Thanks for that info... So... When EXACTLY do I unlock a track, when I beat it or just entering the track?
just entering the track. They don't necessarily need to be completed. Completing them allows you to use different vehicles with a few exceptions. Go for a time of 50 minutes or less. The Out of Bounds glitch in Hot Top Volcano, do it during the trophy race, as you can skip a lot of courses. Can the game be beaten with 4 or 10 balloons maybe?
Coming in at a random time, can't you beat the game with zero balloons by glitching under the lighthouse? Is that what were talking about?

The fastest route for DKR any% is the one toufool did at SGDQ2013, where you beat wizpig 1 early with an out of bounds, beat the first world, then use trophy storage glitch to get every other world's trophy by beating world 1's trophy race and tricking the game into giving you that world's trophy. So it's doing world 1 over and over in identical ways and it's really boring, which is why 100% should be done if you're aiming for entertainment.

Well, Swordless Link's rejected run showed that the game can be beaten in very few time, but he used a completed file... So my route goes like this Start a new game as Banjo Go and get from the balloon in Snowflake Mointain to the entrance of Dino Domain (5) Go to Hot Top Volcano On the start, pause the game and quit the race On Dino Domain, quit the game Then on the menu choose 2 players Go to Hot Top Volcano and do the out of bounds glitch Do the glitch again in the overworld and go to Future Fun Land Fly over to the final Wizpig race Do the glitch again on the race, defeat Wizpig and beat the game... How does this sounds? (I hope it sounds good...)

Swordless' run was rejected because it requires a completed savefile and he failed to include a verification movie. It's basically a glitched newgame+ I think the best choice would be to do a 100% with TT.

Hello, the fastest route for this game actually does not use what Toufool did at SGDQ2013. In fact it uses a Japanese copy of the game that uses the wrong warp to Dragon Forest with the plane vehicle which allows you to skip 5 balloons by flying out of bounds into Haunted Woods. The outcome of this wrong warp seems to be somewhat random, I have no idea how to manipulate it at all. You still need the 8 balloons from Dino Domain races, and 2 more to enter Whale Bay for the Sherbert Island trophy. However, there is one thing that should be pointed out... that is the Hot Top Volcano silver coin challenge requires 10 balloons to enter normally without any T.T. stomp. You can bypass this with a precise stomp into Dino Domain boss, that way you can do the races back to back just like the 100% run does in Future Fun Land. I'm not sure on the exact time save for skipping 1 overworld balloon and the back-to-back races. It would be real close in determining if this "TAS only" route saves time. Here are two videos for examples of the route, although they are a little sloppy... especially low%. Keep in mind, it would be faster to get the lucky wrong warp first as opposed to last in my Any% run. On the other hand I haven't timed which would be fastest for low%. Thanks FachZ, but no one will use that, Kurabu will use Banjo, and I was going to use TT but making a verif movie is boring lol

Ok, I made the glitch from a new file and I found out some interesting things.... I could do a "2 player branch!!!" Now I can do the bosses and trophy races WAY more easily... The new route Start a new game as Banjo Turn into a plane and collect the 4 balloons in the overworld Go to Dino Domain and race in Ancient Lake Win, go to Hot Top Volcano and instantly quit the race After that, quit the game In the menu, choose Banjo as the 1st player and Pipsie as the second Race in Hot Top Volcano, perform the OoB glitch and go to the overworld Then first to Dino Domain again Fly over to the Boss and beat him. Fly over now with Pipsie to the boss again Beat him, go to trophy race, win and go to the dragon boss next doing the same thing Do the same in Snow Flake Mountain Do that once more flying with Pipsie and doing the glitch with the octopus boss Face 1st Wizpig race and win Wait for going to Future Fun Land Fly over to the final boss Do the glitch, beat Wizpig and beat the game. NOW... How does this sounds?

I don't think you won't encounter desync while doing a 2player run. Also nice route, but did you chcked if it works? The any% route requires TT for going sometime OoB

I managed to do the glitch with Pipsie, since she is very fast on the plane. I still have to try the glitch with Banjo.

