
Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
The main differences of Magician mode, as I understand it, are that you naturally start with all cards, and that your physical stats are weaker than in normal mode. The former is almost a nonfactor for glitch-friendly TASes since you can access any card combination once you have at least two cards (albeit at increased time cost), and the latter can generally be avoided through use of Skeleton since the big bone is so bloody powerful.

That movie is mislabeled. It does the DSS glitch, but does not glitch straight to Dracula like in this run. Perhaps there was confusion somewhere along the line when labeling that movie.
... I have no other comments to give at this moment.

Yeah, the DSS glitch is just the glitch that allows all card combos to be usable with just two cards. It's used in pretty much every CotM run for the Pluto/Griffin combination (and in the warp glitch run for the summon zip to Dracula). No idea why those obsoleted no-warp runs are labelled no DSS glitch because it's the reason they're as fast as they are.
