Hmm, Super Metroid randomizer... Sounds fun, actually. I'll try it out myself since I love Super Metroid too. I followed you. I also might race you if I get good enough at the randomizer.
The one I'm working on right now is trolling the hell out of me. I had to do most of Upper Norfair without the Varia Suit (it was where the X-Ray Scope is) and I need the Speed Booster (which is MIA so far) to get the Gravity Suit (at the Wrecked Ship R-Tank.) I'm getting the feeling I'll need to do some Suitless Maridia. The ranzomization tool can be had from http://smrandomizer.codeplex.com

Yeah, I've been messing around with the randomizer, it's pretty fun. Though I've been turning suitless maridia off for now. I love the Kappa reserve sprite edit :D

I did one for Mystical Ninja, but I doubt I do it again. Due to the unexciting nature of it from an audiences perspective.

Let's bump this, because I think my stream should now be worth of getting listed here. Twitch Username: andypanther Link to stream page: http://www.twitch.tv/andypanther Do you stream Speedruns?: Yes, my best games are Mario Kart 64 and Beetle Adventure Racing. - TAS work?: Yep, I occasionally stream my work on the Gex 64 TAS - Races from SpeedRunsLive?: Yes, mostly Mario Kart 64, but also Super Mario 64, Gex 64, Diddy Kong Racing or 102 Dalmatians (lol). What else do you stream?: Maybe a first playthrough of a random Indiegame. Other info: I sometimes stream in German.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

So I think this is a good place to put a list of Twitch channels that TASers use to live-stream making their TASes and playing them back. Each post should be made by the owner of the channel anoucing what the URL to their channel is. One thing I haven't worked out is if a person who is streaming should bump this chat when they begin. -------------------------------------------

In this thread, I wanted to make a list of people who stream themselves TASing a game. This is to encourage viewership and community growth. Because TASing takes a lot of time and effort, it's nice to have people to interact with who are interested in what they're seeing. My goal is for people to see this thread and find someone who TASes a game they enjoy. I can't speak for everybody on this list, but I've gotten several viewers who had no idea what TASing was. This is a good opportunity to help grow the community and get more people interested in watching and making TASes. I also hope to encourage more TASers to stream themselves working on their projects. If you know of anybody that streams TASing that wasn't included on this list, post a link to their stream and I'll add it. Also, let me know what games you TAS and I'll list them (up to maybe 3 or 4 games) Name: FitterSpace Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/fitterspace Games: GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and 007: Nightfire Name: theenglishman Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theenglishman Game: Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions Name: Mavalock Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/mavalock Game: 007: The World is Not Enough Name: tasMalleo (Malleoz) Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/tasmalleo Game: Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Name: Weatherton Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/weatherton Game: Mario Kart 64 Name: Link_7777 Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/link_7777 Games: TASMania Name: DwangoAC Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/dwangoac Games: TASBot Tips for TAS streaming:
Because TASing isn't the most entertaining thing to watch, I recommend playing some video game music in the background. I find that video game music works better than real life music since it appeals to a more general audience. People are more likely to enjoy listening to music from the game you're TASing (or similar games) than random music from a playlist. If you're streaming to Twitch, be sure to set your community to "speedrunning". The Speedrunning community on twitch exists to make it easy to find speedrun streams, much like SpeedRunsLive. The moderators of that community encourage TAS streams, which is good. This increases viewership because there are tons of people who scroll through the list to find a game they like. This is a good opportunity to introduce TASvideos to a wider audience. Use a mic. As a viewer, it's hard to be interested in a TAS stream if i'm only seeing the game itself. Without a mic (or webcam), viewers who are unfamiliar with TASing are unlikely to care about what they're seeing. Assuming you stream often, you will get viewers who don't know what TASing is. I've mentioned it several times in this post, but this is a good chance to introduce the concept of TASing to a wider audience. Explain what frame advance is, explain savestates, explain TAS input, explain what you're trying to accomplish, explain everything. The more they learn about it, the more interested they will be, and they'll be more likely to watch more TASes that people work for months, or even years, on.

I've added You and DwangoAC to the list. What games would you prefer I list under your name? I just put "various" for the time being, but I can change that to whatever you want. I checked Invariel's twitch page but the past broadcasts only go back so far. I recognize his name and profile picture from the forums but I don't see where he streamed TASing, so i'll add his name to the list later.