I'd hate to break it to you guys... but the route for any% using T.T. or not is still what I pointed out earlier. You guys still don't understand how the "wrong warp" works... It brings you to the overworld or dragon forest depending on version. However, if you are on the tracks mode it takes the data from the highest progressed file and loads it into your last loaded file. Which is completely useless all together... I'd suggest you actually do a bit more research into the DKR community by either asking me or Toufool about any of the tricks. Blindly going into a TAS with no knowledge of the game whatsoever is not going to end well at all. There are a plethora of tricks/glitches that are undocumented to those outside of the community. It would be a relatively bland TAS when none of these tricks are used. Especially when the TAS for Any% would be relatively boring compared to a 100% TAS using T.T. which would be way more exciting.

Where is the DKR community at? sda forums? I agree with you that your route is best and is what needs to be done. Speed runners have already figured out the path and glitches, all that we need to do is put it all in a beautiful TAS

Shut up FaschZ we are just experimenting. A run with a completed file will be NOT accepted and if they would, a verification movie is going to be needed and nobody wants to do that crap anyways...

Wouldn't making the verification movie take a small fraction of the time the polished TAS would take? Also, it is a bad idea to be rude towards one of the best speedrunners of the game you are TASing. Just saying~

isn’t he right in saying that it wouldn’t be accepted, though? wasn’t that the reason why Swordless’s run was rejected? the fact that you need a completed save file to transfer over data with a glitch

Why are you so mean. I totally agree with him. Going blindly without making testrun is just stupid. So before telling someone to "shut up", think before to tell something --'.

The reason for the decline on the other TAS is due to the fact that it required actual contents from the save file to be moved on to the new file. T.T. doesn't necessarily require this "save file," because after he is unlocked he remains on the cartridge until you actually delete that permanent "magic code". Yet to my understanding this would still require a verification movie, which does not have to be good. I recommend doing this if you actually move forward with the TAS because your next option would be using Banjo. He is significantly less of a viewing pleasure considering his speed is not as great as you can tell by the already existing 100% TAS. Also to reiterate, no trick in the game is character specific... every single character can perform every single trick.

Yes, Japanese version would be the fastest no matter the category

can you PM me where to go for the DKR community so I dont look like a total fool not using well-known tricks. I only know the boost pads you dont hold accelerate.

FaschZ, since you’re a speedrunner, couldn’t you just run the game once on emulator to unlock T.T. and have that as the verification movie? I’d expect you to be able to create that faster than anybody else on this forum

Apparently beating Adventure does NOT unlock T.T. You need to beat staff ghosts. But, you may need to beat adventure to unlock the tracks to do Time Trials on. Demo video for Dino Domain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z5asDDz-V0

Ok I apologize, but seriously, I was offended when you said that I got NO knowledge on the game. If I would seriously don't know about the game, I wouldn't be on this thread. But I do, and thats what it matters now... I don't like the idea to start a game with an already existing file, because in my opinion, it just seems unfair to me to not start from a new file and use an unlockable. Also, I'm still not doing testruns of this, because I still have to confirm my route and see if it works a 100% and find new ways to improve it. So, please, for the sake of my sanity, don't depress me.... Seriously, if I wasn't kind to you, I'm so sorry, but don't outsmart a newbie neither. It just makes them feel like they are not worthed for the community.

Yea beat the game, play each time trial twice, first unlocking TT then beating TT in each race. Would clutching to finish the game, then playing each time trial work?

Make a verification movie that unlocks everything. (all courses, trophy races, characters, Adventure Two) It would take about 3 hours of input to do it. It takes about a week to make an hour of input maybe. I would like to see an "Adventure Two" run. Maybe all five trophy races on Tracks mode with a code that makes the AI tougher. Data can be transferred from 1.0 to 1.1 and vice versa by use of a Controller Pak. But they can't be transferred to the Japanese version due to region coding. Like the data files between the US and Japanese versions of Majora's Mask are handled differently and are incompatible with each other. If you load US Pokemon Stadium 2, then Japanese Pokemon Stadium 2, it would create garbage data in the latter. It's safe to say that Japanese Pokemon Stadium 1 uses a different save type (SRAM) than US Pokemon Stadium 1. When making a run using T.T., be sure to include the verification movie in order for the run to be accepted. There was a Star Fox 64 run that got rejected due to failure of including a save file for the Expert mode, and that was before the verification movie rule was added.

Link to video Just for fun, I will probably just do the rest of the verification by savestating at the beginning of the race and once I get a good run(with my human mistakes) i'll save and continue on until done with verification file. hopefully by then someone will want to take over for the actual TAS.