I think for me it would probably be best to put TASMania: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18578 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14mIIGHU4hzK1atRsVgMtwc8hNkUc2Ty48loCNj8O9Bc/edit?usp=sharing I imagine you would put TASBot for dwangoAC. As for Invariel I know he did Faxanadu on stream prior to DTC, I heard he was going to do Lagoon next, but I don't think I've seen him stream it

Today I've got serious internet upgrade (http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6345507248.png), so I would like to plan streaming my upcoming WIPs and TASes. edit: non-scheduled, I guess I would write a notification somewhere (irc?) and go. My primary goal: - make my (non horribly uninteresting) TASing sessions streamed - focus on TASing and vocally explain what I'm doing Currently scheduled TASes I can stream: - Lynx Gordo 106 pause trick #4491: adelikat's Lynx Gordo 106: The Mutated Lab Monkey in 08:16.19 - Lynx Krazy Ace input and game optimization (limited possibilities) #4497: Aqfaq's Lynx Krazy Ace Miniature Golf in 02:09.79 - Lynx Pac-Land TASes only optimization - One of my NES TASes that already has fancy lua scripts (so people can enjoy it too) Now here's my question as I'm totally noob in streaming area (apart from watching them): I guess I will use twitch, so... - since my name is equivalently typed as the great swedish family band, is "meshuggahtas" sufficient? (whatever legal problems) - is there anything I should hide regarding the emulator? (empty desktop while only the emulator shown... filename paths? ROM folders?) - donations and ads... well, my primary intention is to teach others and show how I TAS and entertain those numberophiles or geeks fall in love with watching godlike TASes. So, I'm unsure if I need to comeup with any "subscribe" pricing and the usage of ads or whatever. - Any sites that helps newcomers that also goes deep (technically too) about this (I can google, I'm looking for someone expert in this field). edit2: other things I'm probably gonna stream is random short HotS/LoL (aram, 1v1) and maybe technical demos (Lynx Shadow of the Beast warp glitch, real time test runs while turboing, NES super glitches (from my usermovies like, NES swords and serpents tengen shit L+R super speed))

I'll give it a go... -I'm not sure about the answer for the name, better wait for others to give real insight. -technically (or even legally), I don't think you need to hide things like rom paths, etc... But know that with OBS (or other streaming programs) you can pick which windows to show. for example, the main emulator window (the game running), ram watch/search windows, TAStudio, or anything you use, even something like notepad if you want to show notes taken. If you specifically capture a window, it won't show the menus you open (file, emulation, view, etc for BizHawk as an example), but there are ways to show everything if you prefer. -I'd suggest you start thinking about donations links or ads after having done some streams first, it can be added anytime. But if you know how to do it, nothing stops you from putting links and other things in your description (that appears under your stream in the navigator for the viewers). Anyway, what I mean is that it's not required to worry about it right away. I myself stream sometimes (and it's been a while since my first stream) and I don't even have a description ^^. Other people can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's possible to have a "subscribe button" right away, I don't know the exact details. -I don't have a site to help newcomers in mind... But I can give a little hint about one of the settings. With a BIG connection like yours, one can be tempted to go wild with the bitrate of the stream, but it would affect the viewers, after all they are limited by their own connection. I'd suggest going for something like 1500kb/s max if you want most people to be able to watch your stream. On some streams you can change the quality as a viewer, but I think it's like the "subscribe" button, that is something you "earn" at some point, and not an option when you start; that means that the viewers can't lower the quality if you use a bitrate too high for them.

@MESHUGGAH - Your name, just type it in when registering and see if it works. There are no legal problems for nicknames, let alone with what you're going to be doing (streaming for only 10 viewers or so). But that's just what I think. I cannot give legal advice. - Make sure to only show the emu window and hide the ROM folders and you'll be perfectly fine. Even if ROM folder appears on the stream, it shouldn't be a problem, especially not if you're a small streamer. - About ads, only twitch partners can do that. You need to gain a good follower base with 500 or some recurrent viewers and then apply for a partnership. You can set up paypal donation link or use some site to have people donate, but I can't help you with that much. If you haven't yet, get OBS, get used to it and maybe google for some tutorial. Set it to a reasonable bitrate (if your upload speed is 1 MBps then set it to something less like 700 kbps). 30 FPS is fine. And set it to a good resolution - I like to use 768x432 (which is 16:9).
